I like to put stickies on high-value and wait until someone gets all the way to the docks to blow it up

:rofl :rofl  :'(

I love hearing the exasperated "WTF" when the mic opens up.

So I have glitched and insured a tank into my garage. Feels good to have something to fight back with if I ever go back to Bad Sports Hell

Took about 30 minutes for me to do successfully.

I also have the riot truck and a police cruiser. Those were a lot easier to get in

My crew tag is lgbt and I was chased and repeatedly killed while being called a taco.
Good to know PSN isn't much different than Live.  This seems like something that would happen in any online game TBH.  The guys is still a douche, but I think you guys should have seen that coming tagging your crew as lgbt.

Looks like a big PITA to me, but congratulations on an awesome toy!

I'm looking forward to when Pegasus will let me have the things delivered to me.

Yeah, I was going to say something similar. XBL is full of small-minded bigots, fueled by insecurity and anonymity; don't expect good behavior.

On the other hand, it is arguable that putting "LGBT" as your tag is an attempt to elicit a reaction from people who see it. Ideally that reaction is acceptance and solidarity, but it's all-but-impossible that you'll find that by randomly selected bunch of toe heads in Free Mode.

There's a nice apartment for $88K with a six-car garage; bag that and you can start storing cars. When you can store cars, you can build up custom vehicles by type. Racing your own car is a lot of fun.

I kind of wish that I didn't upgrade the beginning weapons so much. I know it wasn't a ton of money, but when the next weapon unlocks with slightly better range, and all the nice, individual, EXPENSIVE accessories (extended mag, silencer, etc.) have to be purchased again... kind of a bummer.

Really enjoyed the game but I knew that I would just continue to jump in and do nothing of worth for months and months so I figured I'd just trade it in towards a new game.  And if I have a desire to play it again, I'll pick it up for cheap in a year or so.

Spent most of today playing.  :-\

Did the submarine missions, looking for pieces of radioactive waste. Turns out, you get paid for doing them as Trevor, but not if you do it as Michael (and I assume Franklin is also not paid). Looking through the inter-webs, it seems previously players could visit those locations once with each character and get money for each time.

Also did the Michael Strangers&Freaks mission where he scuba dives, looking for pieces of a broken submarine. THERE ARE A LOT OF CRASHED PLANES IN THE OCEAN. 30 pieces -- it was enjoyable for the first half, then it became a little tedious, particularly when the airplane-style swimming controls evoke the WORST of Euphoria-style momentum/drifting/lack-of-player-control elements of character management. No cookie for whichever game designer put items within environment structures which give GTA's camera spastic fits. AND THEN THERE IS A SHARK.

Fortunately, sharks don't have technology like "boat engines," so when you use your own "boat engines" to back up into them, they become rather chummy.

I just finished The Moment of Truth, or at least that's the Achievement name. It looks like I've got a couple more heists and the final mission to go. Things got intense with Michael and Trevor. Odd to feel some empathy with T, and less for Michael.

Minor complaint: I just realized that GTA V itself shipped as a completely offline game, that Rockstar has described GTA Online as a separate product, downloaded content after launch, etc.

Though I know they've got to have a plan for extensive DLC for GTA V, just for the sake of clarity and game/reward structure, I really wish the Achievements for GTA V were actually possible with just the base game as it was launched, and that GTA O's Achievements were all classified as DLC.

Yeah, in the past that would have gone against MS's achievement T&Cs? It seems like theres no hard rules around achievements anymore, especially if the game is from a major publisher.

I collected all of the nuclear waste and submarine pieces last night, pretty boring!

I have completed all 69 missions now but still have a lot of content to get through and plenty of collectibles to get. I also only have 20 gold medals, another 50 to go! This game has a frickin crazy amount of content.

I'm confused by what you're trying to say - GTAO is a seperate downloadable product?

All achievements are obtainable with the base game as-is. What achievements require DLC, or an online pass? Or?

I think what they're trying to say is that they wish GTAO and GTAV - which are treated as separate entities by Rockstar - share achievements lists. They both want two separate achievements for both different products.

Yes, it's a separate download, in the same way that free Legends and Killers, as well as Liars and Cheats DLC for Red Dead Redemption was separate and had its own associated Achievements.

GTA Online was not present on the disc at the time it shipped. It wasn't just "not connected" yet, it wasn't a malfunctioning bit of multiplayer gameplay which needed a patch, it is a large, separate piece of content which was downloaded separately; thus, "DLC." In any other case, Achievements would have been attached to that DLC instead of the base game.

Himu's also correct, that Rockstar itself has referred to GTAO as a separate game.

I'd been off for a couple days, but got in for a bit last night. Couple interesting things happened:

Immediately, Simeone's list of desired cars came to my phone, so I went to my garage and got in one of the matching vehicles -- turns out Simeone won't buy Personal Cars.

An armored car appeared on the map, right next to my location. Every other time, it had been far away, and surrounded by other Players. I thought, This is my chance!  When I'd 'jacked one in Story Mode, I just walked up and opened the door, like 'jacking any other car. I tried that, but the door was locked; the drivers panicked and drove off. I ended up chasing that car from Los Santos to North Blaine County, I blew off the doors with Stickies en route but nothing fell out. Tried shooting through the window, couldn't seem to score a hit. Finally I forced it off the road and into an indestructible road sign. I stepped out of my car to FINALLY CLAIM MY PRIZE, and the damned thing vanished right before my goddamned eyes. POOF.

It was seriously about 15 minutes of driving and shooting and throwing bombs, only to result in NUFFINK.

(It was fun.)

MP3 is a total blast. I really enjoyed the multiplayer.

HOWEVER, IN GTA NEWS:
http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/51796/gta-online-free-beach-bum-update-hits-next-week-new-weapons-vehi.html

Quote
GTA Online Free Beach Bum Update Hits Next Week: New Weapons, Vehicles, Jobs and More
The Beach Bum update will bring a slew of new action-packed Jobs to GTA Online next week. These include new beach-themed Races, Deathmatches, Parachutes, Last Team Standings, Survivals as well as Gang Attacks for those who enjoy a good territorial skirmish.

Better not kick sand in the wrong face. Beach blankets may run red by the time the sun sets on Vespucci.

Here are just a few of our favorite new ones that are on the way:

"Grass Route II" (Race): In this sequel to the original popular Grass Route Race, go off-road in an epic heat starting on the North bank of the Zancudo River through the treacherous wetlands with a triumphant finish on the beach in North Chumash.

"Survival on Del Perro Pier" (Survival): Skip the ferris wheel for a deadlier kind of thrill ride as you take on waves of relentless enemies at this beachfront attraction.

"View of Vespucci" (Parachuting): This leap sends you from 2,980 feet, down towards Vespucci Beach, weaving through palm trees to land on the basketball courts of the rec center. If you've got skills, it's possible to freefall through the first few checkpoints before even opening your chute.

"Paleto Beach" (Team Deathmatch): The locals complain that not a lot happens in this sleepy town, so do them a favor and wake 'em up with a barrage of gunfire exchanged between you and a rival team. This Team Deathmatch takes place right on the romantic shoreline for 4-8 players.

"Sundae Driving" (Bike Race): Sure to be a new fan-favorite motorbike race, menace Vespucci Beach on your two-wheel rocket, taking breakneck corners as you try and best the competition.
Expect these and lots more Jobs to be added to Grand Theft Auto Online next week.

Speaking of sleeping, I finished the Waste Collection missions in the submarine, and I think I literally fell asleep for a few moments. The damned game won't even let me change the radio station in the sub; it's white noise and the ping from the tracking app. So drowsy-making.

Very happy to be done with that. I want to nail a game designer's dick to a door, and then slam it. WHO THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE FUN? DO THEY HATE GTA?

I'm trying not to leave any character-specific side-tasks around; I'm worried about getting my 100%.

GTAO has crashed on me four times today. They should rename it GTFO.

I've had the endless "loading" screen in the sky, I crashed to an utter black screen while surfing channels in my apartment, crashed on an "Instant Restart" after a failed Mission, and one more I can't exactly remember. Sad!

Did you know you can use your apartment TV to scope security cameras around your building, or toggle through each of the other Players' locations in Free Mode? You can also tune in to Weasel News if anyone Wanted, and it will present it as footage with the Weasel overlays, as well as post your gamer tag and any Crew affiliations. Pretty darned cool. I had no idea this was even in there!

I'm going to see if it treats me any better now.

:lol

That is pretty cool. I am going to try that.

Today there were a couple of rascals on the Free Mode open chat, basically griefing everyone they could. Two guys in a one-on-one Deathmatch? "Let's go fuck with those guys. You take one, I'll take the other." They singled out me for a bit, and I did OK when it was one-to-one, but when they both got in the same area, I wasn't able to keep up. It was fun, but I don't get the joy of killing in Free Mode at all. Why not play in Deathmatch, and get paid for each kill, instead of losing money every time you die?

Another thing: I keep thinking all my RDR time in multiplayer is going to pay off in GTAO, but it doesn't translate AND there are about a bazillion places to play. RDR started with a handful of maps, and expanded. GTAO is a wealth of maps from the outset, and I keep finding myself in areas I haven't even visited previously, much less am I familiar with them.

I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of Concrete, and maybe the cargo ship, but I had my ass handed to me on a plate today in the O'Neill Farm map. There was also the commune, which seems like sniper/camper heaven, sadly. And it feels like I just suck suck suck at this, when I'm in a map where people know the territory.

Interesting new griefing technique: When your grief-target is in a store, move your car to block the door. From inside a store, the phone's Quick Join feature is disabled, the larger Map function (and its ability to start an Activity from the map with X Button /□ Button) is replaced by the local interior map.

Anyway, had several dickheads chasing me around for a bit. I don't get the "fun" of having a group of several of your friends hunting down a single player and killing them repeatedly. Then again, I don't go in for killing people in Free Mode normally, unless there's a Bounty. I'd rather just kill people in Deathmatch modes, and actually get paid for it.

Edit: not "briefing," autocorrect.

I like that all the Beach Bum stuff is free. Cars: free. New weapons: free.

This weekend is the inaugural Rockstar Multiplayer Event. There are apparently playlists and stuff to run through. I captured one of the special event Crate drops in Free Mode, and it turned out to be Reputation Points and some Molotovs. :shrug

What bug is it that got you? I have read that Dom doesn't show up for the last event until you've cleared all the other activities, including all the parachute drops.

I was on-site for two more incoming crates which didn't arrive over the course of 10 minutes. I think something was broken. Even had an interesting one RIGHT NEXT to a Gang Hideout, and there was an onscreen message which said, "Clear out the Gang Attack first, then look around for the crate."

Unfortunately, it was just a prioritization message, as I cleared out the Gang Attack and the crate still didn't arrive. Not only that, but there are usually crates scattered around Gang Attacks, but none were present for this one -- it was up near where Trevor lives, and only 15 enemies, so maybe it's low-level and not rewarding.

Also didn't end up seeing any more of the gold-colored "Incoming Crate" messages we saw earlier.

I could not seem to get into the actual Beach Party Playlist, even though I got the Y-Button prompt from the initial loading screen, and went looking for it on the Online > Playlists > Rockstar > {insert "Vespucci Beach Party" here}.

You were right about Dom! I cleared all the parachute jumps and he shows up right away. His final mission was pretty damn funny.

I collected all the spaceship pieces (the last one was a BITCH, involves the most difficult parachute jump in the game I've seen). You get a pretty sweet Spacecar Roadster thing, which I am enjoying driving around.

Glad to hear it! Happy you'll not need to re-do your entire game for 100% completion!

I think I am at the last single-player mission, but can't be sure. Franklin has been given a big choice to make, and I chose what felt like made sense for him. Now I want to try and do all the character-specific things, make sure I'm not screwed out of activities which I can't complete without a specific character.

This game is really amazing. I don't want the single-player to end, but at the same time the GTA Online is going a long way to fill similar desires.

Sceneman, I have decided to finish RDR to 100% -- can you help me out with the last Poker and 10X Multiplier in Adv. Co-Op 'cheevos?

I like how you can fail the stunt jumps unless you do them PERFECTLY now. Like, 60 hours clocked and I haven't passed a single one.

the main part is making sure all wheels hit the ground at the same time. Much easier with motorcycles, really satisfying to nail them!

Probably easiest with the Sanchez dirt bike.

Also, there is an exploit which works in online races, if you do the same jump it counted toward your 50 jumps made, no matter how many times you've made it. So you can do a race which has a jump in it, even do it solo, and keep doing the one jump over and over.

It may have been patched, I dunno. I'm just going to do them normally.

Yeah, I mean wheres the fun in grinding? You need at least 25 jumps for one of the miscellaneous ticks for single player 100% anyhow, so theres every reason to do it legit. I'm sure theres some really fun jumps out there too.

Franklin lost ALL his guns again.

Jesus, seriously?

It seems to happen if the Cloud Storage goes out of sync and the game starts with the intro mission in Poughkeepsie or in whatever frozen countryside that bank is supposed to be.

When I next play GTA Online and then use the menu to "Leave GTA Online," it seems like that's when it occurs. It's a bad feeling to go into an Ammu-Nation and see that all the guns have to be re-purchased. It's a worse feeling to be mid-mission, only to bring up your weapon selection wheel to see only FIST is selectable.

what a glitch! Thankfully I haven't experienced that one. I did however spend 700,000 in single player buying and tricking out a Cheetah, parked it in Michael's garage, went to bed, checked the garage - car gone. Yeah, wtf.

This also happened earlier in the game, I drove a supercar (that I had saved in my house garage) to a mission. The mission asked me to drive a truck to a destination, sure. Completed the mission, car is gone. Whats the point of blowing so much cash on cars and spending time customising them, when they just disappear so easily?

Anyhow, 30 stunt jumps down, 20 to go.

I checked it out a little last night; I'm more sure that it is related to when the game defaults to using the opening mission.

The topmost save file in that case is "(Auto Save) Ludendorff, North Yankton" with a date matching the last time it defaulted to that mission. So it is loading that file, in which Franklin is not yet even available, so he's got zeroed out weapons associated with his character. It also explains why it was starting with Michael, even though I'd finished my previous session with Franklin.

What I can't figure out is why it loads data for my current location in the game, cars, etc. but gets the character data all wrong. The Auto Save point must be a subset of the overall game data, and mixing its subset with the larger data in a full game file is what causes this error?

Anyway, if you encounter this bug, use the Game Menu to load the next-most-recent save file data.

Finished the single player Story and loved it, but am now getting the bug where it is impossible to use "Internet" on the cell phone -- a bug which also subsequently takes out the onscreen UI, so no minimap, etc. :mac

Rockstar thought they'd had it patched, but it is back; they know it, they're working on it according to their support site. The problem is with the save data file format, and if I start a fresh game, it won't occur. Here at 90% completion, I'm not really excited about replaying everything. Especially the submarine missions and scuba diving missions. BLECH.

I think they got too ambitious with all their online save syncing companion app bullshit. Sorry to hear about the bug, hopefully you're not 100% screwed  :(

I'm going to re-load a save data I'd made just prior to the final mission.

Even if that doesn't work, I should still be able to do most everything else. I don't need the bank in single-player, anyway; I'm only really worried about buying a vehicle and one or two other 100%-related activities.
