If you're working for them, $50/hour is a badge of self-respect. And if they call on you less because of it, when they /do/ call you, you'll be making more while limiting your time around them.

If you're pricing designs out to someone else, a direct client, estimate your hours --including revisions-- and give a total amount, not an hourly one on the estimate.

Staying anywhere more than 2 years should really only be because you love what you're doing and where you are doing it. Staying means losing money and loyalty doesn't exist.

Far easier to find the position you want externally than keep going on promises and wishes of internal transitions / promotions.

So I received some news about our project that it will most likely be spun down and I don't know how to feel about this. It'd be nice if we could ship something, but the powers that be are shuttering multiple projects right now. We just so happen to be an easy target due to past management. I hope this isn't due to anything I personally did on this project because that would surely suck. This project has been very behind and over budget since before I ever came into the picture. Maybe it's just not shaping up into anything they are willing to release with the new movie coming out next year. I'll be finding out later today whats going on and hopefully have a better idea as to what I'll be doing in the near future.

This sucks, but its par for the course I guess. I didn't even get a damn desk yet!

BTW at the bar I ordered vodka straight twice, once neat, once on the rocks. On the rocks cost an extra dollar twenty-five. Those had better have been fucking Fiji Water ice cubes in that drink.

e: Also, is ordering straight unusual or something these days? Every time I order it now I get a look from whomever is serving me. This was an alcoholic bar too, so last night it wasn't done out of concern.

As long as the vodka is cold enough or there's enough ice it's fine. I actually prefer my vodka this way usually though I've been enjoying vodka tonics more recently. Next you have a bottle at home or something, keep it in the freezer and just try some by itself. It's good, even if it's okay tier vodka.

In general (gin being the only exception) I drink all liquors straight, not just vodka, so sorry to have derailed your crafted narrative about me. idk what your problem is with that (maybe you should stop drinking Popov ), but, as always, thanks for the rip.

As for why, I don't drink wine and it's kind of gauche (and callow) to order mixed drinks (or beer) at the business dinners I attend. (#karakandproblems) And a long time ago I was a power drinker for many years which more or less killed my taste for what I would term "pleasurable drinking".

Your attribution would be wrong, it stems from drinking the cheapest, most god awful vodka the world has to offer during the phase of my life where the cost of a bottle mattered more to me than its actual quality. This is actually how I fell into drinking gin, a fifth of the grocery store brand was $1 cheaper than its vodka brand counterpart.

At a dinner I usually have scotch before the main course and grappa (if available) after it. Vodka is too... proletarian in those situations.

I wish it was more popular here, there are usually only 1-3 offerings on a drink list (if it is on the list) and I only drink it at meals so I have no idea whatsoever what good grappa is supposed to taste like. #karakandproblems

Andrex (and other tech boffins), is there a way to design a TV that can switch between aspect ratios without losing pixels?
So it can go from 16:9 to 4:3, but it never displays black bars - the pixels are like moved around to reassamble into the new aspect ratio?
