That wasn't a power move, that was the obvious response. What did the client PM think was going to happen when he tried to set up a meeting in order to chastise your team's behavior? He didn't think you were ready to turn that into an assessment of his team as well? And in an email forwarded to everyone, no less? Dumb/10
you'd be surprised how often clients will just take a giant shit on consultants/advisers when a project isn't where it should it be, or how often the third party will just drop its pants and take it so props to puppy for standing his ground without being a dick

My temp contract had to be extended for a couple months and I think somebody pressed the wrong button because now my paycheck says Regulatory Affairs Manager instead of Program Manager (I only manage myself, if I'm lucky). I'm gonna update my resume to make it look like I had a promotion.

Interview on site today. Went okay I think. They went straight for on-site and paid for travel fees.

Different company for a phone interview tomorrow. This’ll be round 2, next one may be on-site.

I’m confident that I can succeed at these positions, and it feels  good to be considered.

I just roll my own auth with JWT. I don't let my tokens expire but I do validate for consistency.

I'm making an app that posts vids to YouTube, so this was about letting people add their channels so my app can post and whatnot. Always abandoned setting this up with prior projects, this time I stuck it through.

Cool. I recently modified my Finnish-made rifle, which is actually owned by an Italian company, with an Austrian-made scope. And I ate at a Croatian restaurant.

I've been in my 11 m^2 apartment since April 4, but my first two weekends were back with my family. Most mornings I just get up and have a cold shower (haven't connected gas, won't need it in a couple more weeks) and lament my lack of amenities, skip breakfast and head out.

Instead of that, this morning I boiled water in a pot, made some black tea, warmed up a biscuit with fermented butter and apricot preserves. It was a great start. So I also went to the park across the street and did a super-brief workout before heading to the train.

I feel really energized and positive right now.

Pretty much looks like 3m by 3.6m with a about ⅓ of it used up by a nook kitchen, and a very small unit toilet/tub/shower that is built for humans smaller than I am.

Cutting back on expenses. At US$25/month, Lynda.com has probably received US$1500 from me, and I've definitely had more consistent results from random google or YouTube solutions every time I hit a technical problem. Finally canceled my subscription.

Honestly, it's a crap name for the site, and I think they're trying to transition to LinkedIn Learning, which is not exactly a marketing phrase which rolls off the tongue.

I get a new trial month of Linkedin Learning every year. That's enough for me to catch up on new content. Most of their courses are too basic to be useful. I've had better experience with Coursera and Udemy,

I wanted the Stalker Blu-Ray but it's OOP and selling for like $80 on eBay, so I looked around at a few online stores and found it in-stock at Barnes & Noble at around MSRP ($40), but with the 15% Mother's Day coupon and the Nook class action lawsuit store credit I still had left over after buying Alan Moore's Jerusalem like two years ago, I got it down to $20 shipped.

My brother and I got a car for my mom like right after my parents started divorce proceedings 5 years ago. It was good for a couple years but then started getting to the point that we would constantly take her on test drives of other cars. We saw the perfect little Acura with radar/lane-keeping everything and convinced her that for Mother's Day, she should let us trade-in the old, tired Lexus as the down payment for it.

A 1/4 mile from the dealership, the transmission had a catastrophic failure and slipped like I've never seen while going up a hill. I had to reverse 50 yards down a busy street and take a less hilly path around to the dealership. I never got it to exceed 20 mph and I rolled through every single stop sign to maintain momentum. When I coasted into the parking lot, I cleared the check engine lights for the final time using my OBD2 scanner.

I am so thankful they did not drive that car around to appraise it. We clenched for 8 hours haggling the way you would expect Persians and Philipinos to do and then we took the offer and ran.

We also got her perfumes and chocolates, but this was so much better.
