Did they? I thought both MS and Sony used off the shelf (bottom shelf at that) parts for everything. Sony used to make their own chips.

I remembered that MS teamed with AMD and shared costs in designing the chip. That was estimated at 3 billion(s). There was also that story of the XBO controllers costing hundred of millions of dollars to design. I would imagine Kinect 2.0 was in the same ballpark.

I got my tag for naming someone's kid on GAF (or at least presenting a compelling case that I did ) and they chose the name Dashiell not in honor of (overblown) American author Dashiell Hammett, but a character from The Incredibles.



I liked it better when people gave their kids names of characters in soap operas.

i dial it back my language a little on here, but i feel like the benefits of somewhere like this over a place like GAF is that anything i say has some personal context. over there, you are your last 200 words.

they have a rule of "argue the argument, not the person", which while making sense for over there, also demonstrates how an internet megapolis serves to dehumanise its userbase.

i've always been fond of the idea that words are just the clothes people dress in. this place gives us all a chance to get naked.

I managed to make enough to reach my goal of bringing down the cost of MAGIX Audio Blahblahblah 2014 from $50 to $25. According to my badges page I still have around $50 worth of drops to use up, so that money can go towards whatever piece of crap software MAGIX puts on sale next.
