GAF continues to be such a fascinating social experiment lol.

The very speculation that a person's opinion may contain underlying prejudices can quickly get you banned, call an early 20's teacher that sleeps with a 17 year old "hot," instant ban!

Troll incessantly with possible pedo sympathies in a thread about a father raping his daughter?  Mods be like :idont

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Honestly though, whoever that mod was, I think handled that well. Didn't do what some love to do and immediately jump in all triggered and shit and start baiting bans out of the opinions they hate.

Further enabling the virtue signaling trolls by giving them the blood they are seeking. Let the poster make his case or expose that he is trolling. See if it works itself out.... Of course all that other shit has conditioned and reinforced that if your virtue signal doesnt work the first time, signal harder! So shit becomes unsalvageable.

It's like they saw the dreamcast controller and went like yes this is it.

I don't get the obsession with an additional small control input.

The small nub on the N3DS? Weird, but apparently fine for Monster Hunter.

An even smaller looking D-pad? Why?  ???
It's a + and - so you know what side to put the controls on, not a dpad.

So it's basically a WiiU pad with sides you can rip apart from the screen. This is gonna sell approximately 5 units.

Also, Joy-con?  :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

It's what the WiiU should have been. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Switch, though I'll need to see more than just hip people playing it in hip locations.

Spec wise it's probably closer to the current gen if it has 4 GB of RAM. I wouldn't be surprised if their goal is to have the Switch be something that gets a spec bump every 2-3 years and is basically a cutting edge iOS/Android port machine with low-res versions of console games.

Which is smart! Kids these days want tablets before consoles but this satisfies all of their gaming/media needs. Plus it actually looks like a good platform for a party game considering the Wii consoles required you to carry the console/controllers as well as three sets of cables with you if you wanted to take it anywhere. Which was dumb.

I actually have some interest in this lil thang.

Investors generally are not the brightest around, watch the stock rise after Mario Run launches lol.

The trailer clearly shows Nintendo learned from the mistakes of the Wii U. It's already nearing 10m views within a day. And people are talking about it even a friend of mine mentioned it being cool and he does not care about Nintendo most of the time.
Quote
I don't think investors/most analysts (sans Pachter) actually looked at the reaction to this thing from gamers and the tech/gaming media being quite positive. Zelda will give this thing a really good start and that's not even counting several other titles (Splatoon/Dragon Quest in Japan, etc).

Also, I think we're a bit more clued in on the price point range than they are (since we pay attention).

My mother texted me just a few hours after the news. Lady is over 60. This is the first time that's happened with any video game system.

I'm not saying the Switch is going to sell 200 million units. I'm just saying the trailer and the coverage around it was effective enough to saturate the market such that a 60 year old lady who doesn't play games other than her phone games knew about it after just 2 hours.

In addition Nintendo's social media avenues have greatly benefited from this as well, before the video Nintendo's sub count was at 1.8 mil now its at 1.94 mil and about to hit 2 million subs.

What really worries me is that they never show the tablet and the TV being used together.

Hate the Wii U all you want, but it was a great feature.

They also didnt show off-tv playing in that player 1 is on the TV and player 2 is on the pad. Again, a great feature.
