  • Are you badass enough to powershift (im not- I am afraid)?
  • Did you replace your stick shift with one of those eightball lookin things?
  • FUCKIN SPEEDBUMPS

I drive a manual.  No downshifting.  No fuzzy dice, dammit!  No power shifting

Get a headback exhaust system, new intake and a ported intake manifold!  Make your girl hum!

When I was buying my car, it was between an Alero and a Mustang that were the same price. The bank would only give me the loan for the Alero cause it had 40,000 less miles. Automatic :fbm

The exhaust run around $1k and it's easy enough you can install it yourself.  It will take a couple of hours but it's nothing complicated.  Unbolt this, bolt this new one on.  You can get a catback exhaust system instead for much cheaper and it's easier.  But she won't growl the same way.  If you were to have someone install it, it would probably be like 200 bucks.

a ported intake manifold requires having the one on your car machined.  So it's not really viable if this is your only transportation because you'll have to remove it and take it somewhere.  Cost ranges from how much you want machined and who's doing it.  But I got the one on my Corvette done for $175 and it was cake to put back on myself.  Don't know what it would cost to have someone do it.

A new air intake varies greatly.  anywhere from a simple filter addition to a whole new unit.  I would get at least a new filter and a shroud.  A K&N filter and shroud is usually 100 - 200 bucks and the filter is usually washable so you never have to get a new one again.  It just helps your car breathe better pretty much.  This is the easiest one to put on.  The one on my car was put on in about 5 minutes.  I undid a clamp, removed the old filter and unit and put the new one on and redid the clamp.

I'll dig up some links in a second for your particular car

MAF: This is my exhaust system

No whining like you're some fart rocket.  No gurgling on downshifting or braking.  No drone at highway speeds.  Cheap and sounds beautiful

http://www.americanmuscle.com/slp-lm-axleback-11gt.html
$439.99

Very little performance advantage without changing the exhaust manifold into headers, but it sounds gorgeous.

Better yet, compare it to the stock exhaust:

Fuzzy dice, no.

The guy I bought my Gen Coupe from had installed a magnaflow catback exhaust.  Sounds good enough to my ears.

Anyone who doesn't know how to drive a manual should be slapped.

Agreed. I haven't driven stick in over 10 years, but a lady at work let me drive her mini cooper to lunch and I still got it. I forgot how much more fun having turbo is.

Though i have to say, having Reverse all the way left and up is the dumbest idea for a transmission. Hard left and up should be 1st!

I drive a clutchless manual with pedals behind the wheel.  Does that count?

There's a stick but it's just for neutral, reverse and drive.  To shift you just tap up and down on the stick.

I have driven for about 3 minutes in my entire life. I dont have a license. I've just relied on walking and public transport my whole life. Very typical of Wellingtonians apparently.

This place is real easy to get around:

My grandfather decided to come up to the bay for some reason. Little did I know he was invited by Lexus to test drive the new Tesla Model S and Model X. So I got invited for the drive this morning.

Jesus electrics are fast as hell. No shifting gears when you hit a certain rpm it just goes like a bat out of hell. They have a test track centered around the Numi plant in Fremont, CA. Its also where they are making the cars. I got to drive all three of their cars and the 3.0 version of their speedster which is OMG fast. On the straight 1/4 we did 10.9 seconds.

Now back to work and dreaming of owning one of those roadsters.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
my grandfather ended up ordering the Model S for 2013 and he offered to help put down the order on the Model X for me and misses for 2014. Were starting a family so family car wins

A used 2002 Toyota Camry LE, from a certified dealer...
- 125,000 mileage.
- 2 previous owners (personal use).
- No crashes or damage reported.

Price: $6800, which according to Kelly's Bluebook is a private owner's price (a certified dealer's price was suggested at $8500). I can probably get a newer american car for cheaper, but I'd really stick to a JP car. The only other cars I was considering were Ford Fusion, and Chevy Impala, but none were inside my range. The prices are much higher than I expected, even from private owners (tax rebate season?).

Anyhow, good deal or not? I'm just looking for something to serve me inside the city and cover my daily 20 minute commute for 2-3 years. I took it for a test drive, and it passed by personal tests (set for a 10 y/o car). Please respond bore.

Are you in St Louis?! DONT YOU SEE THE WATERMARK? Can't beat a Leta! I think you know the answer lol.

I knew several people with that year Camry and never heard a complaint. Haven't been looking too much at cars lately other than newer Civics (4-door :( ) but it'd definitely get you by for a few years. My Civic is a year older and KBB is around $4000 for a private seller, and I have close to $170K miles on it. That Camry's in way better shape than my Civic, cosmetically speaking.

I did, but I just opted to take out the exact address :lol

... Wait a second. CHECK YOUR PM'S!

Anyhow, the car felt nice when I drove it. And before I came here, I gave a friend my car and sold his '98 Camry for $5000. It had the equivalent of 310k miles on it, and a few dents and crashes under its belt. That's why I initially thought this car's price was worth it, considering how pricey Japanese cars are in general, but more specifically in the states. However everyone so far has been giving me the drawn out "ummmmm it looks nice, but it's quite pricey." I mean show me a more attractive offer from a dealer and I'll show you money! None of those fuckers are even helpful when it comes to the search, they just enjoy shooting down suggestions. Bleh.

Eh, it sounds expensive to people who aren't used to buying/selling foreign cars. The resale values are outrageously good. When I bought my car a few years ago, I could've gotten the same year and mileage American car for almost half the price. However, I still drive my car and could continue to with minimal problems if it had 4 doors. That little thing is a beast, and I used to drive 5K miles a month during the winter. If I had bought a different car, it would've died long ago, or if not, I wouldn't be able to sell it for more than $1000.

Check out Autotrader.com and look up 00-04 Camry's in your area. The only ones cheaper have over 150K miles.

Unless you want to buy my beat up Civic. I'll deliver! :lol

Yeah, I've been doing most my search using Autotrader, and this is possibly the best car in a 100 mile radius. As for the Civic, I would totally consider it if I can fit into one. I usually look like I'm driving a kart when I'm behind its wheel lol.

That's one thing, the other is that I wasn't able to find any decent deals in my area. The cheapest car within 200 miles radius is $10k, and I can't afford to make longer trips for a single car that may or may not work for me.
