OK, I've done as much QA as I'm going to do today; the corruption appears to be related to the final mission. The Internet can be used from the phone in the save immediately prior to accepting the Franklin mission which starts at his house.

I'd read from one user that starting a new game, reaching the first save point, then re-loading a quick save would fix it, but that didn't work.

I guess I'll go around and mop up all the character-specific stuff first and look at which ones I can get.

I'm wondering if this bug has anything to do with that other bug I've had, where Franklin loses his weapons. That one has to do with a discrepancy between starting with Franklin from standard game save data, where his state has been saved with zero weapons from the Auto-Save Data. I bet it's related. In which case, I'd have to go back pretty far to get a non-corrupt file. :mac

did all Stunt Jumps, Under the Bridge, and Knife Flights yesterday, then completed a "Booty Call" to unlock the "Career Criminal" achievement. It's odd that you dont have to everything in the game for 100%, but whatever.

Now I need to:

- Finish the last couple of Epsilon missions
- Spend millions on the stock market and sell it back until I spend $200 million
- Grind out 45 or so gold medals

And I'll be 100% done with the single player achievements. TBH I might take a break and play something else for awhile.

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/GTA-5-XML-Code-Points-Exclusive-PC-Feature-PC-Was-Lead-Platform-59220.html

Quote
As if there was any doubt left, new dumped data in the form of an XML from the console version of Grand Theft Auto V has revealed that there are some extra features in store for PC gamers, as some of the content left on the cutting room floor for current-gen consoles will be making an appearance in the PC version. This follows closely on the heels of the info that was found in the GTA V iFruit companion app.

Again, full disclosure: We've just come off a weekend facing a very serious legal threat from the legal company representing Rockstar, so I've been told by the publisher of Cinema Blend LLC and the managing editors not to post photos of any of the code from GTA V; I'm not allowed to link directly to any images, take snap shots of the code, reprint the code, display code or host any of the proprietary GTA V assets on Cinema Blend or Cinema Blend's servers that may incite a legal threat. All right, let's move on.

...

All right, so now it's time to explain this stuff for people who aren't familiar with any sort of scripting language. One of the images Lien links to comes from the common folder from the data dump of the Xbox 360 rendition of GTA V. To put it simply, the code was dumped from a program on PC while the game was running on the Xbox 360. The data present in one image of the weather xml file is most interesting, because it points to something not quite present in the current-gen console version of GTA V... a weather condition that was missing from the listed weather features of the game: a blizzard.

Who uses a JPG to show text? Something which doesn't rely on smooth pixel-to-pixel changes, like PNG, would be better.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/441958/gta-v-story-dlc-inbound-in-2014-says-rockstar/
Quote
Grand Theft Auto 5 players will be treated to "substantial" single-player story expansions in 2014.

Rockstar teased major plans for new content in a recent DLC-focused announcement. "For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas," it said.

This came along with an update to confirm that co-operative Heists for GTA Online were in development for release next year.

"Heists are currently in development and we are working very hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for much more detail in the New Year," said Rockstar.

The firm will this week launch the Deathmatch & Race Creators Beta for GTA Online, letting players create their own missions in the online portion of the game.

Players will be able to share their creations with others, and the best creations will be highlighted in a selection of 'Rockstar Verified Jobs'.

The beta is "expected" to go live tomorrow, December 10.

A video showing off seemingly leaked content from Grand Theft Auto Online content creator emerged online last week.

December will also see the release of a new competitive team mode, Capture. As Rockstar explains, "A proper GTA twist on classic capture the flag, Capture mode brings territory infiltration and a new form of team-versus-team treachery into GTA Online. Up to four squads battle to steal contraband, trucks, buses or whatever from opponents' bases using high-speed vehicles, explosive weaponry and cunning teamwork.

"Capture is broken down into four variations - 'Raid', 'Contend', 'Hold' and 'GTA'". More details for each are promised soon.

Game just updated with this.

All sounds promising. Surprised that we're getting an expansion for GTAV, but maybe after getting 1b in less than a week, Rockstar doesn't give a fuck. Good for us at least. After GTAV, Rockstar deserves to make something less commercially viable. Looking forward to the new Bully.

Content Creator Beta means every joe-bob in the goddamned world now thinks making a Deathmatch with starting-only-with-pistols was exactly what GTAO was missing. Or starting with no weapons, and having a giant fistfight is fun. Or starting with Lazer jets taking off from the horserace track, but no enemies on radar, and an hour-long deathmatch is going to be fun.

I'd say that it's turned the phone's "Join Deathmatch" into a complete crapshoot, but only if the dice have 1s on all the faces.

It was a crappy, rainy day in Osaka today, but in Los Santos, it was crazy clear and sunny. No shortage of bullets flying around though.

Also had the unfortunate luck to play tag with a dude who knew the map better than I did and had a rocket launcher. Still a lot of fun.

Managed to complete the Bounty Hunter Award, which is for either 20 or 25 Bounties claimed. Man, I love hunting Bounties. Apparently I like it better than exporting cars, because I've still got one more car to go before getting the Platinum Award for that.

Well, you've been eating up the Story Mode stuff, and I can't do that until I work out how to deal with that Internet-Access bug. It's kind of pissing me off, actually. It seems like new Save Data has got it worked out, but because mine's old, I'd have to restart the whole game. Maybe I should just wrap up what I can and save it for a second play through?

Speaking of getting Awards, I've tried a mess of things to get four rotations during a jump; no luck so far. I found a Cargobob somewhere on the map, but can't remember exactly where. I've now seen helicopters spawn at:

  • Los Santos Airport
  • Trevor's air strip
  • The roof of the medical center near Vanilla Unicorn
  • The roof of the LSPD near Vespucci Beach
  • The helipads just east of Vespucci, bordering the boat harbor

The types of helicopter seem to vary; the Cargobob was at the last spot. I've also picked up the machine-gun-equipped police chopper at the hospital, for whatever reason. I got all excited when I found a Buzzard at the LSPD, but it didn't have any weapons on it.  :'(

Yeah I've tried a few non-cargobob techniques from Youtube in order to get the flip/spin awards, to no avail. Lets try the cargobob trick next time we play!

Had a very funny free roam session last night. A guy with a bounty on his head decided to run to the airport and zoom around in a mallard stunt plane. I went to the airport to claim the bounty and he was circling around, I parked on the runway and was trying to snipe him (to no avail). He was aware of what I was doing and repeatedly made low passes over me, trying to take my head off. I grabbed a plane and took to the skies myself, spent like 15 minutes dancing above the airport, trying to slam into him :lol

He was still circling above me after I got bored and drove out to Blaine County, I really should have jacked a Lazer Jet and taken him down, but he was probably going for the achievement, so I wasnt going to piss on him

Was a wonderful moment of realsiation of just how fun it is to straight mess around with other players in GTA online. What an amazing game!

Yeah, I've been having a good time messing about in Free Mode as well.

I really like taking Bounties. I'm so happy that the game has citizens assign bounties for 'jacked cars. Some people are really good at evasion, make it a really thrilling hunt. Some of them get on the game's chat channel and start taunting people as well. My favorite weapon for chasing is the Remote Charge C4. If the dude is in a car, racing all over, just holding LB until the reticle is on his car, and then that's all she wrote. Once it's on there, you can take a moment to enjoy the view. Give them space. I liked the AP Pistol for a while, but there is a lot to be said for turning them and their car into an oversized ashtray.

Today the special green High Value Export car for Simeon was grabbed, so I went and waited by the docks for the player to show up. I'm watching him come down, and when he's near, I call Lester to go Under the Radar for a minute, so I'm not visible to anyone on the map. I've also left a car right near the entrance, which will let the guy know something's amiss, but also prevent him from going straight into the garage. Unfortunately he's got another competitor RIGHT on his tail, and the HVE zooms right past the garage while he rethinks what to do next. The other guy in pursuit decides to block the garage, so I blow my rigged car, taking the competition out. The HVE comes back around the corner, and I take out the driver just as he's pulling up to the garage door.

With all of us respawning, and the cops showing up with three or four cars, the whole thing turns into this massive firefight; just as I have the upper hand, I try to pull into the garage, but Simeon won't take it while the police are pissed. I managed to get out of there and all the way back down to the Pay-N-Spray, where the firefight continued.

A couple more jokers managed to steal the car and get it back to the docks, but were still fighting there. I barely, barely squeezed in and managed to get the car dropped off.

Good god, I was squeaking like a doge's chew toy. Such epic. Butt cheeks. So clenching.

So people have been able to hack the game now, giving themselves billions of dollars. They go around and drop a million dollars or more on bounties. Some drop negative bounties; bounties that bankrupt you. So far, I haven't encountered those yet; the hackers seem to be benevolent for now. I was just in two different lobbies where hackers were gifting money. One guy gave 400 million each to everyone on the server.

Yeah, we were in Free Mode, and we start seeing crazy $2B bounties being dropped left and right. At first I thought it was a high-level Bounty ability, as the player who posted it was Lvl. 216, but then that player did it again, and I thought, MAN, no-one has THAT much money to throw around.

Scenester and I were trying to use the Cargobob to drop each other's car from the stratosphere (long story), and someone posted a $2B Bounty on me. I landed somewhere discreet, Sceneman killed me ded, and now we're both Villainaires™.

http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201142806-Clarification-about-being-banned-for-gifting-receiving-modded-money
Quote
Question: I heard Rockstar Games was banning players who received large amounts of GTA$ from modders. Is this true?

Answer: To keep the gameplay environment as fair as possible for legitimate players, we routinely do sweeps to separate out cheaters and modders, and to reverse any illegitimate transactions.  These sweeps are based on in-game automated detection, examination of suspicious gameplay statistics, and also manually-reviewed evidence submitted by the Community.  If you were not engaged in any willful cheating or exploiting yourself, you do not need to worry about getting caught up in our work to separate out cheaters from the rest of the population.

I suspect that Sceneman and I may have very short-term windfalls. There's only so much I can spend money on right now, and I spent just about all of that, and still have nearly a billion left. :lol

Whatever, it's play money, and if I have to earn it all back again, it just means I can play more.

I still have a billion bucks in my account, hopefully R* dont nuke my hardware collection when (if) they reset my bank balance. I've grown rather attached to my tricked out Infernus.

New "holiday gift" turns San Andreas into a snow-covered landscape which, to be honest, looks like complete crap. There are bonus items which are pretty neat, but it seems they may turn them off by January 5th, or hopefully that's when the snow goes away.

In regards to reports of hacking and cheating in Grand Theft Auto Online, we are working on a fix that will remove any GTA$ gained through these blatant exploits, as well as prevent this from happening in the future. We'll also be taking appropriate measures very soon to punish anyone that we've discovered manipulating GTA Online in this manner (as we've stated previously, players who have received large sums of GTA$ but not engaged in any game manipulating through exploits can rest assured knowing they have nothing to fear).

If you have been gifted a large sum of money or collected a large bounty and would like to have the money removed from your account immediately, you can submit a request to Rockstar Support to have your balance properly adjusted. Otherwise, the money you've been gifted will be removed once our upcoming fix is in place.

Furthermore, if you encounter someone that is taking advantage of exploits in your GTA Online session, you can alert us directly by using the in-game reporting functionality. In the Pause menu, under the Online tab, select Players and scroll to the offending player. From there, select Report and choose Exploits from the violation options. I think it's a good thing they're removing the hacked cash. I understand that a lot of players want complete freedom in the online sandbox, so they can just fuck around and do what they want. But not me.

Personally, I like the economy in GTA Online. Whats the point of looking out for Simeon's cars, or robbing trucks, or doing jobs, if you aren't gradually stacking your cash to buy something you have your eye on? It's a major gameplay hook for me, and my interest in GTA Online immediately waned once I had a bottomless bank account.

The fact that R* is offering microtransactions is pretty shit though.

I want a gun that fires mountain lions like The Far Side's old "Dobie-o-matic."

Badass cop chase/race designed to feel a bit like the old Spy Hunter game (note: not a roll-in to the truck trailers, though GTA V story does have that...)

Yeah, I want to try it as well, but there is so much FUBAR crap already out there, I don't even want to waste time promoting my stuff to have people play it.

I haven't been on GTAV in a week. I'll be on in about 5 hours though, and am jonesing for fresh thrills.

GTA Online was plagued by Rockstar Cloud Servers being down during the whole hour I was playing today. One friend was unable to join due to it, after playing a Job where his mini-map was not functioning, nor was his normal menu, at all. Superfail. So he quits out, and then can't get back online due to the servers not being able to give him his most recent save data. Hope this gets cleared up before the weekend, man, what a mess.

http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200618528-Grand-Theft-Auto-V-1-09-Patch-Notes-or-what-it-should-be-

Quote
Grand Theft Auto V 1.09 Patch Notes (or what it should be)
Here is what 1.09 SHOULD include...
Players now have the option to accept or decline money.
Players searching for missions by choosing "Quick Job > X type of job," will be placed in X type of job. For example, if Billy Bob searches for a "mission," he will be placed in a co-op mission, not a capture, TDM, or versus mission.
Improved matchmaking for 'capture' gamemodes when a player searches for a 'capture' match in "quick job."
Player's blip will turn red on the free roam radar when they have a bounty
Players can choose whether to join a Bad Sport lobby or the current lobbies. If the player destroys other players' personal vehicles in the bad sport lobby, they are protected from points being added to their bad sport record. Players who voluntarily enter bad sport lobbies can leave bad sport lobbies for normal lobbies when they feel like it.
Players who CHOOSE to go to a bad sport lobby will NOT have to wear the dunce cap. Players can join their friend who is a bad sport in a bad sport lobby.
Decrease the amount of points needed for bad sports, meaning we lower the hypothetical limit from lets say 10 cars to 5 cars. (Remember, if you feel like going on a rampage destroying cars, you can CHOOSE to go to bad sports lobby and return once you get the rage out of your system.)
Players in Bad Sport lobbies who were INVOLUNTARILY PLACED in the lobby can NOT choose their lobbies, they will have to stay in Bad Sports until their time is up.
The Bad Sport lobby is renamed to "Anarchy" lobby.
Tanks have less protection from players purposely trying to send them to bad sports. (the tanks now have a choice to go to a bad sport lobby and go on their griefpage.)
The minigun only loses 10% of the maximum possible ammo count instead of all ammo if the player dies while using the gun.
Players can choose to make their mechanic 'happier' by paying him extra in daily mechanic fees. In return, he will be more likely to deliver your car to you and he will not mind as much if you keep calling him to bring your cars to you.
Players can only use the "Reveal Players" function once every 5 minutes.
"Reveal Players" time is decreased by 50% of the default.
Players can now call Lester to be immune from "Reveal Players," for a 'small fee' of course.

Basically, anti-cheating and anti-money-problems, but I've noticed people using the bolded stuff during Deathmatch sessions, which is pretty cool.

So, Thursday (Japan time) GTA O was down for most of the day, and by Friday the patch was up. Every loading screen talks about "Taking Aim at Cheaters!" now, so I guess the problem was pretty widespread.

With my $2,000,000,000 I am happy to be playing again. Breaking the economy had an odd effect on my motivation to play. I don't recall ever worrying about money in RDR, though there must have been something in place -- I can't even recall having money there.

I don't regret upgrading the hell out of my weapons and cars though. Also still enjoying the luxury apartment.
