Why is that?

Because MS started with an initial entree into the console jungle with a thing of pure deliciousness, replete with quirky games and the power of RARE. But slowly the old guard, y'know, people who actually gave a shit about making unique fun, were replaced with vacuous pricks like E, Stepto, beancounters, focus-testing, moneyhats, PR felch-pipes and most recently Mattrick.

Nintendo as a company has massive autism, but it at least focuses on games. And even Sony, with the Lik Sang disgrace etc etc have actually got a pretty decent 1st Party entourage. MS have Halo and Forza, and turned Rare into a Kinect battery-farm, run by a massive prick, who, if his employees were actual chickens would sexually abuse them in a fowl and disgraceful manner.

TBH MS are heading for a big huge tumble with the next console, and its going to be awesome to watch.

I think the 720 is poised to dominate next generation.

Sony these days is barely a shell of what they were in the PS2 days and in spite of numerous fuck ups, they still don't really learn their lessons.  The PS4 will most likely commit numerous cardinal sins that the PS3 and Vita committed.  Not to mention a lot of their IPs took a big drop in sales.  As much as they tried, LBP and Killzone aren't going to be significant franchises.  Gran Turismo is no longer the force it was and I could see the God of War franchise hitting a wall.  They got nothing.

The Wii U is trying to take marketshare that is currently under the iron fist of Apple.  It will be much harder convincing grandma to get another Wii system, considering how most of them have been stuck inside closets since 2009 if sales are any indicator.

So that leaves the 720, which, in spite of slumping sales, is the clear HD console winner this generation except Japan, which has significantly dwindled in importance anyway.  Except the 720 will more or less win by default, which raises concerns that Microsoft might half ass a lot of things because they know Sony doesn't know their assholes from a hole dug in the ground and lol Nintendo.  A lot of their apps, smart glass, etc. are all beta tests for the 720 to see what works and what doesn't.  Although it was no PS2, the 360 had a good variety of software that anyone can enjoy.

I think 720 is in trouble because they've made X360 the only home entertainment box you need, focused on non-gaming, and now people will be like "why do I gotta upgrade?"

If all you get is games with better graphics, and people hardly play games anymore, it's going to sell far less than x360.  I think Wii U will have the same problem.  Everyone has a Wii for party gaming, why bother upgrading.

PS4 is a big at this point.  People still like the Playstation brand, it's still primarily poised as a game brand with all the right games.  But Sony continually makes bad decisions on aspects of their hardware and their marketing is AWFUL and they fail to create brand awareness.  The way they are treating Vita makes me very worried about how they're going to roll out PS4 next year.
