So I put in a couple hours after it finished updating for the first time in months. Biggest improvement I noticed was in crafting. I crafted 2 one handed slotted swords and 3 pieces of armor that were pretty good upgrades right off the bat. Increased my DPS by almost 100 and armor by 70 before I fought my first monster. I was a buzzsaw through act 3. I can see myself putting a lot more time into this.

Once a dev shares this kind of thinking with the community you know they are intelectually bankrupt.

Some things should be kept to yourself as a design choice, not communicated to players.

Designing a game with things like this in mind is what made Diablo 3 such a crapfest, everything is done designed around some PHILOSOPHY instead of just making a fucking game.

They must have made the game easier. I whipped through act 3 and 4 on normal last night like a hot knife through butter. Azmodan and Diablo didn't last 30 seconds in my presence. Neither of them dropped one usable items either.  >:( On to nightmare.

I put some bids on some stuff in the AH. I thought there would be an online presence for the AH by now.

One idea that we have discussed is “targeted Legendaries,” where named NPCs have an increased chance of dropping specific legendary items. For example, The Butcher could have an increased chance of dropping The Butcher's Carver.
Another idea is that we introduce a system that will help alleviate some of the bad randomness players encounter by ensuring that at least some of the Rare and Legendary items you find will be something good for your class.
We've also discussed allowing bosses the first time you kill them in each difficulty to have a guaranteed chance to drop a Legendary.

So...basically they're turning loot into WoW raid drops

Maybe. I won't believe it until the game is on shelves with a confirmed offline mode. Not a "you have to ping the servers to check your activation code when you want to launch the game", either.

Yeah, I wouldn't be so sure about offline mode on PS4 yet. The real biter is that the PC players and PS4 players will be separated due to no copying over a character between games. Though I guess PC elitism will prefer it that way.

So. If you want to buy gold, buy radiant emeralds then sell them for gold. After blizzards cut that puts gold at around 11 cents per million. (Radiant Star emeralds were going for 2.55 this morning ) and you can sell them for 28 million.

This aligns with the secondary market a bit.

Radiant Star Emeralds are now the de facto trade item. If you want to sell something in game for more than $250 you can sell for Radiant Stars.

Oh and they move FAST, so alot of people have started doing this since the gold floor isn't moving. My 11 Radiant Stars sold at 2.55 instantly. Price will probably continue to fall until it's inline with the chinese or third party market which is at 7 cents per million I think right now.

The good part is that the RMAH side hasn't realized this and you can still flip certain items for better exchange rates. (Crit mempos, trifecta rings with all resist. Dex, avg dmg, crit, crit dmg rings for TR monks)

I'm addicted to this game again. I'm glad I took a couple months break so things could get sorted out better. It feels fresh and fun again. I've already gone farther than when I stopped last time. Using the AH a lot more. Even installed the game on my work PC just to monitor the AH.

It did make the back of my neck warm when, after 10 hours of game play, the legendary item that finally dropped was unique to a different class.  :maf

Prices ranged up to 2M when I went back and looked, but they were also lvl 60. I set the filter at my current level which is 44 for now. I set the filter for a max 200k buyout and this was only at 90k so ya for me. Now it's time to farm some gold cuz I got my eye on some set pieces asking less than 200k buyout.

Real question, after playing both Diablo 2 and 3, does diablo 3 feel like a sequel to Diablo 2?  To me it feels like a cheap cash in and they chose the quick way to do things.

My reasons for that are as follows:
1.No rune words, this was one of the awesome things about diablo 2 that made it worth playing today, it made craftign abotu finidng secrets and such and sharing with others like finding secrets in Mario 1.  To replace it they added a gambling style crafting system that isnt that great.

2. No skill trees, no weird builds.  This was one of the interesting things about diablo 2.  You never made real decisions when levelling up and i liked the lower level synergy to higher level upgrades.  To replace this they made a system that you can change out of combat any time and you didnt really make choices in the game.  Their reasoning was people went up and looked at build anyway and copied them leaving about 5 real viable options, but they could have still left the skill tree system and allowed respeccing on the fly.

I dont really care too much about other things becasue they are irrelevant to me.  But these 2 things are what makes diable 2 great.  And the reason why i cant give Diablo 3 much of a chance.  They should have called it something else imo.  It really hurt me to see Diablo like this.

I guess it depends why you play these games, but I also thought it was mediocre. I'd put it right next to Torchlight II. In fact, the best western action role-playing game I played last year was Krater and that was also quite flawed.

There are a ton of weird builds possible, the problem is that they mostly suck.

IMO, during endgame the problem is more with the gear than anything else.  By then the only things that matter are main stat, vit, crit chance, crit dmg and attack speed.  Just stack that.

Please keep in mind though that basically everything you named as a positive in D2 didn't exist until LoD, though.

For everyone who likes non-instanced loot and limited respec, play Path of Exile!

Is it?  Or was it the perfect Diablo for it's time?  Are limited respec and non-instanced loot something you'd actually WANT in your hypothetical perfect arpg?

I'm not trying to say D3 is perfect, or even comparatively BETTER than D2:LoD.  I do think it gets unfairly shat upon by the idiot brigade on the intertubes, though.  It's a fine game for where it is, and has been getting consistently better with each patch.  Not that most people have noticed, though.

I think you are missing my point, What i am trying to say is that Diablo 3 is more like a non diablo game with the label and story slapped on.  And FYI you could do complete respecs from the witch in the first chapter of Diablo 2.  In the end it felt more of an action game than an action rpg.

And what do you mean by non instanced loot?  Random loot?  Yeah that sucks imo.  I like loot table and drops off certain enemies, it makes for good trail and error.

By non-instanced loot I'm referring to multi-player loot drops... in D3 everyone gets their own loot, in D2 it was free for all, grab it as fast as you can and fuck everyone else.  Lends itself to assholery.

I guess we just disagree about what makes a Diablo game.  Killing demons, zombies and getting loot makes a Diablo game to me.  I don't mind tabled boss drops but only for general KINDS of loot (rings, etc) if we're talking about specific legendaries or whatever that's dumb IMO.  RNG should be RNG.

One of D3's biggest failings is that for the most part loot doesn't lend itself to "build around me" ideas in the same way D2 did.  Various aspects of itemization are underdeveloped but again... it has been improving.

- You can't leave the same screen as your teammates.

- One person looking at their inventory/char screen pauses the whole game.

- No more private drops for loot, but back to the team-loot/ninja-looting.

- If anyone clicks X to enter a new area, there is no vote and the whole team auto-enters.

That might all be for local co-op, not sure.  Also, I guess playing with Gabe/Tycho is probably worse than playing with 2 randos, but whatevs.
