Someone knocked at my door at 3am looking for someone that lives 2 or 3 houses down. Motherfucker, if you don't know where someone lives, 3am isn't a good time to figure it out. He didn't even seem high.
I'm legitimately interested in how you actually addressed this person at 3AM, and how long it took you to get back to sleep.

I gotta try absinthe to continue on my path towards true Kara-ization :preach

You're an inspiration man :usacry
I want to try it too...

What's a good "beginner's" (if there is such a thing, haha...) absinthe, Kara?  :whew

I started with Kubler, it's a reasonable (by absinthe standards) costing brand but it's a pretty potent flavor, like drinking a ski slope.

I'd probably recommend starting with La Clandestine, it's a very clean so you can tell if you like the core flavor of absinthe before you start diving into all the crazy herb infused ones. Pretty much any blanche (clear) one is a good starting place since by default they have less herbs.

Oh yeah, newbie absintheur #lifehacks:

-A fork works just fine as an absinthe spoon. Absinthe spoons are just a symbol of how dedicated you are to being a degenerate, nothing more.
-Sugar cubes are on the baking aisle in the grocery store.
-You will have far too many sugar cubes for your needs when you buy a box so plan accordingly.
-There are a lot of shady knockoffs / cash-ins, make sure the label ALWAYS says "absinthe superieure," the feds require you to label absinthe that.
-Never refrigerate your absinthe, just keep it in a liquor cabinet or something similar.

Looking up absinthe in wiki...

Quote
The custom of drinking absinthe gradually became so popular in bars, bistros, cafés, and cabarets that, by the 1860s, the hour of 5 p.m. was called l'heure verte ("the green hour"). Absinthe was favoured by all social classes, from the wealthy bourgeoisie, to poor artists and ordinary working-class people. By the 1880s, mass production had caused the price of absinthe to drop sharply. By 1910, the French were drinking 36 million litres of absinthe per year, as compared to their annual consumption of almost 5 billion litres of wine.

As a francophile I can't believe I haven't gotten in on this shit sooner. :lawd

Though obviously making wine my go-to has worked out favorably. :jawalrus

One critic claimed:

Absinthe makes you crazy and criminal, provokes epilepsy and tuberculosis, and has killed thousands of French people. It makes a ferocious beast of man, a martyr of woman, and a degenerate of the infant, it disorganizes and ruins the family and menaces the future of the country.

Holy shit how have I not hopped on this train sooner :lawd

It's funny how French a drink it was for a period of time and how that was annihilated by the ban. Pastis (which is a similar style of spirit) eventually filled the void, but people don't really know about the link between pastis and absinthe if they even know about pastis in the first place.

Also, just today I gave that same excuse of "Oh, I didn't get enough sleep last night. That's why I'm jittery." To the grocery store cashier today while I was writing a check. Which was a lie. I had plenty of sleep.  :stahp

She even said to me, "Hey, are you okay? You can take your time with that check you know."

And I'm all: "Hahaha! Yeah, I'm fine! Hahaha!" *b-lines out the door*

I'm totally lost. What is bringing this on?

idk much about how pastis is made besides the different kind of anise it uses, but using vodka in a home brew is usually a red flag for fake as heck.

I don't know for certain. I just assume I have some sort of social anxiety even though I haven't been properly diagnosed.

Now that I have a good chunk of money to spend, after saving it for two years while I was living with my parents, I'll probably try to get some sort of professional help.

And yes, I could be worse off. Sorry about your shitty situation whatever it may be.  :(

Don't sweat it, when I started my current position, the guy before me was making deals under the table with our own inventory and making bank. I was supposed to shadow him and learn. Turns out they fired his ass two weeks into my first month and I'm left here basically managing everything flying by the seat of my pants.

If you just started don't sweat your fuck ups, it's gonna happen. Just learn from them, write them down or at least understand why you fucked up and don't repeat it. My first year was awful, but it was like eh, yall don't have any other choice.  :patel

ah you'll start to learn which clients/projects you can milk. for example i have a client i can bill 3 hours of my time to even though i only spend like 20min actually working. the rest of budget is for the director's review time. always ask the person who assigns you a task what the deadline and budget is or how long you're expected to take

This is not something you can just fucking drop into a thread.

It's horrible. It's absolutely fucking horrible, and it needs to be addressed, but dropping photos of dead children into a thread out of nowhere isn't going to advance the cause.
