I've just discovered that the dealer I once bought my Mazda 6 at now has a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 2008 Sports Sedan sitting there all alone.
I'm heading there tomorrow to check it out.



 

It seems a step back in terms of comfort but looks and sounds like it's reliable and fun to drive. Not to mention it's relatively cheap compared to a Hyundai i20 with -10 horsepower.
In that sense it's a bit below by budget but I won't mind driving this beast if it performs well during a test run and save a little until something better comes on my path.

I'll probably get a good deal because I'm trading my car nobody wanted in for a new car that nobody wants. Because they're all boring fucks.

I had a really weird and vivid dream last night that started in some kind of weird indoor obstacle course/maze/escape scenario. I got to the last room but apparently missed some object I needed in the first room and was carted away onto a plane. The plane ride became violently turbulent and then I was aware we were flying into this tunnel galaxy thing but when we got off the plane it seemed like we were in some kind of crazy giant underwater frigate type thing. Basically Shanghai’d there, I had weird interactions with various crew who were obviously keeping me in the dark about something and I was trying to figure it out. That’s when a wormy/leechey parasite rose to the surface of my arm. And that’s when the cat woke me up. It was bizarre and now you’ve wasted your time reading this shabby account of it.

Went to park on Sunday to walk the dog.  A minivan with a "U.S.S. Enterprise" logo was in front of us.  Parked the car in front of a little fenced-in field area.  There were several people dressed in fencing gear and some dressed in 'cosplay' style medieval armor holding big plastic sticks, battling.  And by battling I mean doing stupid poses and then charging at each other, all while this older sort of "Obiwan" nerd looked on, nodding accordingly.

Update on the Lancer. Today I went to check it out and for a 9 year old car it looks brand new. The previous owner took great care of it and the dealership owner offered me a 1 year extended warranty and the winter tires as part of the deal.
Looking at taking it for a spin this friday to see if it drives as good as it looks.

Also, he's willing to pay me 750 euro for my 14 year old Mazda 6 which is no longer allowed on the road by December.

So today I took the Lancer for a spin.

It will take some time getting used to (after all I've driven my old car for 5 years) but this car was surprisingly nimble and easy to drive.
Needless to say I decided to buy it there and then. The car market here is basically 'small efficient' and 'Boomer SUV's'.
So the car guys get excited too when they get to sell you a fun car and you have more interest in the horsepower and handling than how much 'noise' it makes.

Toronto, from what I have seen of it is really nice.  From the north, to the south, east and west, all walls of my apartment look great.  The walk to work is very beautiful, the view from work better, and at night its even nicer.  All three restaurants I know of are easily somewhere on the 10 point scale.  Also, I hear its not easy to actually get into Canada, especially if you have any kind of record.  You should look into it.

Had some good times in the office yesterday.

We played Cards against Humanity and everytime something dark or political came up (Holocaust Jokes, Ronald Reagan, whatevs) everyone was bascially like: "Lol, this one is for Nintex"
I did get in one of the best jokes:

Although I must say that CAH stays interesting for about 20 - 30 minutes tops then everyone gets bored.

Got a bit creeped out when taking the dog out tonight.  Went out to the street and she did her business on some grass next to the entrance.  Felt like I was being watched, looked up towards the street and saw someone walking with a light, on the other side of the road, who stopped moving as soon as I looked in their direction.  Looked down at the dog and back up and they had moved slightly.  Started walking in their direction and they began walking normally.  Was then able to see them better and it appeared to be a girl wearing a hoodie that hid her face, walking a huge white dog.  They didn't make a sound and when I got closer, my dog flipped out and started growling and barking at them.  The other dog did nothing and there was no reaction from the girl.  My dog almost never flips out like this, but whatever, kept on walking.  She did her thing again and I turned around to go home.

Saw the girl go into the condo subdivision across from mine when I was walking back.  Then suddenly when I got to mine and was going to go into it, the girl bolts across the road with her dog and my dog again flips the hell out and is acting really upset, pulling hard to go run after them.  I stopped and calmed her down a bit.  The girl and her dog again make zero noises and seemingly disappear when I turn to go in. 

Then I see them standing off to the side on a curb.  The girl is standing with her back to me not moving and her dog is facing me, staring, still not making a sound.  The girl appears to be looking at a phone screen.  I go to get the mail and turn back to see if she's still there.  She has now moved up a little sidewalk towards the pool area.  It's locked down at this time of year and she's right up at the gate just staring into darkness. 

Went home and glanced back one more time from the front porch.  Saw a light shining and moving around in a little wooded area next to the mailboxes.  It again stopped moving when I was looking. 

Did not recognize the dog and am pretty sure whoever that was doesn't live here.  They weren't doing anything wrong, but it was oddly unsettling.  Hard to tell if she was on something or maybe just super shy, but it's not normal to go walk around neighborhoods at night and just stand there doing nothing.  Fucking weird.
