The patching process on Uplay is rubbish. Apparently you have to start the game to even look for patches. Then you patch, quit the game, start it again, after which it discovers that there's yet another patch and so on. I'm applying the third patch right now.

At least it lets you directly redeem keys now. When I bought Far Cry 3 you still had to download a small file and run that. :beli

Same as Games for Windows Live. Which was also garbage.

Eiyuu Senki coming west on PlayStation 3
5pb. strategy RPG visual novel will soon be in English.

Fruitbat Factory is bringing Eiyuu Senki: The World Conquest to PlayStation 3 in North America an Europe, the company announced.

The Tenco-developed and 5pb.-published mix of a strategy game, RPG, and visual novel features over 70 characters drawn by Oyari Ashito. It is set in an alternate world populated with famous characters of history and legend, who all happen to be beautiful maidens, and tasks players with fighting for world domination.

Find an official story synopsis below.

In a world where powerful nations run rampant and heroes battle one another for supremacy, the great nation of Britannia seeks to unite the world through peaceful means while the European Union has adopted an aggressive policy and the Seafaring Nation of Vinland thrives on pillage and plunder. Far in the east, the small nation of Zipang is stuck fast in a quagmire of civil unrest.

In the midst of all this, our memory-loss stricken main character has a fateful meeting with a Hero of Yamatai, Himiko. Together they settle Zipang’s internal disputes and set off into a world covered with the burning embers of war.

The game will be a digital-only release, Fruitbat told Gematsu.

Lu BOOB meets a man in court. His name is Daiosan. He is one of the most handsome men in all of China, known as one of the Four Hotties. Lu Boob has betrayed all of her caretakers: first her adopted father. Then Big Dong Zhuo, the man who would usurp the throne who bought her allegiance with gold. When the time was right, Lu Boob kills Big Dong - who lusted after Diaosan. After a period of years, Lu Boob gives her service to various ladies of the kingdom with Diaosan as her dancer and lover. All the courts loved to marvel the beauty of Diaosan's dance. Driven by lust, Lu Boob becomes obsessed with making love to Diaosan and drink, she is inept in her duties and rebels against her ally Liu Babe, which costs her her head.

I love the overt Addams Family reference in this one, it's like FarSight trolled everyone that wanted that game in TPA.

High Speed is my jam, though, at least until the sequel gets added.

Went to Best Buy to get Borderlands 2 for Vita.  The place was empty.  The video game section was a joke- they had all the consoles in stock and on display, but new games were few and far between.  The shelves were all half-empty.  I had to go to the counter and ask for the game, which they had in stock, but didn't bother to put out.  PS4 and XBone games were represented by cardboard displays that were just thrown all over the place, with "ask for it at the register!" stickers slapped on.   Is Best Buy on a bigger decline than before, or is it just my local store that has become a forgotten wasteland of shit from the previous year?  I didn't even see any recent PCs and tablets on display.

My Best Buy was the same when I went last week. They moved the games section all the way to the back corner of the store where no one can see it. I also had to wait forever for someone with a key to come and get me a Vita bundle which they had locked up in the back.

So there's a new Shinning game announced for PS3. At first I just thought since it's Sega there's little chance it will come here. Yet, this is a title in Sega's wheelhouse.  So maybe we'll actually see Atlus use some of Sega's titles.

They're finally beginning to really fall apart, I guess.  Mine had Vita Borderlands bundles all over the place. Not locked up or anything.  Guess theft isn't a concern when no one is coming into the store.   :teehee

The last time I went to Best Buy was to pick up Redline on Blu-ray when it first came out TWO YEARS AGO. The place was dead, the music and movies sections were almost non-existant. I don't know how they stay afloat.

wizard of the coast is suing the people behind the hex kickstarter

Quote
May 14, 2014 (Renton, WA) – Today Wizards of the Coast LLC, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington against Cryptozoic Entertainment, LLC and its alter ego, Hex Entertainment, LLC (collectively, “Cryptozoic”), for willful infringement of intellectual property rights.

Cryptozoic develops and publishes the digital trading card game, Hex: Shards of Fate, a clone of the world famous tabletop collectable trading card game, Magic: The Gathering®, and its digital expressions, Magic Online® and the Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers® franchise.

“Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast vigorously protect our intellectual property. This infringement suit against Cryptozoic demonstrates that while we appreciate a robust and thriving trading card game industry, we will not permit the misappropriation of our intellectual property” said Barbara Finigan, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Hasbro. “We attempted to resolve this issue, but Cryptozoic was unwilling to settle the matter.”

The suit includes claims for copyright, patent and trade dress infringement.

well it's not like the game was ever going to come out of closed beta so i guess it's no biggie anyway :fbm

well the rules are almost the same with attacking, tapping, phases and mana... a lot of keyword have different wording but do the same thing (lifelink -> lifedrain, vigilance -> steadfast, trample -> crush)

there are a lot of cards that are also the same like

one of the rewards for backing like A LOT of money in this game was a lotus garden that gives you free lotus card

however there are a few additions that magic don't have, some creature for example are "socketable" which means that you can actualy customize them before the game start and give them whatever power you need (so for example, you need an extra creature with flight, you customize it with flight) there are a few keywords that have never been featured in magic (like inspire which are card with small mana cost that give buff to card with mana cost equal or higher than them) and you can pick an active power that you can trigger every X lands you play...

Some card also take advantage of the digital format to do unique thing like there is a card that when played hides in the opponent deck and automaticaly defeat the opponent when drawn

they promised more stuff like equipment that would change the cards, and character that leveled up and learned more active power but they still haven't added it

also the game is basicaly 1 year old and all the time it was advertised as "MTG but with RPG element" so i don't understand what took WOTC so long

well i think there are enough unique card to give the game his own identity, not to mention that if you are playing by magic rules it's pretty hard to think of a card that doesn't look similiar... for example one of hex gimmick is that it feature a race of samurai bunnies that focus on swarming and creature generation, now of course such an archetype would feature creature that taps to create tokens and big buffing effect like this one

i don't have time now but i'll post some of the hex cards that aren't copycats later

you never played radiata stories demi? it's a really cool game, the music is really good, the beginning is pretty funny as you play this lazy idiot called jack, the whole game has this majora mask mechanic were character wander around the city and act all their lives, for example the commander in chief of the military spend his day training troops but when night comes he goes inside the bar and get shitfaced, it's really hilarious

every NPC on the game is actualy recruitable, some join pretty easily and other requires you to stalk them the whole day (or use a FAQ) but all of them are pretty colorfull and have tons of personality, the combat is a little button mashy and dumb but it's worth for the rest of the game

after a while there is a pretty big plot development and most of the cheerfull tone of the game goes away and the plot become really stupid but you have a little control over it which adds replayability to the game

spoiler (click to show/hide)
basicaly the human act like big jerks toward the non-human races like elf, goblins and fairies and you have to decide to side between the human or the non-human, the plot differs wildly depending on this choice and so do the character you can recruit, both ending are pretty stupid in any case
