I tried it for a few minutes.  It's a lot slower than regular Mario Kart and the controls make it kind of boring.  But I dunno.  I could still see myself wasting some time with it here and there when having time to kill and just my phone available.  Maybe.

Is that a Level 5 game, because it sure looks like a Level 5 game?

Also I feel like a game called Baldo should at least have a very bald main character that everyone calls Baldo.

can we get an industry ban on the following from AAA studios:

- stealth mechanics which you will use in the tutorial and then never again
- climbing
- it's open world, but it's either still very sequential or it's just randomly generated fetch-item/destroy-enemy madlibs
- shimmying through cracks or hanging on ledges. this is clearly just a way to show off your animation team's talent but adds nothing to the game.
- crafting

Half the time it's used to hide load times.

climbing is another one, play like the PS2 era Tomb Raider games and Lara is constantly climbing and shimmying between large open rooms

also it's PROCEDURALLY GENERATED now, not random :wag

It's a bad solution.

As times goes on, load times can be made faster by better hardware (through BC).
Shimming on a wall or walk/talk segments will always remain the same length though.

It was cute the first time around, but now i'd just rather have a load screen.

Character portraits look MUCH better than the PSP remake. I was a huge fan of the original on SFC so here's hoping this turns out alright. And that SO2 is coming afterwards!

so i've been wanting to get an xbox on controller for my pc and amazon has one on sale with the wireless adapter included:

https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Wireless-Controller-Adapter-Windows/dp/B078T3R8YS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=sec2002-20&linkId=0510e7c769ab4a94ae60984245248841

but do i actually need the adapter when i have bluetooth? will there be less input lag or drops with the adapter? or should i just look for a controller on its own?

yeah, i think it just uses bluetooth, can get the one with the cable that's listed there, it's $4 cheaper, you can plug it in once with the cable and it'll install the drivers then you just use bluetooth (or can leave it connected with the cable)

i actually don't know if the "xbox wireless" is any better or different, i always thought it was just a locked down range or something

edit: actually, that's a pretty good price, i should pick that up since it's the new model

seems like Sledgehammer Games is falling apart (into 2K's "secret" studio) and it has resulted in Treyarch/Black Ops coming back faster despite IIII not meeting Activision's expectations:
https://kotaku.com/sources-call-of-duty-2020-in-upheaval-as-treyarch-take-1834858368
Quote
Next year’s Call of Duty has gone through a major upheaval, as publisher Activision informed developers this week that studios Raven and Sledgehammer, which had until now led the project, will no longer be in charge. Instead, according to three people familiar with goings-on at the companies, Treyarch will lead development on a new Black Ops for 2020.

...

Although Black Ops 4 sold well at first, we’ve heard that it hasn’t had quite the revenue tail that Activision’s bean-counters were hoping to see. Internally, Activision executives have started to talk about embracing free-to-play as a revenue model—once anathema to the publisher—and, three sources say, are looking into offering a free-to-play component for this year’s new Modern Warfare, although the specifics may not be finalized yet. Some within Activision have remained resistant to the idea.

...

The past year has also been rough for the San Francisco-based Sledgehammer. In February 2018, Kotaku broke the news that Sledgehammer’s co-founders, Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, had left the studio. Although Activision spun it as a promotion, saying they’d take on “new executive duties,” it was very clearly an ousting, and the two quietly exited shortly afterwards. Earlier this year, Condrey started a new Silicon Valley studio with the publisher 2K, where he’s recruited dozens of Sledgehammer staff. The studio has been hemorrhaging employees over the past few months, much to the dismay of those who remain.

One primary reason behind this Call of Duty upheaval, according to two people familiar with happenings at Activision, is the tension between Sledgehammer and Raven, whose staff are said to have argued frequently during the past year of development on Call of Duty 2020. Two people familiar with the project described it as a mess. Now, both studios will serve as support for Treyarch as the publisher prepares to release Black Ops 5.
things not going well for either of Activision's two major franchises I guess

Dunno if you played First Departure on PSP, but it was remade. They replaced the 16-bit SNES pixels with 32-bit PS1 pre-rendered backgrounds. No idea if they plan on doing something that involved again, but apparently they're at least updating the anime portraits with new/better art.

Feels very much like Top Gear on the SNES (as it should). Boring though, but maybe I'm just jaded about single-player racing games now... Haven't enjoyed one in forever.

fantastic lineup is great for all of us, but putting all the best games into one collection mean there's probably very little chance for a vol. 2. that'd be a shame because a few of the later contra games are still pretty damn good.

Interested in playing the Famicom Contra, there were quite a bit of differences between that and the US NES version, and the Famicom version runs extremely expensive.
