Do you realize how much of a disadvantage you have in that kind of position? From my experience, girls are fascinated by trans women. I'd understand her feelings, I could relate to her on an emotional and mental level, we can actually have fun going clothes shopping together, we'd probably have similar tastes in things like home decor or what car we buy, AND I can give her a deep dicking.

Don't underestimate your competition. Also, with my taste in shoes, they're probably my first source of defense if we do throw down. *heh*

Some of us have to make the "sacrifice" and buy it for $60 to ensure more sequels which you can also buy 5 months later for $19.99. That's how it works.

I know it gets shit on a lot around here, but Heavy Rain really drew me into its world and I felt incredibly tense during certain scenes. Heck, at one point I actually tossed my controller to the side and held my head looking at the ground, trying to figure out what to do.

it's pretty astonishing how many fanboy picket lines of conflict the order as crashed through:

you can never have too many cut-scenes
QTEs are a valuable mechanic
game length is irrelevant to value
it's fine to undermine gameplay in order to give a cinematic impression
no amount of linearity or limitation of agency is too much
it doesn't matter what percentage of time you're actually playing the game
having a third of the screen blacked out is okay
full youtube play-throughs give no indication of a game's length or story
trinkets and collectables are valuable content that are fundamental to the experience

it's an albatross made of rock bottom standards that everyone propping the game up will have to drag with them through the console wars of the future. that's without getting into the godawful cliched patchwork schlock of a story which i'm sure they'll be explaining away when it comes out.

I don't understand the point of participating in a lengthy discussion about anything before you've read, played, or seen it yet.

It's either "I'm looking forward to this game/book/movie" or "I'm not interested in this game/book/movie." What else is there to even talk about at that point?

And then get butthurt over spoilers?  I mean, I could understand getting pissed if you're in a general thread about new releases or something and someone runs in wild dick swinging and blows up the ending of a game you're looking forward to, but a thread specifically devoted to talk about a single game? That's the whole fucking point of the thread. What the fuck were you doing sticking your mug in there to begin with? It's like you're saying to everyone else "Hey, I haven't played this game yet, so don't talk about it, but let's talk about it. But don't talk about it."

Ever watch a 24/7 news channel when an "event" is happening. They have like two pieces of fact and won't know anything more for hours, so they fill the time by speculating.

For these people the ever forthcoming "event" is the upcoming product of some corporation they've sworn a blood oath to.

iirc the places FF7 does this are in the Kalm flashbacks, and I think also in the sequence inside Cloud's head later on. strictly speaking those aren't exactly cutscenes, but rather what would in modern times be termed walking simulators.

xenogears does have a straight-up cutscene on d i s c  2 that is like 2 hours long with a save point in the middle.

yes but with a sprinkling of boss fights and dungeons and walking here and there, such that iirc there is only one savepoint that is 100% literally between two segments of 1 0 0 %  p u r e  u n a d u l t e r a t e d  c u t s c e n e.

Quote
Gameplay :
Very simple but efficient action scenes, a large amount of QTE and some poor sneaking levels.

Graphics :
Top notch textures, mind blowing effects and no transition between game and cinematics. Awesome.

Sound :
Really good ambiant score, good dialogs, and good feedback from the weapons.

Duration :
Almost 7 hours, without running, which is a bit short (knowing that cinematics is half the duration..).

Global :
A lovely object, between a movie and a game. Some can considers it half-win or half-fail, it is the way you love Videogames that will be decisive.

so 3.5 hours of actual QTE... niceeee

That's fine if you have a big game and the cut scenes don't take up most of the game time. Then again, what do I know? I'm a Metal Gear Solid fan.

To be fair though: You could skip the cutscenes and codec calls in MGS. I think from the get-go, if not after the first playthrough. And MGS generally "sprinkles" them with bits of gameplay for longer than the cutscene.

The only MGS with more cutscenes than actual gameplay is MGS4. Which... didn't really "end the series" as well as Kojima intended. :yeshrug

it was easy to forgive MGS4 because 1-3 were all amazing.  and Ground Zeroes gameplay is even better than all those (after you turn off reflex and shit) so i've forgotten mgs4.

(it was really bad though.)

MGS as a series has some serious pacing issues. I love MGS1, 2, and 3, but if you don't skip cutscenes or codec calls the pacing feels all sorts of fucked up. MGS as a series is meant to be replayed though, with ranking systems in play and a ton of difficulties. The gameplay that you do get in these games is fantastic.

MGS4 amounted to being a huge fork in the road for MGS fans, you either love it for some reason or detest it.

I detest that turd. Made me really apathetic about the series, then the HD collection, Metal Gear Rising, and MGS Ground Zeroes/V came out.

I don't really see the pacing issues since it takes about 15-30 minutes to figure out a route through the guards unless you abuse tranqs but even then you don't have infinite ammo so you have to save your tranqs and find tranq ammo and the like. Once you get past those, the cutscenes are generally ~5-15 mins max unless you're in MGS4 which is OH GOD WHYYYYYYY in terms of cutscenes (Act 5 before the fist fight. WHYYYYY).

It got too much with MGS4 more than a few times, but I still really enjoyed it and I do like the at times stupidly long codec calls as well.
