That had no bearing on MH jumping ship. MH jumped ship right after MHP3rd launched on PSP in December 2010. Months before the PSP HD re-release line started. I have to imagine SCEJ knew Capcom was already making a 3DS game at that point so why they made MHP3rd the sole crown of that line is beyond me. Should've given that place to a SEGA game or something, since their support for Sony platforms are more than just ports.

Capcom's just really shitty. They sprang for an online mode for the western release of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Garbage Can Man would know for sure, but I'm fairly certain the PSP MH titles easily outsold that game in the west.

I'm pretty sure Tatsucap was championed by probably like one person at Capcom and the higher ups were like "SHUT UP FINE OK YOU CAN DO IT" and proceeded to add online and make other changes for an international release that, even without those, was dubious in making its budget back thanks to licensing fees alone. I'd have loved to have an Iwata's Asks for that game.

Tri is really really fun. Online and off, although online has the edge for obvious reasons.

Only bad part is the load screens and it doesn't even run at 480p.

Wish the game had seamless zones. Looking forward to 4.

it's the multiplayer that makes the game special,you end up holding a weird sense of camaraderie,one missions was about killing 2 monsters so we split up into 2/2 teams and then the other 2 guys joined after they were done and we kicked the ass of the remaining one

i think one of the reason the game doesn't click with people is that the game tries to force new player into sword & shield or the great sword,the sword and shield just plain suck and the great sword is pretty hard to use,using the spear is what i suggest every new player of the game

I've owned MHF2, and MHFU as well as trying some of Tri at a friend's house. Lifelong fan and I have to say Tri G is one of the best games of all-time, it shames every single 3DS game and has the sales to back it up.

You're probably thinking "why should Sony have to do it, what benefit is it to them?", and that's exactly why they've managed to lose virtually every third party exclusive that mattered.  MH is with Nintendo right now but that doesn't mean it always has to be.  Do a little footwork courting it.

Pretty sure Nintendo's left no room on Capcom's knob for Sony's tongue.

Err, I actually still own both a UMD and PSN copy of MHFU. I gave those games a chance, and I'm certain if you look through my post history on GAF I've said I didn't like them prior to the 3DS reveal. I don't suddenly hate games because they're not on my hardware of choice.

Monster Hunter is my most played game from the launch of the PSP till now, only other thing i've played more is PSO

Monster Hunter is probably the most talked about game in "hardcore gamer" circles that I never cared for at all.

Monster Hunter is one of the few big Japanese series that I have no interest in whatsoever. Played some of the Wii game and just couldn't get into it, was way too sluggish and grindy.

please note - Portable players didn't jump over to play the Wii Tri MH game so their interest in playing 3DS 3G is unlikely to be massive : you'll note it sold more in line with Tri than 3rd / 2nd G / 2nd

It went above Capcom's expectations by like 30% so far and will keep selling well until 4 comes out. Far more people have jumped to 3DS for Tri G than Wii for Tri.

Assuming you mean not the PSP iterations? I started life as a Dual Sword player but eventually settled into a long and great sword specialist.

Yes thankfully. I wanted to use it when I got Tri as well. So I chose Longsword BUT THEN THEY LOCKED IT OUT FOR OVER 75% OF THE GAME

i tried to jump to great sword, but couldnt cut it. i probably need more time with a team. so i stuck around with the sword and shield.
