Live footage of Chrono's workout

One of my favourite movies ever.

What does an 11m² apartment even look like?

In Japan? That's like a goddamn penthouse.

Was goofing off around 4 at work researching cheap $20 wireless keyboard/mouse deals. Ended up going to Staples and picking up a $100 one (MK875). I got no rugrats.

Pretty much looks like 3m by 3.6m with a about ⅓ of it used up by a nook kitchen, and a very small unit toilet/tub/shower that is built for humans smaller than I am.

Cutting back on expenses. At US$25/month, Lynda.com has probably received US$1500 from me, and I've definitely had more consistent results from random google or YouTube solutions every time I hit a technical problem. Finally canceled my subscription.

Honestly, it's a crap name for the site, and I think they're trying to transition to LinkedIn Learning, which is not exactly a marketing phrase which rolls off the tongue.

I get a new trial month of Linkedin Learning every year. That's enough for me to catch up on new content. Most of their courses are too basic to be useful. I've had better experience with Coursera and Udemy,

I wanted the Stalker Blu-Ray but it's OOP and selling for like $80 on eBay, so I looked around at a few online stores and found it in-stock at Barnes & Noble at around MSRP ($40), but with the 15% Mother's Day coupon and the Nook class action lawsuit store credit I still had left over after buying Alan Moore's Jerusalem like two years ago, I got it down to $20 shipped.

1)  Think I got another scholarship - thought I was too old for this one - will be the last one I get through
2)  Supervisor canceled a group meeting I was bailing on without explanation due to depression.

So good day so far.

My brother and I got a car for my mom like right after my parents started divorce proceedings 5 years ago. It was good for a couple years but then started getting to the point that we would constantly take her on test drives of other cars. We saw the perfect little Acura with radar/lane-keeping everything and convinced her that for Mother's Day, she should let us trade-in the old, tired Lexus as the down payment for it.

A 1/4 mile from the dealership, the transmission had a catastrophic failure and slipped like I've never seen while going up a hill. I had to reverse 50 yards down a busy street and take a less hilly path around to the dealership. I never got it to exceed 20 mph and I rolled through every single stop sign to maintain momentum. When I coasted into the parking lot, I cleared the check engine lights for the final time using my OBD2 scanner.

I am so thankful they did not drive that car around to appraise it. We clenched for 8 hours haggling the way you would expect Persians and Philipinos to do and then we took the offer and ran.

We also got her perfumes and chocolates, but this was so much better.

Actually went to the dentist for the first time in a decade. Actually paying for regular healthcare and taking a vacation are huge milestones for me in terms of self care.

Did the basic math for my wife and showed her that driving her beloved current car is more financially efficient than buying a new car that she doesn't really want yet.

I thought I missed the last train south from L.A. tonight so I called a car to pick me up and take me home. When I was shooting the shit with the driver they informed me that I'd merely missed the last commuter rail train of the day but not the last passenger rail train, then took me to Union Station so I could catch a train home.

Wife had a business trip to Tokyo, enjoyed a quiet evening together.
Slept in a real bed for the first time in three weeks.
Had a hot shower for the first time in three weeks. Actually, showered last night and again this morning. It was pretty great.
Had a pleasant chat over coffee this morning, saw her off, got to work an hour earlier than normal and will be leaving for a game night with friends probably appropriately early as well.

Life is good.

Interviewed for a job last week nearer to home (Kansai). During my ride home from the interview, they texted me to let me know they want me to work there. Today, back in Tokyo, I received a verbal offer in line with my needs.

Super-duper stoked. I had not realized how badly I was stressing over my upcoming job.

Nice chrono, congrats!

I got a job interview lined up next week in a job that is in a fun environment and doesn't involve evening and weekend shifts. Exactly what I need.

Same pay, but a week more paid holiday and double the pension plan.

Fingers crossed!

After so many false starts, countless false starts, I'm finally on my way out. I am sky rocketing right now.

For this year I listed three goals in the new year's thread. Get abs, beat depression, get a gf.

I was actually the least certain about that second goal. But now I'm absolutely convinced I am not just beating depression; I'm beating the shit out of it. I am knocking depression the fuck out.

It seems too good to be true, but this time really is different. It's crazy how everything is falling into place, but at the very same time, it also makes absolute perfect sense.

I'll probably write another more elaborate triumph post later this month.

Bless the fuck up.

experience setbacks brehs

im guessing end of june will be what i thought end of may would be, but we'll see
You can beat that bitch depression friend.

Just nuke it from orbit one step at a time 8)
