So my Mom put me in a weird spot. She's doing this run/walk for juvenile diabetes thing. She told me about it and I told her I didn't want to participate or be a part of it. I am diabetic, but I find a lot of medical research funding to be questionable and seemingly for profit. For decades, I've heard about new developments that research has found that will find a cure in just a metter of years only for that to mysteriously vanish or remain forever in "testing". I just don't like the whole business of it.
But that doesn't mean I am going to tell her to not do what she wants. She told me she was going to ask CG and others if they want to sponsor her. Again, that's up to others and I'm not going to tell her no or decide what other people choose to do.
But now I find out that this is being doing through a website with my name attached to it and I'm kind of pissed. It's basically "The race for Joseph" (me). I told her I don't want to participate or be a part of it. She knows how I feel about the nature of research funding. Now she's trying to talk people into sponsoring via me as the conduit.
I can't tell her to stop and take it down, because it is a nice thing she is doing. She's just going against my wishes about it. If I ask her to just take my name off it, she'll get pissed. I doubt she could even figure out how to do that anyways.
