You also have to live in one of these countries, too

They're probably only allowing the IP ranges from those selected countries to authenticate games.

Manufacturing problems + very few preorder allocations point to them having issues.

Still probably gonna sell "okay" here in the US, I was listening to the radio yesterday and during the newsbumps Xbone One and Smartglass got mentioned a bunch of times, no mention of always online or DRM, and not a single PS4 mention  :-\

All I work with are other nerds, so E3 has been a hot office topic.  Nobody wants an Xbone because of the DRM.   Well, the console players anyway.  This place is mostly PC gamers who laugh at the console filth.

It's been mentioned by a lot of people in a lot of different venues.  It was featured prominently in the WSJ, which is the biggest newspaper in the country. It's going to be the story going into launch.  Just wait until it gets closer and every single news organization pulls out their claws and rehashes this point.

yeah, some people don't care about these problems, and others aren't informed or don't understand the implications.  If you're strictly follows Microsoft's message, it doesn't sound all that bad, and there's sure to be a media blitz in the coming months.  And Titanfall looks incredible and it will be advertised as an exclusive.

Honestly, I want it to sell 'OK'.  Third parties might need more than just PC and PS4.  Sort of similar to I'm happy about indies on PS4, even though I'll play these games on PC.  And competition in the console space is nice; Nintendo certainly isn't capable of that.

Imagine the egg on some peoples' faces if the One turns out to be more powerful than the PS4, even without the cloud computing benefits.

Just consider that there might be a good reason MS is playing their cards close to the vest on this one. Still a ways until launch and best to drop the big news closer in time.

Perhaps the most worrying statement to be found in the Xbox One disclaimer, surrounds consumer rights after the mandatory Terms Of Use has been signed upon switching on your new console.

"You must accept Xbox Terms of Use (including Xbox software terms and game license terms), Microsoft Services Agreement, and Xbox One 1-year limited warranty. Some games have additional license terms."

"Terms include binding arbitration with class action waiver to resolve disputes."

While it is likely to only be a defensive maneuver on the part of Microsoft, it does mean that you are restricted from taking out a class action lawsuit against the company should you find dissatisfaction with the services provided.

With Microsoft requiring the console to "phone home" every 24 hours to keep the system active, this would protect the company in the event of the Xbox Live servers going offline - rendering your console inactive - or if a network hacking scandal arose like we saw with the Sony PSN in 2011, where the network was down for an entire month.

Is this something big in the US?

Yeah, forces you to discuss and figure out a solution out of court.   If everybody who got a launch system had it break and they tried to band together to bring one huge ass lawsuit, they can't because of that.  Every EULA has this though, this isn't anything special for Xbox.
