It took years to get my parents to stop reflexively using IE, which always resulted in spyware I had to deal with.

FWIW, apparently this exploit fails with Enhanced Protected Mode turned on (or in Metro IE which has the equiv of EPM always on). Originally 8.1 turned it on by default on desktop too but that was reversed in an update unfortunately (it breaks some addons).

first of all get your pronouns right, nicca :ufup even the lady at the DMV gets it right
second of all nothing you say is gonna hurt my case, I've already beat it to a bloody pulp. I rarely ever prefer KB+M over controller when it comes to video games. Hell I'm the kinda person that's just waiting for tablets to put the traditional PC to death so I never have to touch another god-forsaken keyboard again. Thumbs > fingers as far as quick, reliable input is concerned.

Yeah, I use all 10 fingers with tablets - it feels delightfully decadent to scroll by puckishly flicking your pinkie or whatever.

speaking of which, the back gesture in IE10/11 is the best thing ever, or at least it WAS but I think the fucking spring GDR did something to it that makes it less sensitive and thus less reliable to trigger. yet ANOTHER thing for me to hate about that dream-destroying update

Apparently ARPG among PC-centric gamers means "Diablo clone"? I don't get it either.  ???

To me an ARPG was always something like Secret of Mana or whatever.

Action rpg is like Diablo. An rpg with a hack and slash element. CARPG would be a better name to not confuse console people, but alas.

Secret of Mana is still an arpg.

This. Basically the argument quickly becomes "well this game is awesome and it uses x, so x is better" when in reality either can be perfect for the design of a game. I can certainly see why someone would prefer a game pad over kb/m for simplicity and comfort. The 360 pad is just so good, it's beautiful

Shooters will always be better to control with a mouse though. It's a pointing interface. For aiming, you can't get a much better fit than that, really.

I dunno, shooters that place more emphasis on movement rather than aiming (i.e. games that were designed on console like CoD, Halo, etc.) tend to be really boring and easy with mouse controls. It wasn't until I played them on a controller that they really made sense.

Conceptually I agree with you, but many modern FPS aren't designed around the insanely high precision of a mouse.

Baldur's Gate DA was indeed dope on a controller/console. However it's a pretty short game; I beat it in about a day iirc. I can't imagine playing it for 100 hours with a controller.

(Image removed from quote.) why don't you just turn the difficulty up

For some reason raban seems allergic to higher difficulty modes. She was saying Diablo 3 is boring so I was like turn the difficulty up, normal is lame. And it took some effort before she listened to me! Turned the difficulty up and now she likes D3!

And shooters - At least in multi - are about aiming as much as movement. When you're fighting a duel with a guy who is doing a jump fest (I.e. strafing and jumping to be in an unpredictable movement pattern) you need to move in a similar manner while also having precise aiming before he gets you. Aiming is equally as important as movement in fps. Third person shooters are more about movement than aiming. You must be confused.

Wiimote+, yes, standard Wiimote, no. Provided the re-sync is fast for when you inevitably wander off the screen. Lightguns were cool, too.

Point is, even a touchscreen is better than a stick. Driving the reticule to a point on the screen is just crap.

I remember when people argued that the wii remote is better because the acceleration and deceleration re-centering the cursor made it more cinematic than mouse aiming  :wtf

Wiimote isn't really better than KBM in any way. My hand got tired for a bit pointing at the screen while playing Resident Evil 4 of all games. Never mind the fact that pointing with the wiimote is a finicky and unreliable thing, forcing you to sometimes aim below the tv just to see a cursor.
