I know there isn't a lot to have hope and faith in these days Mandark, but there aren't words that can convey how ludicrously inept the Venezuelan opposition is. Well, except the G word.

In 30 years I'm going to have to hear some baby ultra-leftist tell me how unassailable Chavismo was because it built from the bottom up while we argue about whether the party should endorse the provisional American government and it's going to take all my energy to not just bust up laughing.

Food insecurity and inflation have always been rampant in Latin America and everywhere in the perifery of capitalism (Africa, Asia).
Suddenly because of Maduro the world elites are worried about that, very weird.

Trump has cut his own throat with this failed coup, and exposed himself as just another Deep State person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation Neocon Swamp Pig. The total disregard for International law, Democracy and the Sovereignty of Nations is sickening. From reading the comment sections for the last 2 days it's clear that Trump has lost over half his base with this political suicide. Trump is toast and must go. When Chavez Nationalized the oil in Venezuela the CIA who work for Corporations not the American people took this as a vengance job they killed Chavez with weaponized Cancer delivered to him at the U.N. As the Great Awakening andYellow Vests are showing us the days of the war criminals are ending, and a pointed reckoning awaits these criminals. Mark my words Karma is coming.

Very cool that the Hard Brexiteers are on the fast track to win by voting down a negotiated deal but helping the prime minister who negotiated it survive a vote of no confidence because there was a nontrivial chance of them losing a general election after the public saw that they were in the driver's seat. Very American, tbh. Use FPTP brehs.

The EU is more concerned how Paris is still revolting, whilst they pour in their (NOT YET PASSED PROPOSAL) EU tanks to silence dissenters to their criminal bullshit. The Whole brexit scenario is fear tactics and distractions.

We've got 2019's first election coming up, El Salvador will elect its President on February 3rd.

Polls say the "new politics center-right" one dude will win in a first round landslide or it'll be a tight race with ARENA's guy where he falls short of 50%. Really, like every poll for the last year has either one of these scenarios, no inbetween. In any case FMLN is supposed to get smashed.

Nigeria's got next. Then Cuba's referendum to end the Revolution.

The politcal changes are kind of stunning.

Just imagine the sort of rap sheet the first female President of the US would've had:

- Destruction of the ISIS caliphate
- Appeasment towards Cuba and an end to the revolution
- Renewed NATO commitment from EU allies
-Negotiated settlement with the Taliban in Afghanistan
- End of the Maduro/Chavez regime in Venezuela
- Trade agreement between the EU and US

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Instead we have Pence and Bolton flying across the globe pinky promising other governments that they can convince their boss to at least support the side he's supposed to be rooting for.

What I find strange about El Salvador is that Bukele runs on a right wing platforms under GANA but having family members in the police and military in El Salvador they post memes portraying him as what we would consider left wing here in the US. Family members here also talk about him like he’s the Salvadoran Obama despite being kicked out of the left wing party by taking aim at their corruption. The youth seems to love him but the establishment left and right in the country both seem to hate him.

Perception plays a big role in politics. Countries where the police and military have played such long and established roles in power, a general liberal or even just critic of their roles can seem like a revolutionary.

Despite the FMLN, portraying him as too left-wing makes sense from the ARENA and associated parties (of both general and political types) because they're probably looking forward to a run-off with the FMLN candidate only polling like 10%. So it's about their general coalition and the assumption that the "real" left-wing will vote for him in a run-off.

https://www.politico.eu/article/queen-evacuation-bad-brexit/
Quote
If Britain crashes out of the EU and things go bad in London, Queen Elizabeth II will be ready to make her own exit — to an undisclosed location.

The U.K. government has repurposed Cold War emergency evacuation planning to prepare for the chance of violence and mayhem following a no-deal Brexit, and the need to protect the royal family, the Sunday Times and the Mail on Sunday reported.
Quote
But the prospect of the queen being rushed to safety in a secret operation now joins the list of worst-case Brexit fears alongside potential shortages of food and medicine.

“The decision to evacuate members of the royal family is based on whether or not their safety is compromised,” the official told the Times.
Quote
The royal family's evacuation plan had originally involved an escape by yacht — perhaps with an initial cruise around northern Scottish islands. The Times reported that after the royal yacht Britannia was decommissioned in 1997, a subsequent plan called for using a cruise ship for a similar seaborne escape.

Another option would have involved secreting the royal family to one or more country homes.

There are no indications that Whitehall’s current emergency plan might involve relocating the queen to the Continent — presumably regarded as unfriendly terrain even if food and medicine are expected to remain plentiful. More plausibly, the royals could head to a Commonwealth territory, though certainly not Gibraltar, which has been a subject of dispute in the Brexit negotiations and could face its own turmoil in the event of a no-deal scenario.

Brexit riots?

That is the least likely scenario.  :doge

The press will chase Boris asking when he's going to take-over as leader and people passing by will call him a wanker.
And that's about the "excitement" the general public will be able to muster for a no deal Brexit.

I'm so hyped for this proxy war between US opportunists and Russian Chinese interests fighting to preserve their serious investment in Venezuela, the proxies being genuine Chavistas, the Venezuelan military (which has had substantive desertions), Cuban military support, Colombian right wing paramilitaries, US mercenaries, and genuine anti Chavez democratic opposition forces :noah

Tusk is not wrong though

Brexit only ever had two outcomes
-Hard brexit and hard border between the two Irelands, UK takes back control
-Soft brexit, totally meaningless scheme were UK has given away any say and must obey by EU rules and put in money

Everyone knew this before the vote

The EU is a peace project as many have said, and the whole good friday agreement was built on the two countries being neighbours in the EU

This should have been the main point during the leave campaign.

The Bank of England expects growth this year to be the slowest since 2009 when the economy was in recession.

It is forecasting growth of 1.2% this year, down from its previous forecast of 1.7% made in November.

The Bank said it had seen further evidence that businesses were being cautious in the run-up to Brexit, including evidence from its own survey of firms.

Announcement of announcement.

Quote
Theresa May has promised MPs a final, decisive vote on her Brexit deal with the EU - but not until she has secured changes to the Irish backstop clause.

The PM said she needed "some time" to get the changes she believes MPs want.

She promised to update MPs again on 26 February and, if she had not got a new deal by then, to give them a say on the next steps in non-binding votes.
