He looks like Tekken's Steve except shooting Sonic Booms and with some Boxer/Balrog/Dudley dashes & uppercuts. Seems fun but yeah the design is zzzzzz

Should I buy Granblue Versus? It's on sale for the first time on Steam and you can get the base game + S1 DLC pass for $40. It's the only Arcsys fighter I haven't played and I don't care about MP. People say it has decent SP and looks and plays nice?

Oh and I don't know anything or care about the Granblue franchise.

We got leaks!  New KOF XV info has popped up before SNK has announced or shown it.  From the art (which appears to be the box art), there's two new female characters, plus Heidern and Ash are back.

Spent some time last night playing Melty Blood online against Japanese players. No noticeable lag. Felt like I was in the same room as them. This is some really good rollback net code.  I hope the game is popular enough to keep a good online population.

Reminds me of AC Valhalla. At launch it loaded quick, but now all this communicating with server bullshit takes minutes. Definitely a pet peeve of mine when games try to do all this server checking.

There's an open beta demo up for KOFXV on PS4 & 5.  From the 19th through the 22nd it seems?

PS5 version looks to require vibration and haptic triggers?

That's cool, but is anyone even playing VF US anymore? I figured the game without rollback and its server issues would be dead at this point. Seems like a lot of effort this late.

Following up on my last post, Sega said VF5 Ultimate Showdown was success and surpassed expectations and is selling well and revitalizing the franchise.

So that explains the DLC pack.

Still that surprises the fuck out of me. Game was free on PS+ and has no rollback and shitty netcode and VF has never been popular. Who is buying the game? I mean I'm glad it's selling because VF is my favorite 3d fighter and I'd love for an actual honest to goodness new one, but it's just fucking bizarre. I guess the explosion of the FGC since VF5 has led to a new audience to fall in love with VF5 even if the netcode is shit.

Imagine if they had actually done rollback for this release. Damn. Could've been huge.

Speaking of rollback, it seems to be working well for BlazBlue.

https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2021/dec/26/top-popular-fighting-games/
Quote
Something that probably no one ever saw coming up until less than a month ago is that BlazBlue: Central Fiction is now the 4th most popular fighter on Steam thanks to its new rollback netcode beta, which has only been live for three weeks at this point, so those numbers would be even higher if we only counted from when the beta started.

In fact, 8 out of the 10 top titles currently use rollback with Dragon Ball FighterZ and Granblue Fantasy: Versus being the only ones to still used delay-based netplay, although many will still debate whether Tekken 7 counts or not.

Jump Force is getting delisted February 7th.

It's currently on sale on Switch for $12.49. I'm getting it for the shameless YGO/YYH/HxH fanservice and because I don't know what makes a fighting game good or bad. :P For not even $13, even if I only play a few rounds offline I'll probably have gotten my money's worth... Plus don't wanna have second thoughts after it gets delisted.

I'm not sure if all the hitbox controllers are considered "cheating controllers," but popular SF player Daigo once had his custom one banned by Capcom.

https://games.mxdwn.com/news/capcom-updates-pro-tour-rules-on-hit-box-controllers/
Quote
With the unofficial and unlicensed GafroBox, simultaneous directional inputs are possible when they shouldn’t be, which means a character like Daigo Umehara’s main, Guile, can do things in the game that are unintended, to say the least. Umehara intended to use the GafroBox at Combo Breaker, but the organizers banned the device.

In the video below, YouTube channel FGC Translated shows Daigo Umehara executing Guile’s Critical Art “Sonic Hurricane,” a charge motion attack, in a way that is simply not possible using a traditional arcade stick.

The GafroBox is a riff on a design by the company Hit Box Arcade, who make and sell their HitBox device. What largely separates these two peripherals is the Hit Box has a “SOCD cleaner,” which is what makes the Hit Box tournament-legal, even after the rules update.

Quote
Interestingly, many of the things that are unfair about the GafroBox and other SOCD-free devices is possible with the stock DualShock 4 controller that comes with the PlayStation 4 — the console all Capcom Pro Tour events are played on. Since Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition defaults to “forward” when right and left are pressed, the issue hasn’t caused any major upset.

Quote
You left out the important part where the gafrobox type Daigo used was allowed previously at tournaments (by other players), and that he specifically contacted TO's (including ones from Combo Breaker) and asked if they had okayed the gafroboxes in the past and they said yes. Although this is Capcom's ruling and not Combo Breaker's, but Daigo did do his homework.

Try messing with a keyboard and see how it feels.  Never felt "right" for me, but I wouldn't mind checking out the Snackbox Micro...just not for $200!

Arcade sticks have generally never felt right for me at home, either, although when it's a full cab setup it works.  For playing on a TV or monitor, I just use a controller.

Maybe it's the particular stick? Different sticks feel different depending on the weight. Like a Hori RAP is very lightweight.

For me, it's just not comfortable on my lap and it feels weird at a desk or on a coffee table.  Mounted to an arcade unit works great though.  One of these days I should try using the home arcade bartop I have with a PC and mess with some modern fighting games.

Bork kinda covered ithe actual cheating, but I was mostly just kidding around lol.but you can also do rapidfire SPDs, flash kicks and DPs a lot quicker than on a traidtional stick.

IDK I think the snackbox is really cool looking, but I'm happy with my HRAP pro.n I love the noir layout  :)
