Put in my two weeks yesterday.
"So why is this a struggle," you might ask.
Management-level staffing at this place has been atrocious for a while. If just one person is off or calls out, shit can go down...especially in the evenings and on weekends. The guy who comes in after me put in a time off request two months ago, for yesterday and today, and nobody bothered to schedule him for this until Wednesday. Even then, that's two days to find someone, right?
NOPE. They didn't get anyone. And since I'm the unfortunate one who was still there at the time, I was asked to stay at work until 11:30 PM (got in at 9:15 AM). My boss admitted this was all her fault and said she'd see about finding someone to take my place today so I wouldn't have to come in. I know her well enough to know that this wasn't going to happen. We asked literally everyone who could handle things and everyone said they couldn't do it.
Fortunately, around 8:00 PM I found that another lead who was supposed to be on vacation had popped in to do some work and he was cool with covering. So I let them know that I'd come back in for my regular shift today from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. There is still nobody here that is coming in after me. I was told that someone in our other office (in another city) will watch everything. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
And I still expect some shit to go down where they try to keep me here. I'm already working a nine hour day without breaks or lunch, bitches. That's enough. Shit's about to get worse when everyone finds out that I'm leaving. They're gonna have to scramble to get coverage and people are not gonna be happy. I'm just hoping I can get through the next two weeks unscathed.

(I know I could just walk right out the door, but I don't want to burn any bridges)
