The latter?  Michelle is part Native American, part Chinese.  Julia is her adopted daughter and seems to just be listed as "American."

Soul Calibur got a small update that adds in more CAS parts (some new, some old), plus selectable Soul Edge and Soul Calibur music:

Limited Run Games is selling limited physical production runs of Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai (PS4) and KOF '97 Global Match (PS4 and Vita).  Both have CEs-- KOF is particularly awesome since they got NeoGeo AES style shockboxes made to put the games in!

:lawd

Wish they did this with Windjammers!

All the Vita versions are currently sold out but PS4 is still available.  They'll also have another run up for sale at 6:00 PM EST today.  Vita will likely sell out again in minutes and the PS4 games will probably be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

I grabbed:

Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai Wai-Fu Edition (PS4)
King of Fighters 97 Global Match (PS4)
King of Fighters 97 Global Match Classic Edition (Vita)

I think I might fuck with DOA6, but would rather it on PC since that is where I have been playing lately and have a feeling this one will be DLC poison. They didn't even include a beach stage out of the box! Hopefully the port is ok...not sure if rolling with the deluxe or not.

I wish they still had the VF characters.  :'(

I tried the DoA6 demo and as a casual DoA fan who hasn't really played the series much since 4, it didn't seem to look or play much better than 5 Last Round? Like I look at MK11 and the graphic jump is noticeable, even Soul Caliber 6 over 5, but DoA6 still looks like a PS3 game to me...

It looks way better than 5LR IMO. First impressions are pretty good but I am not sure about the inclusion of meter.

Hoping that they do a good job with the PC-  it's Koei-Tecmo so it's either going to be really good or total shit.  At least we won't have to worry about this being a last-gen port-up like DOA 5LR, with visual detail/content missing.

It has a whole new meter and button added, for starters, and there are the typical changed up moves and balance changes that come with new iterations.  I've been messing with the Deluxe demo that's available this weekend and some stuff I used to be able to do in DOA5 doesn't work anymore.

Visually this is akin to Soul Calibur 6 to me, actually- you can see the older assets that are there as well as the new ones and the backgrounds are noticeably more-detailed.  The game also has a graphic setting for performance (framerate focused) and one for improved visuals, but I'm not sure what the difference is with the latter enabled, since I went right for performance when I saw that was available.

It looks way better than 5LR IMO. First impressions are pretty good but I am not sure about the inclusion of meter.

The damage output doesn't seem to be too absurd from the "super blows" with the meter, and it also nets you an additional counter.  So far online I've mostly seen scrubs just mash on the special button- doing that does an auto combo that ends with the super move, but the damage is minimal when does this way.

I love Dead Or Alive.  It's my favorite 3D fighting game series and I'm pretty psyched about DOA6 because the online play has finally been improved.  That's not to say that there aren't issues -I had matches where the game said the opponent was 5 bars and the match was a laggy, shitty mess, but for the most part, the connection quality has been pretty good.

I like newcomer Nico a fair bit, too- she almost seems TOO good though.

Didn't even think about this until I saw it mentioned on Eventhubs- DOA6 actually shows whether or not your opponent is on a wireless or wired connection, along with their connection strength, which is awesome.  Might be the first fighting game that does this.

no gear is weird cause evo is an arc revo qualifier...that is running one of the three games in the tournament series :lol

unist wont get many entries but it will be easy to run to completion in one day. same for soul. not running melee really frees up a lot of space for other games that can run relatively quickly

except for when he says "dead or alive won't ever be at evo". mans hates gg but he never went on the record ruling it out. he uses the excuse "no one enters DOA" pretty regularly if you ask him in person about it, which i have. this would have been the year to have it if he wasn't such a bitch about the game, but if sonicfox can't even convince him, then it won't happen. :(

also gg and bb still gonna be at evo for arc revo

yep, it'll run on anything. its fun game and has a truly in-depth and extremely detailed tutorial (if you don't mind reading mountains of text). but its a cool title with a focus on normals and even though there are tiers and such, it really is a game where any character can win with some smart play.

Just make sure that you get Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] and not Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late.

The price is currently $40 on Steam.  It's gone on sale several times- I think I got it for $25 at launch.

It's also pretty much dead online on Steam.  Dunno about PS4 but I had a hard time finding matches when the game first came out.

ps4 has people playing it but you're best using the discords rather than relying on matchmaking

https://discordapp.com/invite/cx5GNqT - Main UNIST discord
https://discordapp.com/invite/sSpbW8F - PC specific UNIST discord

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pMuiRdTNt76n18CUg_DgYEhJcYdJP0eSpcIuTRtZ4UM/edit - good run down of the characters
http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Under_Night_In-Birth/UNIST - more good overview info, but the in-game tutorial is very deep so use that

it's pretty fun and not a ton like melty. its an anime style game with SF ground game/footsies, not really a focus on the air game/air dashes like other anime titles.

This is a video focused overview of the game and each characters, it's useful to watch if you can't decide on playing the game or now.

Yes, that's totally what I'm implying.   ::)

The game has a pretty low playerbase online.  Like...super low.  To the point where even at release it was hard to find matches.  It's even worse on PC.
:idont

There are some fighting games I'd like to get on Steam, but don't bother- if the discussion boards have posts saying that nobody's online, I don't see the point.  It sucks.  :-\
