It's doable solo, but you gotta be pretty patient. If you have the Combustion pyromancy spell, that knocks off a good amount of the skinny's health. Thread them around the pillars until he dashes at you (which could take awhile since he likes to stand around throwing lightning), light him up a couple times, guard, light him up again until the fatty gets there and run away. Repeat until dead. I imagine you can do the same thing with regular weapons, just gotta be more wary of getting charged by the fatty. The spell ensures that your stamina is always full so if he charges your ass, you're not gonna get obliterated.

yeah, I'm upgrading my goddo fingah to wreck him. I already went back and took care of the stray demon to calm myself down.

I'm upset that the titanwhatit chunks seem rare at this point. I want to my my zap katana to +5 but I spent too many on my zap spear $:-\$

and I gave up trying to be nice to cat bitch. Cat bears? dead. mushroom people? dead. once I'm strong enough to use my dragon bow I'm gonna launch the cat into orbit.

Tonight I made it back to the depths, was sad the Butchers don't respawn (they're about as tough as Darkroot's golems, which respawn), and went through the grey fog wall. As sewers go, that's a pretty great view. At least I won't be fighting in someone's pantry this time.

Got the Evil Eye Ring, wearin' 'dat now. Tried to find ANY way down that didn't involve dropping blindly into a hole, and finally begrudgingly did did just that. Seems like any "wet" enemy really doesn't like fire much. Slimes and frogs, fwoooosh. Only being hit by rats, and that is just carelessness. I am liking Incendiary so far.

I'm probably going to want to retry the area without using my magic before the boss though. Oh, and probably want to be Human so I can bring Solaire to this party as well.

Now you've got the Lordvessel. You can either A) bring it Frampt in Firelink, or B) kill the Four Kings in The Abyss and give it to Kaathe. If you give it to Kaathe, you can join the Darkwraith covenant and earn a red eye orb with infinite uses.

after this entire ghost hunting, dark skull warrior, giant blob killing, I see signs telling me to wear my giant wolf ring. I do and step forward. I fall for like 5 seconds...BOSS BATTLE GO!

there's not even a bonfire. I had no flasks at that point.

Gonna dump my current character because multiplayer is too rare at this point. I idled for a few hours in front of the final boss, and I only helped people kill him a few times. And since you need either 50 faith or 8-9 successful co-op runs in order to join the sun covenant, I got sick of wasting time and decided to glitch to the level cap (700 something). Might as well have an ultimate character if I ever feel like screwing around I guess.

goddammit this game gets really cheap sometmies

right now it's an area where you can't see without equiping an item (which stops you from attacking quickly or blocking), two guys shooting arrows at you, enemies that can kill you in one hit, and the lock on system is fucking awful it breaks if you move back 5 feet.

I still don't get why I need lock on to hold my shield in a direction and walk backwards.

I was able to justify exploiting the forest farming spot, but 1000,000 souls in seconds is just... wrong.

Either kill them with a divine weapon (or so i've heard), or kill the mages that are reviving them.

Killed the Gaping Vag Dragon, took me 3 tries. First two times, I forgot that I wanted to be Human for the fight so I could summon Solaire. On the third try, Solaire was sufficiently distracting that Gaping Dragon was down to 2/3 HP before Solaire ate it, and then I was just VERY safe in terms of trying to stay away from the dragon's front facing. I was down to my last Estus even with that, and my teeth were grinding and toes were curling with excitement as I finished it off.

Then I foolishly wasted its 25K Souls on Faith which apparently I'll never use.

Then I forgot that there was a LOCKED door right outside the boss area, so I thought I had to go to New Londo Ruins finally. Ghosts there beat me up a lot, even when I had the Transient Curse/Hand of Glory active. Ghosts can attack through walls and stuff. That's not cool.

So I died a few times, and rushed back to get my stuff. I'm hoping Transient Curses are regular drops, because I don't fancy the idea of having to pay waterway witch Souls for more Hands, just to get abused by ghosts.

I am already feeling a little weird about exploiting the Darkroot Garden area. I'm not going to do this. Actually, it will probably be patched by the time I get there anyway!

It will be patched in 1.04, since the translated changelog mentioned infinite item and soul use.

I'm close to that area right now, and the greed is about to get the best of me.

Speaking of greed, the Great Hollow is a terrible place for someone like me :'(

My level was higher than you when I entered, but if you know where you're going, and you're equipped with a spider shield (100% poison resistance) and have a few good fire spells, you should be fine. The real threat comes from the blowdart snipers (toxic ailment), so if you discover their direction, hold you shield up accordingly. The other threats are manageable, imo.

I just did New Londo at around 50 and it was pretty easy for the most part if you take it slow. Once you open the shortcut, you don't need to engage the ghosts at all. Don't be afraid to use that transient curse the first time to pick up items and activate the shortcut. After that you can pretty much run past all the ghosts. oh, and a tip for saving time is to always activate an elevator before stepping off. the one place a ghost will give you trouble is if you need to pull the level and wait for the elevator.

note that you won't be able to complete new londo without

you equip it at the end and jump into a dark pit. immediately there is a boss fight, but it's really easy if you're prepared.

and that infinite glitch is too much. even when I grind in darkroot, it's always just enough to level me up once or buy/upgrade something. I don't want to break the game or anything. the challenge is fun...most of the time. the game gets annoying with mobs of enemies.

anor londo boss is still tough. Might consider killing the cool young dude first, else the will to life might leave my brittle husk.

Also, had a bit of a grind session in the darkroot getting 70k. Thinking I was all big and shit, ended up with enough to level just three times.

your endurance (green bar under health) recharges a bit quicker

it's the grass something shield, right? I think it only blocks 90% physical damage, so it's not as good as other shields you should have at that point (the flame or magic blocking variants). there are other stamina boosting items too. I have the ring equipped most of the time.

this is my dude so far:

i can kill everything in undead burg/parish without a problem now.

in darkroot i spent a good amount of time killing those big moss covered knights (by getting them stuck in the geometry) and also killed the silver night in darkroot basin. those ice creatures are also no problem as well.

i got a little ahead of myself and ended up dying to the moonlight butterfly.

so now i went and poked around the cemetery near firelink shrine. had no real issue with the skeletons and i killed the big dude. i may continue to go down that path and see what's over there.

I got up to the lever for the elevator, but couldn't pull it. I assume that means I'm supposed to work my way to the other end of it.

The area right around there spawns a sequence of maybe 5 or 6 ghosts in an ambush. It seems like I can hit them with a sword, but not fireballs. If they clip through a wall, I waste shots swinging, hitting the wall, becoming unready, and then the other ghosts get me from the side or rear. :-/

when I climbed out I killed him instantly. I later read that he comes a merchant at firelink if you answered no...oh well.

I abused the infinite soul glitch right at the end. As expected , it dilutes the point of the game, but at that point I was ready to finish up and just wanted to spend souls buying and upgrading everything. Ended up at SL 179

I got invaded for only the third time in the game when I was soul level 176, it was hilarious.

he was surprisingly manageable. My Golem Axe was just quick enough to get a hit in every between every couple of blocks + just dodge his grab move and use all your great chaos fireballs andhe's pretty much down.

Finished up with 500 gamerscore. Doesn't look that bad to 1000 so I'll probably come back to it during a lull period.

Right now I'll finish up Rage and prep for BF3.

Dark Souls is an amazing game and practically had me by the balls where I could barely think about anything else, let alone touch another game during my playtime.

The only achievement that's really annoying is the one for acquiring all miracles, because you have to buy some from a vendor who's easy to miss, and rank up a few covenants that have annoying donation items. Other than that, the 1000 is just a time investment, just like Demon's Souls. I guess finding all of the rare weapons can be annoying too if you have bad luck, but I didn't need to spend more than 30 minutes or so getting the few weapons that I needed.
