Anybody have any experience with tankless water heaters? We need a new water heater anyway, and as long as we get it installed by the end of the year we can get the tax credit for it. Looking into the specifications, it has to have a .82 efficiency and I cannot find a regular-ass tank water heater with anything close to that efficiency (closer to .50-.60). Basically they're forcing you into the tankless heaters to get the credit. So $850 heater, $250 credit, lasts 20 years. Seems better than a 12 year tank heater for $400-500, no credit, and higher energy costs.

The only thing is the installation (which the costs are part of the credit, cha-ching). Direct vent outside is needed. I dunno. A little overwhelmed here.

Alright, go back to talking about computer coding and food now.

What exactly do you need to know? Me and a buddy installed a tankless in his new house when he first got it ~1 year ago. He did most of the research but I'm a little knowledgeable and I can always ask him.

Ok Mups, is it worth it? Did he have problems or does he now? A lot of the reviews on some of the models were shit but some were fine. Was installing the vent a pain in the ass? Did he have to install anything else for the badboy?

Is yours going to be gas or electric? You'll see a bigger difference if you're using gas (his is gas). He said by his estimates it uses 30 to 40 percent less energy than his old one. He hasn't had any problems with his. He got a GE. I don't know how much he paid for it though. Rule of thumb with any appliance in your home, you get what you pay for. Installing the vent was a breeze, but it'll all depend on how your home is designed. If it's somewhere that has easy access to the exterior then it'll be an easy installation as far as the vent goes. But if your husband or whoever is doing the installation and they have general experience with water heaters and/or general appliance installation, it's easy as hell. The internet can fill whatever gaps of knowledge they might have. In my opinion, totally worth it.

If you don't have easy access to the exterior, I'd seriously suggest taking the time to reroute some water piping and making it easier on the installation. You have a lot more options for placement with a tankless water heater and adding pipe is easy enough to take advantage of it.

The one we're looking at isn't top of the line but it's still completely affordable with amazing reviews. I hate this shit. I wanna spend money on bathroom tile or something you see, but if it will help on our bill, that will make me happy.

I both love and hate my job.

Local police want our place to do a production video right? They provided voice overs and the voice over sounds...like...this..except....with...whisper....like...voice.

So I request for new voice overs, tell them to discard what they don't need and what they need while taking care of their video files. Kinda sucks, mostly busy work.

Meanwhile I just came from a morning shoot of a local restaraunt. Took some footage of the chefs cooking, got some free food, and interviewed some people.

So I mostly love it. Good comes with the bad.

She'll be 13 next month. The issue with it is that it breaks school policy and that the girls father is mad. It all sounds stupid as shit.

Just spent the night babysitting the new water pump for the cottages after it lost its prime last night. I'm at a loss, as we'd replaced all the piping from the well to the pump itself in the process.

The upside is at least it happened now, right at the end of the season (we close down for the winter after this weekend) and we only have a handful of cabins rented. If this were happening during peak season when we're full, I'd be looking for a bridge to jump off of. Starting Monday I'll be free to tinker to my heart's content without having to worry about customers in the equation.
