I haven't flown in over 15 years, but it looks like I have to at the end of this week. Any tips for how I should pack and whats acceptable. I've also got to worry about if there is enough room on the plane for my fat ass. They didn't tell me to book two seats, and the flight is over 70% sold right now.

In other news I've got a interview in Texas that I'm really excited for.

The baggage rules depend on the airline, I'm assuming for a short trip like that you're probably going to be able to fit everything into your carry-on which is limited to about 15 pounds or 10 kilos, which again depends on the airline. If they already gave you a ticket, I don't think it's very likely for them to make you buy a second seat.

It's so fucking dumb. What is the point of taking exams that are four omgwtf difficulty-level questions when all you ever practice in the homework is a bunch of easy to moderately difficult questions? I've never taken a math class that wasn't like this either. Dumbshit teaching method, IMO. Exams shouldn't be harder than what you practice.

The homework for most math classes is more about teaching your the skills necessary and how to link them together. If you learn them right, then building an eiffel tower is not that hard really. It takes more time and it may seem intimidating when you look at the problem but if you see the solution later, you'll slap your head because it's actually doable.

At least you just have to get above the curve.

Welp, just had a lancing syringe go straight through my right ring finger

I was using it to get a hair out of my knee, dropped it, instinctively grabbed for it, and bam! My landlord pulled it right out and thankfully, it's not gushing or anything. It'll probably be a little sore later.

but it was seriously a mm away from the bone...I slammed the needle hard and if it hit the bone, that would've sucked serious ass shit

it's used off-label for add and it is pretty awesome. YMMV on how long it keeps you up though-- some people can sleep on it, I can't. When I do take it, I pop it in the morning and use like a quarter of a dose.

Very little nervous energy like the meth based pills, not addicting at all, and overall, it's subtle, but definitely works.

This whole thing has reminded me of a small passage, I think from Stephen King's short story which later became The Stand. The narrator talks about a guy who died after the apocalypse from an unattended cavity; the main character now carries floss everywhere because he doesn't want to go out from a tooth infection.

Nerve was dying, so they removed my shiny new crown, drilled out my nerve, and now it is packed full of antibiotics. Dentist says this only happens very rarely, and was sad for me. I am no longer fetal position in pain, so I am taking it as a win.

It is a mixed bag, but generally better than you might expect based on the state of the average person's teeth. I was surprised that it wasn't much, much worse here, TBH.

Orthodonture is only just now beginning to be popular, but it's taking off because Japanese people believe in spending money on their kids at any chance to give them a perceived advantage (see: "juku"). So you may be seeing less snaggle-toothed J-celebrities in the future.

Personally, I had one dentist who was really old school, was skilled but a total stingy bastard with the anesthetic. He's dead now. My next dentist was running a conveyor-belt like operation, had a bunch of junior dentists working instead of him, and made the mistake of telling me a few problems I had with his finished work were "unavoidable."

Now I'm seeing a dentist who is also a drinking buddy; he runs a really upscale office based on patient treatment he's learned internationally in the USA and Korea. It's a good place, and this is the first time in a year that anything has been even slightly amiss.

I can't sleep, so I just traveled through the internetz and found a cache of a site we used to go to as teens. Before there was MySpace and then Facebook followed by Twitter, and then My_____ and Google+, there was STLpunk.com. And it was where all the kids hung out to find out about punk rock shows. And then it blew up with every kid in St Louis that just wanted to talk to their friends, and then it fizzled out when MySpace came to be.

Oh man, so embarrassingly awesome. All the pictures are down, but there's no way those could have been worse than the dumb shit my friends and I talked about.

Got to the airport for my flight this morning only to be told that my ticket was no longer valid. So I called up the company I was traveling out to interview with and was told they had already found someone for the position two days ago. No one even thought to give me a call and let me know.

yeah we spoke briefly. my gf has the same birthday as him so that was her conversation starter. it was pretty cool. we were with my parents so my parents got to meet bill as well. was kind of neat
