What pick do the lions have in the first round? And who do you think they should pick up PD?
The Lions have the #10 pick in the first round. There's a lot of talk that we're going to trade up to get Sammy Watkins, who is considered to be the best WR in the draft and a major talent.
He's amazing but I hope to god we don't trade up for him. We'd have to give up too many picks to trade into the top 4 to get him. We need depth, and are lucky to have a lot of picks this year.
This is the deepest draft for WR in ages, meaning we could easily get a really good one in the second or third round. I'd much rather do that. We already have Megatron and Golden Tate, why waste a top 10 pick on a WR when we can find a really good one later?
Dunno who I want at 10. I kind of want to trade down a few spots so we can gain another pick. I'd prefer a LB or safety, but I could see us taking another CB. Chris Houston is apparently struggling with a toe injury and might have surgery soon, and he's the only decent CB we have. We have a bunch of young guys on the team who hopefully will make progress this year, but we might need to take another CB. If that's the case I'd go with Michigan State's Darqueze Dennard.
You know that our defense struggles making tackles on the first try. This dude can do that very well. He can play man to man or zone.
If not Denard...I guess I'd gamble on Anthony Barr, who is a LB. He has only played the position for a couple years but is considered to be really good. We need someone who can rush the quarterback and that's his specialty.
Bottom line: we have a lot of picks, no point in losing them to acquire one guy (no matter how good he is). Last year we had a great draft and picked up multiple starters alongside some good depth, I want to do it again. No one player in the draft will make us a Superbowl team, but if we can put together another great draft we'll be on our way.
