Eh, I had work I didn't feel motivated to work on today.

Still I'd like to know what world GAF lives in where false rape allegations don't have punitive repercussions like perjury or false reporting a crime. Nor where some are so deluded they think being raped is less damaging to someone's life than being falsely accused. Guess they don't know enough victims or something. Not that a victim would tell some of them given their attitudes. Fucking conniption fits every time over something that's such a rare occurrence, I don't understand it. I know of about 3 women who were raped (because they told me) and every other friend has had some instance of sexual assault then an article like the one in the OP comes along to tell the very worst tale of a false rape allegation. The irony forever being if sex weren't so "shameful", if this country wasn't so "puritan" and if various aspects of "slut" derived attitudes didn't exist, the false rape allegation, which is already pretty low, would be even less of a burden.

Well, it's just a matter of what's relevant to them. Like, if we are looking at me specifically, rape isn't a big concern in my life. I don't plan to rape anyone, nor do I foresee getting raped. As such, rape isn't a very scary threat. It IS theoretically possible that a woman could accuse me of rape (though I'm personally not all that worried about that), so, from a selfish standpoint, it's easy to understand why people in my demographic would focus more on this scary story than scary stories of rape.

I just caution not to get carried away with that narrow worldview and lose perspective. I mean, yes, false rape charges should be discouraged, but how do we make sure that stories like this don't happen again? Because that would be swell. But before focusing on just that, how do you do so without adding undeserved skepticism towards anyone who presses rape charges? Furthermore, are false rape charges even as pervasive and dangerous as one story might lead us to suspect that it demands such urgency?

For someone making hundreds of thousands of dollars of profit from a site, Ty really doesn't seem to want to spend even a smidegen of a percentage of that money on decent servers. Avatars have stopped working and we're getting 503 errors pretty much every day now and it isn't even E3 yet. Something tells me that this won't be the year that GAF finally doesn't crash during E3.

the servers that host gaf are pretty epic already actually; its just that the demand is too much at peak time, even for that kind of hardware, and getting more hardware, at those kind of levels, isnt cheap

It's very rarely happened to me (i.e. twice in my life), but both times it has involved the following combination:

1. Drinking for an extended period of time (i.e. starting off in the early afternoon and going all day).
2. Switching to hard alcohol after starting with beer/other light drinks.
3. Being around other people also drinking heavily that goad you on.

I blacked out drunk once when I was 20.  I was at a party, got so wasted that I could barely function.  Next thing I know, I'm in my bed and it's the next day.  Friends insisted that I walked out on my own (I thought maybe they took my drunk ass home).  I was pretty freaked out at the time and really cut back on my drinking after that.  I drank more before I was 21 than after.
