it's my hard line stance to not trust anyone who claims to use the shit he said he was using "recreationally."  So if he was really doing all that, I'd guess he's totally lying about rehab.  but Amirox always gave me the "lying about doing lots of drugs to look cool" vibe.    I dunno, maybe he's one of those functional addicts that goes nuts every once in a while and can get away with lying to himself about it because he makes it to work every day or something.

Let me be absolutely crystal clear.  There is only one minor, but significant, detail that has made the difference in me picking up the phone on Amirox.  And that is, of course, nationality.

If he were a supervisor at a Canadian military logistics depot, rather than an American military logistics depot, the very moment I found out his identity and job, I would have phoned up the base commander.  There is no question that an oxy addict in a supervisory position at a military logistics depot is a security risk.  The only thing that has saved his ass is that he lives and works about 250 miles, and an international border, southeast of me.

As it is, I'm not sure if it's my place to speak up in a cross-border issue like this.  But if I were FBI rather than RCMP, he would certainly have gotten an earful from his CO loooong ago.

Okay, Real Talk:

A)  I want to keep investigating fascinating and challenging cases.  Stuff I've been a part of in just five years has already made regional and national news, and I think that's cool as hell.

B)  I'd like to make Sergeant, at least.  Sergeant in the RCMP is the rank where you're making pretty good bank, and you're leading an investigative team of 6-10 people.  Anything on top of that, Staff Sergeant, or a Commissioned rank of Inspector or above, would just be gravy.

On an aside of that, I'd love to do an International Peacekeeping gig.  The Force regularly sends officers overseas doing training/development missions in places like Haiti, Afghanistan, South Sudan, etc.  Wouldn't mind doing a few years in the Arctic as well.

When I first joined, I thought I might want to join ERT (our SWAT), but since then, I've become more of a specialized warrant-writing guy, so ERT might stall my career in that direction.

I had 9 years of martial arts training before I joined the RCMP.

It was not required, but it was definitely an advantage.  There are two combat proving sessions at the academy, called "Rings".  The first is standup striking, the second is groundfighting.

In striking, I knocked down my opponent in the first 30 seconds, then cruised to victory for another minute until the match was called.

In groundfighting, I caught my opponent in an armbar in 9 seconds, and that was that.

As I believe I had discussed before, because of the political pressures between America and Canada, if legalization of marijuana was to occur, the USA would lead things well before Canada.  Things are currently proceeding according to how I would have predicted.

I had pretty much thought that before I was known on GAF and here as the "Mountie guy" that I was the "martial arts guy". 

I started karate at 13 under Shawn Tompkins, a karate instructor who jumped into MMA and became a trainer of Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin, etc.  Earned my black belt in karate at 19, and pretty much stopped the karate then.

I started doing a bit of kickboxing at 17, and continued it on and off for five years.  Haven't really done any kickboxing for the past 3-4 years.

Started Brazilian Jiu-jitsu at age 20, and despite some extended injury layoffs, have  kept at it since.

Or, in short:  I've been training in the martial arts for 15 years, and as much as EviLore may brag about his martial arts prowess on GAF, I would spank him silly.

We had belt resets from junior to senior so i got back to brown belt but never went for black - which i regret

There's a couple of full contact karate clubs near the house (one is literally 30m away) that the wife has suggested i get involved with, but i think that's just so i get badly hurt lol.

you could be on to something...for most games (usually older ones, not recent releases), I usually go to gamefaqs to discuss gameplay, believe it or not.  Usually cause I'm checking out a faq or have a question.   Some boards can be rough though.  Final Fantasy boards are half about the game, half fighting about whether the FF game the board is for is better than VII or not.

edit: you know what, even a lot of the general system boards have more focused discussions than GAF threads.  There are threads where the rage over something stupid boils over, but it's no worse than the passive aggressive needling and non-argument arguments that happen in gaf threads.

I don't know why that thread is all about drugging drinks in the first place. If someone, male or female, covered their drink when I started talking to them, I would assume its because I'm chucking spittle or they have had that happen in the past. Bar lighting can sometimes make it very visible if it does happen.

But no lets have pages of man angst over a potentially trivial nothing and then cry in the dating threads about striking out at bars.
