Most likely from the aggressiveness of the argument between them and dave.

I'd say that dave was baiting a bit, but in the end, the decision is with the mods.

At least we did believe their mistake would teach further generations that you don't put a racist sociopath on the throne.

So what does it make you? At best, an inconscious ignorant of our history; ignorant of the risk Trump represents for US minorities, and the danger his nuclear temperament and own ignorance causes to the whole planet.

Wake up.

I read 20 pages of GIRL-GAF yesterday.

I predict 70% of the posters are actually cheeseburgers, 25% were men just pretending to be female and 5% actual female.

When a "woman" uses the following phrases - awww, hun, darling, lolz, errrrmmm, omg, sugar - then you know they don't actually have a (real) vagina and are trying to talk like what they think women talk like.

Let God rape em all.

I'm a 'real' woman that uses many of those terms all the time. Not sure why you'd think those in particular are signals, but I guess coming from a group of dudes who think tampons last a whole day, such ignorance is understandable. :)

I feel compelled to point out that 4KDennis is not me.

Just in case.

Literally was over here thinking "that Dennis guy sure took a turn"

Let's stop these Hitler comparisons. Every time I read one I get annoyed.

Trump is a xenophobe and everything in between but he's not hitler.
I won't.

But I'll let actual Holocaust survivors do the comparison for me instead.
Survivor says Trump reminds him of Hitler.
Holocaust Survivor warns of dangers of Trump's rhetoric.
Stepsister of Anne Frank says Trump reminds her of Hitler.

The comparison isn't to Hitler in the midst of his war-mongering, Holocaust-dealing prime, but rather the Hitler Germany voted into office, one who promised to restore Germany to prestige and power, who promised to throw out foreign influence and purge those diluting Germany heritage, one who promised them a new country of wealth and prominence at the expense of the "others". One who didn't yet have the means to enact his plans, but riled a zealous legion of followers took it down darker and more violent and extreme paths.

So I won't compare him to Hitler myself. I'll let people who were actually there do the comparisons instead.

Nope. The video completely ignores Trump's rhetoric and vilification of groups of people. Also ignores his lies laced with populism. That's where people compare Trump to Hitler.

But hey if you want to be associated with Trump supporters then go for it.

I'm gonna need receipts.. did he really take a day off for this?

It's the most first world privilege thing ever:

Amir0x takes a day off on election day. Ok...

Is it to participate in a political event for his candidate? No.
Maybe he's gonna pass around some flyers or something? No.
Is he going to volunteer at a voting place to drive the elderly or something like that? No
Maybe he's organizing some sort of election night party for his family? No

The dude took a day off from work to post on NeoGaf and lecture people instead of being out there and doing something productive in the real world for the elections.

He is thr ultimate social issues neogaf-OT poster

It was definitely tit for tat, but not an ad hom. There was no argument to discuss to begin with.
Huh?  You can say there wasn't an argument but it was basically the definition of ad hominem.
Quote
attacking an opponent's character rather than answering his argument
:doge

Read the second part of that definition. There was no argument to begin with. In fact, Amirox's post was just based on attacking people's (presumed) character in the first place.

Turns out the lead (and pretty much only) developer of what had been my favorite game of the year until 5 minutes ago is a shit-tier human. When I bought the game in July I went out of my way to buy directly from the dev instead of giving Steam a cut.

Usually I'm pretty okay about separating art from artist but in this specific situation I just feel disgusting.

This is really depressing and I'm sorry this happened.

I, too, am usually pretty good about separating creator from creation. Obviously their are exceptions both ways and, like you, I would not be able to separate this one because the mentality and politics of the creator directly poison the creation.

I am inclined to say that the damage is done (so to speak) and not to worry about it. When vegans accidentally eat meat, they know they can't un-eat it and just carry on. You can only do the best you can with these kinds of things. It is impossible to be 100% aware of everything you engage with, even if you try your best to be cautious.

I would speak your feelings about the game as often as possible, but don't feel you need to "undo" the purchase. It's just one of those "now you know" sort of things.

It's sad though. I used to be extremely liberal with my online gift giving. I would buy things for people all the time. Steam games, Vita imports, PSN codes, Amazon gift cards, whatever. I bought somebody a computer monitor when they off-handedly mentioned theirs stopped working and they couldn't afford a new one. While I don't regret my acts of kindness, I am now extremely apprehensive about continuing this behavior in fear of enabling or donating to some deplorable.

And I am not pious enough to pretend I'm interested in charity if it's for some deplorable with a frog complex. This election has made me much more skeptical of strangers. I no longer assume the best in them, I tend to fear the worst.

I'm only just realizing this now as I write it to you and it's made me very sad.

Not to shun introspection but some parts of it really  :huh . Offering monitors to strangers on a whim ?
(First poster is speaking about Rimworld BTW.)

It seems so naive to think you have to agree with a creator in order to enjoy their work. Koichi Sugiyama is a terrible person, but I still love Dragon Quest music. Beethoven was by all accounts a pretty terrible person, but you wont get better than his works. Hell, I can't think of an author that GAF wouldn't toss out as sexist. I have signed recordings from people that I often listen to and I know these people and personally know them to be really god awful people, but they're still able to create something of beauty. I can't help but think that if you keep looking to the creator to agree with you, you're going to be stuck enjoying largely mediocre stuff. And it misses the point that it's about what the person created and not what the person is.

It seems so naive to think you have to agree with a creator in order to enjoy their work.

GAF is full of people who define themselves by the pop culture entertainment they consume and can only ever view real-world problems through the prism of pop culture entertainment.

Our son came home from school upset today. Apparently the teacher asked all of the students to vote for who they thought would be a better president, Hilary or Trump. Isaac didn't know much about either except what he has seen on public TV ( this is mostly due to the fact the children at the ripe ol' age of 8 aren't able to fully comprehend what each stands of and what that means for our country ) and he said Hilary. He then has a little girl in his class started calling him names and saying she can't be friends with him because he said that. This is wrong on soooo many levels. It's sad that division in our country now has trickled down to the youth. I'm furious.

lol at all the "why would you even ask this to kids?!?" like it's something out of the ordinary to have fake elections in classes

The fact that talking heads and politicians in any form are riling up children like this is terrifying.

Only suggestion is to leave the infested area and let the rats starve and wither away. You can't change people's culture easily.

Damn, that's a shitty little girl.

Will be super awkward when Hillary wins and he is the only one getting all the redneck rage in the class.

For months, our 5 year old would freak out when he'd see a picture of Trump. We worked with him and got him to relax about it, and he actually helps me make phone calls for Hillary sometimes
can't imagine why that'd be adam :doge
