I think I might fuck with DOA6, but would rather it on PC since that is where I have been playing lately and have a feeling this one will be DLC poison. They didn't even include a beach stage out of the box! Hopefully the port is ok...not sure if rolling with the deluxe or not.
I wish they still had the VF characters. :'(
Hoping that they do a good job with the PC- it's Koei-Tecmo so it's either going to be really good or total shit. At least we won't have to worry about this being a last-gen port-up like DOA 5LR, with visual detail/content missing.
I tried the DoA6 demo and as a casual DoA fan who hasn't really played the series much since 4, it didn't seem to look or play much better than 5 Last Round? Like I look at MK11 and the graphic jump is noticeable, even Soul Caliber 6 over 5, but DoA6 still looks like a PS3 game to me...
It has a whole new meter and button added, for starters, and there are the typical changed up moves and balance changes that come with new iterations. I've been messing with the Deluxe demo that's available this weekend and some stuff I used to be able to do in DOA5 doesn't work anymore.
Visually this is akin to Soul Calibur 6 to me, actually- you can see the older assets that are there as well as the new ones and the backgrounds are noticeably more-detailed. The game also has a graphic setting for performance (framerate focused) and one for improved visuals, but I'm not sure what the difference is with the latter enabled, since I went right for performance when I saw that was available.
It looks way better than 5LR IMO. First impressions are pretty good but I am not sure about the inclusion of meter.
The damage output doesn't seem to be too absurd from the "super blows" with the meter, and it also nets you an additional counter. So far online I've mostly seen scrubs just mash on the special button- doing that does an auto combo that ends with the super move, but the damage is minimal when does this way.
I love Dead Or Alive. It's my favorite 3D fighting game series and I'm pretty psyched about DOA6 because the online play has finally been improved. That's not to say that there aren't issues -I had matches where the game said the opponent was 5 bars and the match was a laggy, shitty mess, but for the most part, the connection quality has been pretty good.
I like newcomer Nico a fair bit, too- she almost seems TOO good though.
