I wonder how easy it would be to trick Manos into admitting that his philosophy boils down to a victory, or a triumph, really, of the human spirit, or "will" if you must
he's one of any number of dedicated internet libertarian narcissists. the absolute worst thing you can do to these fruit loops is to completely and utterly disacknowledge and ignore them. if you MUST engage, adopt an arch, patronizing tone. gets 'em every time.
never, EVER try subtlety. it goes over their head, and you wind up validating them.
I'm not sure if labeling him an "Internet libertarian" is quite right. Most Internet libertarians do lots of handwringing over "the militarization of police" and would never be cheerleading police beat downs like he is.
put "libertarian" in quotes. their only ACTUAL ideological allegiance is to their ego, which is often defined by opposing "groupthink lliberals" -- to the point that they often stray into untenable conservative positions, including religious apologism. i call 'em libertarians because their core tenet is that "if this country were more free, everyone would have a chance to be ALMOST as awesome and successful as me!"
The irony being a bunch of them are just lazy ass fucks on the computer all day in their parent's homes.
it's dangerous to assume that if your goal is their public humiliation. many of them are successful engineers, or lawyers, and have achieved some limited level of internet notoriety and accomplishment -- maybe published a shitty sci-fi novel or three, or made money off of property investments in the early oughts. they usually have a coterie of slavish followers whom they groom and then ignore, and who provide the cheering squad for their narcisstic soapboxing. the point of note is the fact that for all of their limited success -- because it IS limited, given that their personal obsession and drive can never overwhelm their lack of social skills or applied knowledge -- they feel hollow and held-back, but are fundamentally incapable of acknowledging their own shortcomings and failings, that they aren't the ubermensch alterego they've constructed in their heads, and that much of their success, despite their drive (remember, these folks have the energy and focus to spend whole DAYS locked with laser intensity on a single forum thread, imagine what they do in business), was ultimately enabled by others. they also get a niggling sense of "not getting it" -- that the real public intellectuals look down on them, as the aspertarians typically cannot discuss the humanities in any way that resonates with other people. they KNOW they're three-quarters of a human being (and a quarter sociopath), and that's why they REALLY cannot handle being treated as a lesser creature. (also, they probably got any number of wedgies in high school.) they tend to be bros, because, y'know, testosterone, but i work with a few wimmenfolk who fall into this category hard core, and there's a few prominent female internet bloggers (a particular sex blogger comes to mind) with this issue.
some, like hans, are largely failures in life. they can't connect with people. and many of the gaf libertard set are complete basement dwelling failures. still, it is better to assume that they have SOME success in life, because it makes your responses even harsher, and you not only remind them explicitly but implicitly of their complete personal failings when they're of the hans variety, but you've also protected your window of opportunity if they have some credentials to spew. it's fun trolling!
ANYWAY tl;dr. never assume the aspertarian is a "life failure", because he or she will DELIGHT at the chance to repost (again and again) their particular bona fides -- the list that DEFINES their entire sense of self-worth -- and once THAT's been introduced, woe betide the entire thread. you've already lost.
