this sport is bullshit

Pretty much. If this WC doesn't get FIFA to revamp their reffing structure then its just them wanting to influence the game at the officiating level.

And just like that, because of shitty referees, this World Cup doesn't make a positive impression on USA people.

Even though we advance the US will still have a negative impression of the World Cup.  Shitty refs and an organization that doesn't support replays made it so the US had to score that last minute goal to not get eliminated when they should have won the group with 7 points without it.

I hate the argument that "the USA put themselves in that position" as if getting another goal to clear the ones taken away from them is expected ('cause goals come that easily). Just backwards logic from the people defending FIFA. Someone definitely needs to be done, of course the world won't listen since its been the US on the brunt end of the bad officiating.

I can honestly understand one game out of the tournament (or teams history) having such a miscall that changes the games outcome but two, two! one game after each other we've gotten a goal taken away 'cause of bad eyes or other motives. It ain't right.

That's how soccer works.

The US had plenty of opportunities, there were dirty challenges by Algeria, and some costly missed calls by the refs. It was just the perfect storm.

But then we broke free! Woo! USA! :american

Because modern technology can be manipulated very easily?

Like, are you seriously asking why they don't rely on replays alone to make a decision?

It's more than archaic, it's downright stupid.  Give the coaches the ability to challenge 3 calls a game and have challenge times added to stoppage time.  Then you have a sport that doesn't take considerably longer and isn't ruled by refs.  This is somehow a laughable idea to the Europeans, though.  England wouldn't be upset at all if they had gone home with 3 points instead of advanced with 7 because of 2 huge blown calls.

Plus it doesn't even need to be the field ref that has to go to some booth to check replays. They could make the decisions more dynamic by having a panel on hand somewhere in the stadium that can get a jump on the reviewing process. Shit, the process'll probably be faster than it takes for an Italian player to get up after feigning injury.

Baseball hates replay just as much as soccer, pretty much. Replays for only HR calls isn't much at all.

Right, the coach holds up the little blue card.

Don't you think the coach should have like a blue staff, and raise it along with the little blue card?
