Xenonauts (it's a X-Com clone) is ready for the final beta. It seems pretty promising. Hopefully they'll get it finished soon.

Nope.  Which is fine by me.  I can be patient... I'll hopefully be playing plenty of alpha and beta of it in the nearish future.

I am cautiously highly optimistic about this game, if that makes any sense at all.  I trust them to do it right.

Found this recent update from them. Alpha is coming "soon" but they've had a bit of a delay
http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6033

Should be fun. I doubt I'll get burnt out on arpgs; I plan on playing PoE for a long time but am pretty good at taking breaks when I need to. I'll do the same with Grim Dawn

Don't know and don't care.  I can't see how any mods would feasibly make it better than D3 or even PoE, so it's just not worth my time.

Also, I hate looking at it.  Game is buttfuckingly ugly.

I couldn't get past the graphics either.

I love how PoE looks, and I actually do like how D3 looks as well. IMO D3's art style/graphic don't really look cartoony, I never got that criticism. Does anyone think the Chamber of Sin looks cartoony, what about The Butcher? All that stuff looked pretty dark, just not as dark as D2 or PoE look.

really surprised Code Hero actually had some kind of release. The kid took 170k and didn't post any updates for 7 months. I'm still calling bullshit on the whole project. "MMO version of the game if we hit 200k!" Apparently all the cash is gone and he is now working on the game as "volunteer"

Wildman wasn't getting funded at its current pace, but it would be nice if GPG was collaborating on that.

I hadn't realized this before, but Star Citizen [space sim from Chris Roberts, the creator of Wing Commander] has raised over $8 million. $2.1 million came from Kickstarter, while another $6 million was contributed through their own website. Mind-blowing stuff there.

Looks like they were purchased by WarGaming.net, so it seems unlikely, unless they're also going to purchase Uber.  :-\

First gameplay video from Brian Mitsoda's Dead State:

Look okay so far, a little...well...cheap but certainly not bad. It does need some tweaks here and there, like some sort of fog of war [having things just pop-in looks bad], some better animations, and just some overall polish would really do wonders here.

Actually, yeah, about those tattoos. Does anybody know what they say? I'm always curious when I see text tattoos.

Both Battle World: Kronos and Telepath Tactics did well on kickstarter. Good tactics games for PC ahead.

Skullgirls final 4 characters for the first new one are in:   all waifus  :-\    No science shark, no time travel guy, no grappling nazi robot, and no dude who hits people with a chair.    >:(

instead we've got loli, tsundere, goddess, and cutesy-dark girl with eyepatch.   grrrrrreat.

now ravidrath is proposing a possible cancellation of the second char vote in the gaf thread.   and people are charging back on their donations b/c of the final four, which is super fucked up.  hope this doesn't turn into a bad mess.

Everything about crowd-sourcing is great...except the "crowd" part.

Is this another one of those communication problems or are people just being assholes?

Is this another one of those communication problems or are people just being assholes?

-Skullgirls team introduced a broad array of potential new characters
-A poll was set up to decide which four make it into the game
-Factions formed around each character
-People get mad when their favorites didn't make it
-The usual stuff from then on

They do have some communication issues.  the system was explained at the beginning but they really needed a huge "DON'T WORRY, THERE'S STILL ANOTHER CHAR TO VOTE ON" reminder in every email.

not that it matters, one of the 3 that survive will win because we can't compete with anime dudes united for a cause on the internet.  there's just too many of them and they care enough to campaign about this stuff in forums.

truth be told, Lab Zero will get rich off this crowd, though.

I'd believe that if I could, but according to the numbers posted by their producer, it's all cost-specific, per-character, and it's not making them money directly. It's providing money to pay salaries while they do this extra work, but it's not going into Ferrari bonuses, trophy wives, or even team dinners... because they're a distributed/satellite based dev team, AFAIR.

Yes but

The finished characters will be available as paid DLC, right? So they can make a high margin off of any sales to non-KS backers, since the dev costs have been paid by the KS. Neither you or I know how much, if any, gravy that will amount to but the interest seems way higher than they expected at first so who knows
