It's not only games, he stole dvds/blurays as well. And he took that I very much WILL play again but that's not the point. The point is that he had the audacity to swipe my shit. That's MY stuff. I believe he took my dad's watch as well, though I can't prove it (yet). The fact we're family makes it even worse.

So my grandma's party was yesterday. My cousin and her fiance stayed at my parents house, and shortly after they got there my dad texted me "her fiance is *ex's name*." That confused me and when I texted back he didn't respond. When I met my parents at my grandma's house later that day I understood what he meant. Her fiance dresses and acts EXACTLY like her ex. Has the whole "grown man in his 30s dressing like a teenager" urban attire look (baggy polo shirt, baggy jeans, baseball hat over wave cap, etc). He's also cross eyed and has messed up teeth.

But he was REALLY cool, I liked him immediately after talking to him a bit. He sat in the back yard with me and my other cousin talking about music, sports, etc. Plus while discussing non hip-hop related music, he uttered the most profound statement I've heard all year: "The Pet Shop Boys had more swagger than any nicca in the 80s, no doubt. They were so hood they didn't look in the camera in their music video." I gave him dap to officially welcome him into the family.

I kinda felt bad for him because one of my uncles kept staring at him, but he seemed to brush it off.

Anyway I got my cousin a card and the third season of The Wire; it's her favorite show and she didn't have it, so yeah; dunno how whether that counts as a good wedding gift or not, but she liked it. Still, she was acting so...weird throughout the party. She didn't help cook anything but felt the need to supervise everything, and at one point told my brother "don't ruin the party, just cook the meat" because he was talking to someone while turning steaks on the grill. smh...

I'm hammered. Just cleaned a laptop's fan, had to remove all the harware parts including the motherbord to reomve some dust. But I managed to droped the temp from 90 C to 40 C. MIssion succesfull. Shall I upload some pics`?

Borders is done, for good. My first job, where I worked at four three and a half years. It's odd, honestly. The corporate structure of Borders was absolutely abysmal, but everyone that I worked with were good people. All nice, all well-meaning, all fun to chat with. I was usually apart of the late shift, and everyone during that shift was the best. All college kids and late 20 something managers who just used the intercom to fuck around with the customers. It was fun a lot of the times. Sad to see some of those people lose their jobs.

There's a lot of bait and switch regarding the term "management" because of the potential ego boosts of the applicants who want a management position and therefore you get more applicants (and probably better qualified applicants). Better than putting down "secretary" or "administrative assistant," which the latter was most likely created because people didn't want to apply to be a secretary.

Fun fact: A HR representative at the company I work for stated that they've received more than double the applicants by hinting at being at management or having potential to go into management.

Basically, shit's done. I hated working for them, but I certainly loved working with the actual people at the stores. It's retail so obviously it sucked but fuck if it wasn't fun at times. I was a book seller, cashier, and barista in the built-in Starbucks, and I met quite a few cool people there. My best friend joined the same week I did and worked there until this happened. It's a shame, she really liked it. Also, one of my managers was a 67 year old retired Spanish teacher who kept on leaving to pursue other interests but would always seem to inch back to the store to take up his job again. I'm concerned what he's going to do now. Nicest guy I've ever met, and truly the type of person who will probably be most affected by this. There was another guy who was like 32 who worked in the café with me who spent his entire twenties living in Brooklyn and playing for several hardcore bands there in that scene. He was friends with the Black Keys guys. I always asked him what the fuck he was even doing working there.

Oh well, everyone saw it coming for years. Just had to happen eventually, and I sincerely hope all my friends who worked there had some sort of backup plan. Christ, I'd probably laugh at them if they didn't. Nothing more embarrassing than being on the shit-end of the stick, ball-licking for a sinking ship.

Yeah, I worked for Borders for 2 years back in the day. I was in charge of Magazines. It was the easiest job I ever had, and the people who worked there were awesome. In fact, most of my friends are ex-borders employees.

Yeah it was a pretty piss easy job if they shoved me in the back of the store in charge of movies. As little customer contact as possible. Fuck I hate people.

It was pretty stressful when we had to do inventory though. Thank god retail is not my profession, I wouldn't handle all the shitty things that go hand in hand with that sort of job. Terrible schedule, awful people, shitty corporate overhead...yuck

Yeah that sounds pretty familiar. I started taking college classes at 13 in math and CS, fucked up and never got a degree, although sadly in my case there wasn't a young woman involved.

I dunno if this is something that works in general or just a weird anomaly, but what eventually worked for me is doing a lot of CS study on my own and then getting a sort of semiskilled IT job, which was shitty but gave me the chance to gradually take on more programming responsibilities as they realized I could. Then the connections I made there helped me get better jobs, and eventually once you have enough experience it doesn't really matter so much whether you have a degree.
