I was playing Ninja Gaiden Black the other day (best action gameplay ever, for my money), and damn if Rachel wasn't completely ridiculous. On the one hand you have Ryu Hyabusa, the badass ninja, clad from head to toe in black, and on the other hand you have this chick in BDSM lingerie with D cup boobage spilling out, and she's supposed to be a serious demon slayer.

That's the kind of shit that just kills immersion for me. Not that Ninja Gaiden is good at it to begin with but you know what I'm talking about.

I don't think you have to go through what people go through to identify with a character. If the character is written well (lol vidya but keep with me) then no matter what situations they are in, no matter how fantastical or out of reach for you to experience, you can sympathize with their plight and decisions. I'm never going to be Tony Soprano but god damnit if David Chase didn't write a character I felt compelled to watch every Sunday.

See I never got this at all, to me it's always been Mafia/Yakuza/Triads and such being the cool kids and black people being the brainless thugs. There hasn't really been a black guy in movies that's made me say "shit i wanna be that guy" ever, so every-time I'm playing with a black guy or in a hood setting I'm typically not happy as I am invariably comparing my said black avatar to the previous non good portrayals.

Ganstas has never been cool here, or at least in my circles, so making me play as one isnt going to happen.
