StarCraft 64 had better features

At least both players didn't have to be on the same screen at all times.

*Ladder system with Seasons

*Clan/Guild system

*Adventure Mode (separate from Campaign mode). Includes features like Loot Run, Devil's Hand and Bounties.

*Nephalem Trials: Series of challenges you can complete efficiently to earn more rewards.

*New Legendary affixes and abilities (huge list can be found in the link provided)

*Gheed's Machine

*A hundred new quests/side quests spanning across all Acts

This is all on top of the stuff already announced for the expansion which includes:

*Loot 2.0 (similar to what is on consoles only with even more and better Legendaries)

*Paragon 2.0 (no cap on Paragon levels, you can allocate Paragon points to different stats and Paragon levels are account wide)

*New Act 5 (as big as Act 2, darker in theme)

*New class Crusader (Strength based Shield class like the Paladin)

*Mystic which can Enchant items to give it a different affix or change the look of the item completely. Mystic also has the ability to Reforge items although it's unknown what it actually does.

Short answer is: if there's any sort of tangible rewards for ladders/rankings, then no.

I think they regret the RMAH at this point and will move away from it when at all possible.

No, you mindlessly hate it, they REGRET it.  There are pretty big differences there.

If ladders and leaderboards are going to have no tangible rewards as far as in game items go and just be a dick measuring contest, then the RMAH will probably be allowed for people in those game modes.  Note that for everything that's been datamined so far, there's been no hint so far of an AH-less "ironborn" mode.  If you're paying to win fucking NOTHING then they'll probably let you do that.

But, point is, the new lead developer has said in a couple of interviews that in retrospect they kind of regret the concept of the RMAH and to a lesser extent the gold AH.  You can see this reflected in the new game features they're rolling out- targeted "smart drops," enchanting, and the stuff they've already rolled out- hellfire rings and the new bound crafting stuff.

If Loot 2.0 delivers, ladders are cool, etc...this is gonna be awesome. I'd welcome off-line play but it isn't a deal breaker to me.

Still excited for Grim Dawn, and I still think PoE is damn good (I'm just waiting for the next Act to be released) but obviously they don't have the money to make the major improvements that are required (de-sync and some slight combat adjustments).

Either way, unless the really good shit does fall like candy, everyone who wants to play a top tier endgame build now will be d2jsp'ing it up, which is an inconvenience in my mind.  If there's not going to be an in game gold auction house, there should be a marketplace/bulletin board type thing.

Is it true the console version drops crazy loot nonstop, and people are reaching max level in record times? Not sure I like that.

I just hope the difficulty expands beyond "don't have x resist? lawl." I prefer difficulty based around avoiding bad things. IE if you get hit by x attack, you die or almost die.

The console version does drop better loot (I'm about lv 30, so not sure about in endgame) and crafted shit is better, which is nice.  Loot drops less frequently over all (but more legendaries, for sure) so that's nice.

The reason that everyone is levelling super fast is that one of the pre-order bonus items for the console version is a helm that gives 25% bonus xp.

I already said my piece in the D3 thread on GAF where a blog post by Blizz laid out their issues with LS and that they want to reward "good play" and "tactical play" more. I don't get what they're going for. Kiting was such a pain when I was playing my WD at launch and it wasn't just because Inferno was more difficult then, but because there is so much shit on the screen. They'd have to change pack sizes again and maybe make it so not every mob on screen gets pulled at once and what you do pull doesn't outrun you, etc.

That said the unique effects on rings look pretty fucking amazing. :leon

If you play on lower MP levels, pack density is greatly reduced.

Of course, it seems like you're going to HAVE to play on lower MP levels now.  Fortunately I've got a pretty adequately geared DH, but STILL.

I spent 100 hours in it, the game isn't bad. It just has no longevity compared to other ARPGs. There really isn't an end game, no ladder, etc. If you like customization you'll probably want to look elsewhere because the game is dominated by the same 2-3 builds for each race.

If you've ever played WoW you'll be familiar with the stats. If you're a Barbarian (warrior) all you do is stack vitality and strength. You can't really build around items or do something out the box. In D2/PoE you can pretty much turn any character class into a summoner for instance. I like that type of freedom.

Pros: Combat is awesome, group play is awesome, Diablo is a nice fight
