haven't they released a paint application on DSi called flipnote studio? you can even send your work online and share them online so ehy by nintendo standard they have done way more than they usualy do... here's the site where you can see various work done with the program,there is even a lot of cool stuff to see

even $40 for a mario platformer makes me cringe a bit. Games like picross should be $10 or less. Apple really undermined the idea that every game X Big Company makes has to be $40 to $50, even if it's short on features and content.
