I seriously do not get why a living wage increase for the bottom AND increasing the wages for the middle class isn't possible. Doesn't the Fed regulate how much money there is out there? Can't they just... pump... more money out into the economy to balance the wage increase and give the middle class their safety-blanket of a "bigger than minimum wage" paycheck?

It's entirely possible that the wages paid to a child whose parents are alive would be lower than the total cost of taking care of these orphans. After all, the parents might only expect their child to contribute towards the cost of raising him, not meet it entirely.
