Splatoon is anti competitive. Competition and competitiveness means playing at a high skill level with other people who have similar skills. Not being able to play with friends, no mic chat, playlists and maps changing during the day, Nintendo tried their hardest to make someone's skills not matter.

How did anyone not see this coming though? 1st party on PSP was mostly a wasteland, the system was propped up by 3rd parties who when the Vita launched no longer cared about portables or had moved to mobile (or in the case of MH, Sony let get moneyhatted to 3DS.)

I worked on PSP games and our boss told us the next PSP wasn't coming out for like a year or more the year the Vita got announced. They rushed that damn thing to market and had zero plan for it and haven't really tried to make one.

Making PSP games was awful, you knew you'd be lucky if people even bothered pirating your game.
