Even though many countries (for example in Europe) have AOCs of 14 or 15, that is accompanied by sub-clauses either about the age of the partner, their role in the world (specifically those who would have some kind of power, so as a teacher) or the ability of the consentee to genuinely understand what they were getting themselves into.

Spain has recently voted to raise its AOC to 16, and there are similar discussions happening in other EU countries. OF course, the ubiquity of long-term sex education in many European countries means that the context of a 14 year old in Europe vs the US (for example) making that decision is very, very different.

Serious question: when did neogaf start to have such a huge loli contingent and fanbase? A few years ago when I lurked, there was a poster who'd make loli anime rpg threads and people would ridicule him. He would be the only poster to make those type of threads and posts, but now it seems there's an entire fanbase of the stuff on gaf, and jrpg-gaf in particular is swamped by a bunch of people who like loli rpgs.

Why the shift?

Creepiness allowed to fester in animegaf for years just now being addressed. Not a coincidence there is an overlap between that thread and this one.

Same with EO's character portraits. Yet the same sort of headache inducing "how could you play this?" stuff got into threads. I see something that looks only partially human, for starters (note the ears). Secondly, anime characters in general just look young to me, even if it's obvious through plot elements that they are much older. So perhaps I've just been conditioned to not associate an age with anime characters, unless that character's age is specifically called out through the story. For example, if I saw this character walk into a 5th grade class room and attend class, and then that same character was used in one of the images depicted in the images of this game that has been going around, I would indeed be disgusted. As it stands, I just see, for lack of a better term, an "ageless something".
