And well I've been less and less sad as time goes by, it still comes up at times but I've been good at handling it. I know before I was pretty vocal about it, to which I apologize for annoying you folks when I do feel the blues, will never happen again. I just would like to be perfectly happy on my own, I guess I'm with ok with therapy but I tend to never open up and find that difficult. It was pretty much the reason I lost all my gf's before. I'm still friends with them(except for one you guys know too well by now), but the ones who brought it up said that I was cool but they never felt like more than fuckbuddies with me.

Either way I'm pretty happy now. Got a good job, pretty happy with who I am, exercising everyday, I have some music projects I'm excited about, and enjoying my vices without overexposing myself to them. For the first time in a long time I've been very busy 80% of the day every day.

So my dad decided that he wanted to mow the yard one last time before the winter hit and tried to get the push mower started up.  The push mower hadn't been started in a little over a month so it was being troublesome.  After I sat and listened to him cuss the thing for not starting, I decided to go and try to help him.  He never told me there was a kink in the pull-cord, so when I tried to start it up the cord jerked out of my hand and slapped me in the chest.

I quit my job a few days ago. I just got fed up with all the garbage I was thrown into and the lack of attention/training I was given for my new position. 2 weeks into the job (like 4 months ago), I had no idea what I was doing. I still didn't really know what I was doing when I quit because I was never trained. Anyways, I was told to look into a television problem. Fast-forward to 2 weeks ago when I'm cornered by 2 of my managers and forced to write a statement concerning what I knew about the television problem from back when I started. Deer in headlights.

This past week I was given even more work to do on top of what I already have trouble getting done since I had to learn how to do it by myself. I've been having more and more problems with stress, depression, and anxiety ever since I took the position which is mostly the reason why I've stopped posting on here and every other internet forum and I just browse instead. Anyways, I'm going to start seeing a psychiatrist soon and I've switched medications but I believe the new ones are making me worse.

I dropped out of all my classes this semester because of all the stress and everything getting to me as well. Usually I'm a fairly level-headed person and I can get through things but ever since I took the new position things went downhill. The kicker was that I was given a 0.24 cent raise for the "Leadership" position that put me in control of the entire store's inventory. I was never actually given a time to negotiate pay and never actually given the papers to sign for the new position until 2 weeks after taking it. Utter garbage.

So now I'm unemployed and applying at every place I can find on Craigslist and Careerbuilder.com. I'll visiting actual stores on Monday. I have two credit card bills, car insurance, and of course rent/utilities to pay. I cannot survive without a job and I'd rather not move back in with my parents. I really hope my college loan companies don't start wanting money since I'm not attending class this semester, either!

Here's what I typed up after researching the television issue after the fact. I gave this to them as well however after reading it they decided to sweep the issue under the rug and pretend like it never happened.

After actually being given time to figure out what the problem was about instead of being put on the spot, I had more time to figure out exactly what happened.



On Monday, June 13th, 2011, I performed a SKU swap of two televisions. The Inventory Adjustment number is 478592410. I keyed out 5 of the Sony KDL46EX723 (SKU 2072128) and keyed in 5 of the Sony KDL46EX720(SKU 2146571).



The following week when I performed TV counts, I discovered that I should never have performed this SKU swap in the first place and proceeded to key in 5 of the Sony KDL46EX723 (SKU 2072128) that I had keyed out but I did not key out the 5 Sony KDL46EX720(SKU 2146571) that I had keyed in. The Inventory Adjustment number for this is 481166712.



I was promoted to SWAT on Friday, May 22nd, 2011. This SKU swap happened 3 weeks after I had been a SWAT. I feel it's necessary to mention that the training I received for this position was EXTREMELY inadequate. All I was given was a quick one day crash course on the basics of what a SWAT does each day from the previous SWAT of 894. I was also given the opportunity of visiting another store to train with other SWATs however when I did this I didn't feel like I was given any training at all. I was told I could visit another store as well but after the poor experience I had already had, I didn't feel like I needed to waste any more time with another store's SWAT who only wants to do their own job instead of helping someone else as well.



 Honestly when I performed the adjustment, I don't believe I even knew what a SKU swap really entailed, especially so since the swap was performed on a Monday when TV counts are performed on Thursdays. I also feel it's necessary to mention that I was not given the official job papers for the position until about 2 weeks after I had already been in the position and I was never given the opportunity to discuss whether or not I thought the pay increase was worth the new position or not. I don't feel like the actions taken in my promotion were ethical at all. I continue to feel like I was swindled into taking the position.



Anyway, on August 26th, 2011, I created a rescheduled TV stock count because I had missed the actual scheduled one because of illness. This stock count number is 2164053. When I created this stock count, I did not add every individual subclass of each TV department and instead just added them by Class. When I did this, it added the Subclass 5105 (SO Large TV 46"+) to my stock counts which I had never had before and would have never had from regular stock counts.



I did not find the Sony KDL46EX720(SKU 2146571) while I was doing this stock count but I didn't key it and rescheduled a few stock counts afterwards with this individual TV on it so that I could get my PPM or someone else to help me figure out why I was missing it. I was never able to get anyone to help me because everyone was too busy preparing for PI and doing other things. I was too afraid to key out the TV myself because every time I performed an IA, my PPM would look back over it and scold me for doing something wrong. I was told that if I screwed something up again I would be given a PCR, which I do not need any more of.



This inevitably led to the TV being keyed out on PI since obviously it doesn't exist at our store since I did not key it back out at the beginning with the SKU swap. If I actually had had someone to walk me through how to properly research product variances instead of having to learn myself through trial and error, then this whole situation could have been avoided. I was told in the interrogation about the situation involving HR investigating the issue and me being required to write out my statement of what happened with the TV. I was also told that along with my statement, statements from other people about the incident would also be read. I was told that my GM's statement would be about how she had told me to look into the problem with the TVs however I do not recall ever being told about them unless it was right before the SKU swap on June 13, 2011. I honestly had no experience or knowledge about what I was doing in the first place when I performed that SKU swap so no wonder I didn't realize to key the TV's out with the reversed SKU swap.



Since I know this statement is going to be sent to HR, I feel it's necessary to speak about what has happened in the past week at my store. On Friday, September 23, 2011, I injured my back pulling TVs off a truck. I had planned on telling a manager before I left work after I started to realize that the pain I was feeling wasn't normal however I could not find one so I went home. I was going to perform stock counts I had missed from the prior week because of transportation issues the following day. I  also just got a new puppy who I have been trying to potty train and house train however he kept me up all night having a coughing problem.



On Saturday morning, September 24, 2011, I had texted my GM (who was opening the store that morning) that I was having problems with my puppy all night and I planned on coming in at 8:00 AM. I was never actually scheduled to come in to work that day. After getting my puppy situated I ended up falling asleep from exhaustion and didn't wake up again until around 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. When I actually got out of bed my back was extremely sore and I had difficulty walking around. I was not awake to be able to call my GM to let her know what had happened.



My GM had called me a little after I woke up asking me where I was. In the phone call, I told her that I had injured my back pulling TVs out of the truck on Friday, September 23, 2011, and I was not going to be able to handle coming into work to do any stock counts. She sounded agitated about me calling out sinceI had told her I was coming in that day so I don't believe she actually heard me say anything about my back injury. She had told me that I really needed to come in to work on the stock counts I had missed since she would be having an over-budget meeting with our District superiors soon and needed our store's inventory accurate. She said I could come in and finish my stock counts or she would give me a letter of separation from Best Buy, which I took as being told to either come in and work or get fired. Seeing as though I enjoy working for Best Buy, I forced myself to go into work.



Carrying out these stock counts was extremely painful for me because I had to bend down and count cameras that were locked up under shelf displays. I was never able to talk to my GM that day because I wanted to get my work done as soon as possible but she had left without talking to me. Instead, I talked to the other manager that day and had him report the injury to HR with me. On Monday, September 26, 2011, I visited the East Piedmont Urgent Care center for my back injury. The doctor there confirmed I had a pulled back muscle injury and wrote me out prescription medication and gave me a form with restrictions for what I couldn't do at work. I will be seeing him again on Monday, October 3, 2011, for a check-up on my injury.



I had a lot of difficulty figuring out what to do to receive Worker's Compensation. I found a poster in our store's break room that listed six different medical locations to call and get checked out at. Two of them are clinics, two of them are emergency hospitals, and two of them are primary care centers. I decided I did not require an emergency visit to the hospital and I'm afraid of the negative connotations that come with going to a clinic so I decided I would visit a primary care center. I regularly go to a primary care center for annual check-ups and things of that nature anyways so I felt more comfortable doing this.



Anyways, when I called one of the primary care centers (Shiland Family Care or something) and asked them about scheduling an appointment for Worker's Compensation at Best Buy, they told me that our company isn't listed in their database as a provider. So there's one wrongfully listed emergency care center down. I called the other primary care center and the phone number wasn't even active. The number no longer exists. I tried googling the doctor's name and location however every website I found listed the same address and phone number as the one on our poster. So there's two wrongfully listed emergency care centers out of six. Wonderful odds for a person needing medical assistance.



I'm just thankful that I didn't get an arm crushed under Big Joe or something major because otherwise I probably would've just died. Of course if that actually happened I'm sure I would have had someone call one of the emergency hospitals instead of a primary care center. Then again, I'm not even sure if the other four locations listed as supporting Best Buy even work or not.



Anyways, my GM came in Monday, September 26, 2011, when the store opened and I asked her where people usually go for worker's compensation problems. She directed me to East Piedmont Urgent Care which is just a block away from our store. My experience there was fairly terrible but that's pretty much how Piedmont is anyways. Piedmont is actually the third worst hospital organization in the United States. It's fascinating that they're still operating in our area, to be honest, considering that every single patient waiting with me spent the entire time bad-mouthing them.



After my visit to the physician, I took my notice of restrictions and prescriptions to the manager on duty. The manager on duty and my GM had never had any experience at all with employees needing prescription medication from Worker's Compensation. I had to research how to carry this out myself using Best Buy's Employee Toolkit. I don't fault my managers for never having this happen because in the four years I've been with Best Buy, I haven't seen anyone need Worker's Compensation before. I really think Best Buy needs better training and communication around this benefit to its employees.



I hope this situation at least causes some change in Best Buy. I realize that I did make a mistake by erroneously reversing a SKU swap. I understand that now. I wish I would have known exactly how to perform a SKU swap and inventory adjustments when I first started like I do now. If I were given actual training instead of a hands-on do-it-yourself approach then this would have never happened and our PI would not have been so terrible.



I also hope that Best Buy can take my experience with Worker's Compensation and train employees and managers on what to do when a situation like mine occurs. I had asked every employee working that day if they knew what to do and only one of them had an idea of how the Worker's Compensation works. The answer to this could be to take Learning Lounge E-Learnings on this but I know that would not solve the problem. Unfortunately E-Learnings are not taken as seriously as they should be, with people just flying through content to get to the quizzes to pass because of deadlines and threats of having their blue shirts taken away.

Don't send them any more letters like that without running it by an attorney first. I won't be surprised if they decide to dispute your claim. As far as I know, if an employer has (up to date) MPN posters visibly posted in a common area and they issue a date-of-hire packet detailing what to do in the event an injury at work is suffered, they are fulfilling their legal obligation to educate employees on workers' comp, at least here in California.

Did you report the injury before or after they had you write up the statement you mentioned? Not trying to scare you, but leaving without reporting an injury on the day it supposedly occurred is probably the most common indicator of a fraudulent claim, and it looks especially bad when you submit a claim following disciplinary action

I reported the injury the day after it happened and had a doctor's visit 2 days later. I had a follow-up visit the week after that and was taken off work restrictions. I didn't do any of the restrictions that week so I should be okay. This happened about 2 weeks ago. According to Best Buy, 2 no call/no shows in a row amounts to job abandonment/quitting. I haven't heard anything from anyone at Best Buy since so I assume they got the message.

All the Worker's comp work was taken care of before I quit as far as I know. Optimo, thank you for taking the time to read all that by the way, it was quite an essay. I had given that to them a week or so before I quit to compliment my written statement however the actual injury and Worker's comp situation happened before the television incident.

Damn Fatal I'm sorry to hear about that. As someone who used to work at Bestbuy they are the worst. Nothing has changed in the 6 years since I worked there. I used to do exactly what you did.

I hope for your sake they don't try to blame you and discredit your workman's comp for any negligence on your part. They have time if they want to pursue the issue further. The best decision you made was to leave.

Pretty sure I've been dealing with a drug abuser at the office. Last night a patient called saying her friend (also a patient) was in severe pain due to a dental partial, and needed an emergency. I called the doctor, he was out of town but authorized me to call in a script; this is where shit gets suspect. I asked her if her friend was ok with Vicodin and she was like "it makes her nauseous, and we're both recovering addicts so I don't think it's a good idea to prescribe that" (red flag 1). So I offered Percocet, which is slightly less potent than Vicodin and doesn't have hydrocodone in it (which causes nausea in some people). She then proceeds to list off some narcotics she'd rather have (red flag 2), none of which I'd be able to authorize.

After some haggling I got her to accept Tylenol 3, 16 tablets; plus set up an appointment for Tuesday. That was last night around 7pm or so. I had to go into the office today because a repair guy had an appointment to upgrade our x-ray machine. So around 11AM the patient calls back saying her friend is still in pain and is worried about running out of pills. She says she has taken 4 so far, meaning she has 12 left.

me: so she has 12 left?
her: yes but she's gonna run out on monday. can you refill the prescription
me: I cannot refill a narcotic prescription less than 24 hours after it was filed.
her: WHY NOT
me: because that sets off red flags with pharmacists, and the doctor is concerned..
her: he's more concerned about a PHARMACIST than his own patient??!?! are you serious!?!?
me: yes, it's a serious thing...doctors can lose their licenses -
her: his license? my friend is in pain?!?!?! she needs meds
me: but she has 12 left...

5 more minutes of that plus her saying they're reconsidering coming back ever again smh. If you're in severe pain, why can't you take a day off from work to get the earliest possible appointment on Monday? The doctor can give you a sick leave, jesus. Instead she's coming in LATE on Tuesday. It doesn't make any sense, and given the fact that the person in pain never spoke on the phone and how rabid her friend sounded...I'm almost certain they just wanted drugs.

My own mother bless her heart was addicted to vicodin after her first car accident. That eventually escalated when she was in a another car accident and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Then she started to see a pain specialist. Them fuckers were her pushers got her onto triplicate opioids and eventually onto fentanyl. Which she died from toxicity to.

We would fight for days when I was still living with her. It was hard seeing her go down that path and have no recollection of what she was doing to herself.

I sometimes wonder if a wrongful death suit is still possible. I don't know the statues of limitations on such things. But I think about it sometimes. I miss my mom.

pretty sure it depends on what type of vicodin.

nope, oxycodone is intrinsically more powerful than hydrocodone, the codeine in the tylenol 3's you gave them is significantly weaker than both.

I know the Tylenol is weaker, hence me having to haggle to get them to accept it; one of the things offered was Lortab but it was a non-starter since it has hydrocodone.

We have multiple versions of Vicodin and Percocet; the limited Percocet would be slightly less potent than regular Vicodin. Whereas Vicodin ES is obviously stronger

Yea, I know, just pointing out the difference; we've got a "regular" percocet as well as ES too.

ok then, think of percocet on a completely different tier right above vicodin on the pain pill totem pole, no matter how much vicodin you take you will never reach the analgesic potential of percocet.  it's properties are both chemically different and superior.
