If you're looking for deep, meaningful interactions between players, then you're looking at the wrong game imo.
None of the dungeons require a high level of coordination, so duty finder groups aren't a particularly interesting affair unless you take initiative. However, once you hit the extreme primals and binding coil of bahamut raid, you'll see a jump in difficulty. For these, you'll want to join a linkshell or guild so you can round up competent players.
Open world bosses, or "hunts", consist of dozens of players rushing to a location to melt a boss down, followed by people crying "WHY DIDN'T YOU WAIT UGH" in chat because they couldn't get a hit in during the ten seconds of combat.
FATEs are like GW2's dynamic events, meant to get multiple players together to do a thing, except in FFXIV that thing is never mechanically interesting, and thus isn't fun.
FFXIV's competitive PVP modes are also pure basura, which is reflected in the long as fuck queue times.
You'll get the most out of the MMO aspect if you're heavy into crafting, but even then you'll reach a point where you don't need the help of other players since you can max out all crafting professions. They're adding specializations to Heavensward, so this might not be any issue anymore.
edit: re: rage in premade groups, I've heard tales of the most populated servers being filled with humorless giganerds who get easily bent out of shape if you make a mistake.
