I loved the PSP, and I love the Vita. The "big" games can never come to the thing, and I won't care.

But I was also the type who wanted the "console experience" on my handhelds, not just dumbed-down bite-sized stuff, so what do I know. I have odd tastes.

Except the newer system isn't getting that. At all, it's getting Indies and JRPG's for "console ports." Which is great, if you're into the type of JRPG's they are hawking (which is skeezy for a majority of them). I'm not. The system has flopped hard on me despite me buying TWO (yes, L for me I know) and buying into the fighting game Renaissance at the time along with hoping PSP/PSX support would improve. Double so with the second stick support. Portable Ape Escape in the West, for instance, maybe finally getting the license from Japan. But nada, nothing. Zilch besides creepy pedobait.

No, I understand why people may not like the system. But the "it's only for pedos" stuff bugs me, because I don't go for that stuff, yet I have tons of things to play. It's the weird Japanese gaming and indie system, and really, that's all I want/need from it.

I don't blame anyone who's disappointed in it, but I'm not. I love the thing to death. Do I wish it was getting a bigger and better variety of games, though? Of course! I wish it was the most popular thing in the world and has tons of games for it.

This. The Vita has plenty of games for it with new stuff coming out all the time...but if you're not interested in Japanese games, you're not really going to find too much. The western presence on this system is pretty much just some indie game ports at this point. But even then I'd rather play those games on a Vita instead of on a smartphone with shitty touch-only controls or play them on a portable console. If you look at the much more popular 3DS upcoming release list, it's not exactly on fire either.

I liked the early Sony stuff on Vita before they bailed-Wipeout, Hot Shots, Killzone--the Vita game is the best one seriously.

But I just play indies on it these days. No big Japanese heavy hitter is supporting it--Capcom, no. SE kinda, but not really. Konami--lol.

Hot Shots was the one thing that kept me from selling my Vita until I eventually sold it. Fuck an Uncharted and God of War, Hot Shots is the best Sony series after Wipeout
