OK, but is that actually true? I'm as intellectually lazy on the topic as most people, in that I haven't read papers on the subject (or a meta-analysis ideally), but I'm not sure that porn actually has the same effect on all of us. It could make them want it even more or it could calm their urges. Intuitively, either sounds possible to me.

If it went 50/50 there would definitely need to be some counseling to determine which it is. But many don't get counseling. I'd be willing to concede some kind of consumption of materials if it was under some kind of therapeutic supervision. I definitely think that making this stuff for profit is fucked up any which way you slice it though.

Anyone remeber Easypic? Just a hub for preview clips and pictures, but it was my go-to before I got broadband. Then Empornium and Cheggit (?).

Kazaa and the like were a minefield. I think there was an option to bias the download so that it would prioritize the first few seconds which I imagine only existed because of porn. VLC was a godsend back then, because it plays partially downloaded files, so you could at least verify if "xxxpornpussyanalasianblowjob(1).avi" was actually porn and not some gore video.

Honestly, if RE4 wasn't on the Gamecube, I'd probably never given it the time of day. Even with 0 and the REmake on it. Just not worth the investment. RE4 alone saved that system in being bought by me and made Nintendo relevant.

(The MGS remake was shit and I kinda expected that since Silicon Knights. The only good thing I'll say is the graphic improvement was worth it. But the MGS2 gameplay and cutscenes? No sir.)

As for the DS: I bought that on a whim when it was like... $150 at Target one Black Friday. Outside of the second screen being mostly pointless it at least had third party support and titles to at least make it interesting. Trauma Center: Under the Knife 1-2 , Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series Pokemon: Gold-Silver Remake I'll even throw in the chibi Final Fantasy 1, 3 remakes despite 3 being REALLY FUCKING TERRIBLE to play now a days.

Oh and FFXII-2, which I still haven't completed due to it being a RTS...

Oh and Front Mission 1st finally coming to the West.

So many titles on that system. Nintendo somehow struck gold in that handheld era.
