Remember that ferrying company that was awarded a £14M contract, except that it was founded in mid-2017 and owns no ships?

Well, contract was cancelled. At "no cost for the taxpayer", according to good old Theresa.
That is, if one ignores £800K spent on bid assessment :lol

El Salvadorian "Obama" won in the first round with 51%, so no second round. After he eliminates the police and military and destroys the country, expect to see him sneaking through our UNDEFENDED BORDER soon trying to take the job of President from a hard working American.

Ukraine is considering cutting down the size of the Chernobyl exclusion zone since it's been over 30 years and many places have seriously dropped apparently.

Obviously a sinister Ukrainian plot to lure in Russian "separatists" and poison them with radiation.

After Nissan cancelling the plans for production of their new model in their UK factory, some more great news, this time from Honda.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47282603

Quote
Honda is set to announce the closure of its Swindon car plant in 2022, with the loss of about 3,500 jobs.

The Japanese company made 160,000 Honda Civics in Swindon last year, of which some 90% were exported to the EU.

Honda has yet to make a formal announcement, and the Prime Minister's spokesman said Theresa May would not comment until an official confirmation.

But local MP Justin Tomlinson said he had spoken to Honda, which confirmed it was consulting with "all staff".

Meanwhile, Theresa begs for support: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47268417

And 7 labour MPs just bailed: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47278902

Can't wait for this Saturday in Venezuela. I predict violence and then jailing of the opposition leader like what happened to Lopez.

Reminds me of Nadine Morano "I'm not racist, I have friends blacker than Arabs" but she was on the Sarkozy Right, so fairly unsurprising, not friggin' Labour.

Now foreign aid for Venezuela is stockpiling in Pacaraima, Brazil. Maduro closing the ports off and the Brazilian border. Colombian border still open. The plan is obviously to accelerate the instability in Venezuela until there's real chaos and then the aid will be right there at the ready to be distributed by the opposition. Maduro is already distributing Russian aid, although I don't know how much that is compared to the "$20 million" sitting in Cúcuta.

London (CNN)Brexit could be on the brink of being postponed.

Three senior UK ministers have issued a warning to Theresa May that Britain's departure from the European Union should be delayed if there is no breakthrough on her deal in the next few days.
Writing in the UK's Daily Mail newspaper, cabinet members Amber Rudd, David Gauke and Greg Clark signaled they would support a vote in Parliament to have the Article 50 process extended in order to prevent Britain leaving the EU without a deal.

"If there is no breakthrough in the coming week, the balance of opinion in Parliament is clear -- that it would be better to seek to extend Article 50 and delay our date of departure rather than crash out of the European Union on March 29," the trio wrote in the article published Saturday.

What's the end? I don't think they actually do it in the end because it actually means losing their(Parliament) own personal wealth. Even the grifters don't think they can make any more money on Brexit.

Isn't it a bit of common wisdom that the grotesque horror of Kadhafi's demise (as a cherry on top of the West accepting him again as an international partner after shunning him and then fucking him up by overstepping their UN mandate without even bothering with the facade of a trial / way out... All in the space of a few years.) actually hardened attitudes and distrust towards Western diplomacy  ? Maybe not the most responsible statement to make...

Meanwhile... Protests in Alger over the candidacy of the incumbent President Bouteflika. It's not the Arab Spring but still fairly notable as those aren't really allowed. Bouteflika has already completed four successive mandates since 1999 despite suffering a severe stroke in 2013. Since then he's wheelchair bound, regularly abroad for medical treatment, almost invisible and definitely not giving any speeches. The reality is that Bouteflika is basically the ornemental figurehead of the aging and decaying nomanklatura that have been pulling the strings for a long time now. That they can't come up with anyone else than a man suspected of being barely lucid or severely incapacitated is pretty worrying for when they ultimately all croak (which shouldn't be that far off now) considering Algeria had an horrific civil war that bred some of the most violent tendencies of Islamic terrorism in the not so distant past. Can only hope the youth will rise up to the occasion, God knows we could use more sensible regimes worldwide now.

Labour has said it is prepared to back another EU referendum to prevent a "damaging Tory Brexit".

Jeremy Corbyn has told Labour MPs the party will move to back another vote if their own proposed Brexit deal is rejected on Wednesday.

Labour's Emily Thornberry said if the parliamentary process ended with a choice of no deal or the PM's deal, the public should decide.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Brexit pretty much fuck both Labor and the Tories, because they're both split pretty evenly between Remain and Leave supporters? Whatever position you take you're alienating a huge chunk of your supporters.

There's many angles on this brexit thing
- The mutineers (They both want Brexit no matter the cost and they want May to pack her bags. Rees Mogg)

- The Brexiteers (They want to leave the EU no matter what. TAKE BAKC COTNROL)

- The Brexiteers that want to have the cake and eat it too (They want to leave the EU on paper but remain in the common market. Boris Johnson!)

- The 'better deal' faction (They don't like the current deal and they don't like no deal. They'd prefer a better deal and they think that's possible if May went back to Brussels again.... again)

- The 'no-deal' or 'deal' faction (They don't want this deal, they're not clear on what sort of deal they would support but they don't want no-deal either. This was the Brexit secretary(Dominic Raab) position)

- The deal faction (They want this deal because they are convinced it is the only deal they're ever going to get)

- The 'different deal' faction (They keep telling that there should be a different deal than this deal. Not really 'better' but 'different'. Corbyn used to be here)

- The against Brexit but accept the will of the people faction (Those that don't want the Brexit at all but feel that it has to be done because of the vote. This is basically May's position)

- The 'Let's Try Again!' faction (They want a second referendum on Brexit, which means that there will be a third referendum)

- The 'Let's try something new' faction (They want a aye/nay referendum on May's deal, not necessarily a Brexit referendum)

- The Delay faction (They want the Brexit or not but they feel that the whole thing should be postponed regardless)

- The General Election faction (They think that a new PM would do better than May)

- The 'freedom of movement' faction (Want to stick in the EU but don't want the 'freedom of movement' that comes with it)

- The against Brexit faction (They just want the whole thing reversed and scrapped but they don't want to go back to the way it was as an EU member. They want some serious concessions)

- The 'OOPS' faction (Just wants to reverse Brexit and then return to the way things were)

- The remainers (They want to remain in the EU no matter the cost. Even if the UK has nothing to say they want to remain a part of it)

- The bring back Cameron faction (Not only do they want Brexit reversed they'd also like to see Cameron back as PM)

The Tories are more Leave and Labor's more Remain, but you're right that it cuts across party lines more than other issues.

May hasn't been able to get support for her deal, so her current strategy seems to be running out the clock until there's a crisis (either accept her deal or suffer a crash Brexit with no deal in place) and hope that her party's hardliners and/or Labour squishes will cave at the last second.

The EU needs to revise the rules regarding leaving the bloc asap. It's completely ridiculous that one nation can practically hold the entire union hostage by declaring to leave at a predetermined date, and then unilaterally postpone the exit or even cancel it at will.

Don't take my word on this but the European Court of Justice did actually say you could do just that some months ago, against the opinion of the EU. Which indeed sounds ridiculous.
