I'm not banned on GAF nor bitter about GAF, but then I've always used it to post in a few fun community type threads for games or TV shows or something while making relevant or terrible comments in others. And checking the "news" on one source while enjoying the various stupidity that all forums have. And I know we get laughs from some of that stupidity, and I like to share laughs. Or fail at sharing laughs, either way it's nothing malicious.
I apparently make 2.62 posts a day on GAF and 2.42 posts a day here. And I'm fairly new here. Got 3 posts a day on another forum I've been on for years. There's cool dudes here, cool dudes on GAF, cool dudes in lots of places, we can't post on multiple places that have cool dudes? This place is pretty tight-knit, GAF is sprawling and massive, I won't be a cool dude in either place but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the cool dudes in each.
Having experienced running a "popular" fan site for a game series for a number of years back in the 2000s, there's this weird tribalism among those in the same space, and especially against those either cast off from one or who forge their own thing. Even personal differences become these tribal affairs where people line up on sides and try to declare their allegiance and fight to defend the original or whatever tribe.
It's like we just can't enjoy a pile of cool dudes wherever we can find them.
