The Polygon article is a bit clumsy in its phrasing but it seems obvious to me that the issue brought forward is not really the prejudice to the virtual character but rather how the situation seems to be staged to cater to a slighty creepy "invisible perv" scenario ? Power & domination fantasies are common in porn and well...  quite a lot of people, so it's not necessarily alarming and the sign of an impending VR fueled Rapocalypse, but in the current context of recent videogames and / or japanese mass culture production history, it's also not very encouraging either that the first implementation in a somewhat high profile title is going there.

(Arguably the thing is that playing sex doll with the models is probably the maximum that can be done at this point in terms of programming.)
