I love guns, don't own any at the moment but that's because they're fucking expensive in Canada, not because I have any moral qualms about them. I might feel differently if I was American, I dunno.  ???

With that said, if you're buying a gun to fight back against a fascist American government... well I have some bad news for you.

Enough of the proletarian struggle and the right to bear arms. We have much more important issues at hand

They're say anything for clickbait.
You act like this isn't in the realm of possibilities.

IIRC there's /multiple/ people on GAF who've admitted to fermenting fruits/vegetables as a kink.

There's even one poster who was the head volunteer at a kids anime convention that asked GAF why they got fired for telling others about his rape/bondage/car abduction kink because others were expressing their kinks in private and he knew somebody with a fetlife account or something.

I... I... They did... WHAT? I... Why... Telling others in work about... WHAT?

Too.. much.. information...

Lmao what is this

I remember myself and others asking why people need ar-15's before my stance changed. In hindsight, it was a dumb argument. At that point, what's the point of having a car that goes 300 mph? 300 mph is fast af and will undoubtedly result in someone's death. But you don't use that argument on the car for whatever reason. I don't see people requesting the ban of Bugatti's.

A car going 300 MPH is for the Salt Flats or purposely closed courses. Most folks that buy a Veryon aren't jamming the pedal down on busy highways unless they're idiots like that Texas Crash. :cmonson

I'm not sure I understand why "you're crazy if you think the state will do something bad to you, besides you can't stop them from killing you anyway" is supposed to convince people who want guns to not want them.

Or be an argument for doing it.

Someone find the GAF thread where Himu switches her stance on guns within 200 posts.  Then she posts cool looking guns from video games and "sexy" ivory handled ones she hopes to own.

You can find one of those for just about anything. Within a week she's a full blown expert and educating people on a topic. Every time.

That thread was almost a month ago. In that time I have taken two NRA gun safety classes amounting to about 8 hours worth of gun education. Another thing is that it doesn't take much to learn about guns. Someone who hasn't shot a gun as an adult is a lot different than someone who has shot a .40 or .45 in terms of awareness of guns. Going to a range and shooting multiple guns will do that. I am willing to admit I am wrong and see what I was wrong about. Guns are also a thing you don't just impulse buy. It's like buying any other investment. This requires research and time.

If you can't come up with a stance on an issue like this and argue that stance after a month of research you're a goddamn idiot. Now, I won't claim to be an expert on guns but a lot of these arguments are dry and weak and in the case of James' arguments steeped in emotion and assumptions.

I'm the same as before but now support a means to protect myself with legal force. That's all.

I'm not sure if this is in reference to me, but my position is basically -- if you want to own a gun to protect yourself against an Army who's only actually coming after you if hell has frozen over, go for it, and give your head a shake, simultaneously, cause you're fucking insane either way.

I'm buying a gun to shoot targets and to play cowboy in front of a mirror. Go ahead, make my day!

No, it was more a general observatin that was stirred up by your post and others. Like on any GAF gun thread you'll see that argument a ton. "The military will crush you!" It's like...so? You're still not getting me to buy AMD.

I never said I bought a gun because of a fascist American government. I was talking purely about Kame Sennin's crazy gaf post  (thanks Benji on the correction that he has a few guns but his post is still ridiculous).

I brought it up because i find the liberal contradiction in "white supremacists have been emboldened" "Donald trump is the next Hitler!" talk funny in combination with "don't buy a gun!"

Personally, I had been thinking of buying a gun as far back as the Pulse shooting and Pink Pistols teaching LGBTQ people how to shoot at ranges nation-wide. The election just acted as the catalyst where I stopped toying with the idea and started to look into it.

In summary: I'm not a gun owner because I'm scared of the government. I'm a gun owner because it's more likely for me to get murdered because I'm trans on top of hate crimes (which could mostly be fake) in post-election. Liberals calling Trump a fascist while being anti-gun is fucking hilarious though. Because if they recognize he's a fascist no way would not want to exercise that right. Proving them to be full of hot air.

Just to muse on that Civil War 2.0 point for a moment since so many on GAF were hoping Obama would declare it today and they could rush down to their local militia to pay for a replacement slave. The comic DMZ has a number of rather absurd plot holes in its world construction, but the least absurd was the split of the military and thus the "FREE STATES OF AMERICA" gaining access to military level arms because well, the "rednecks" at the base gave it to 'em or were part of the rebel military.

I've always wondered why the urbane upper class elite and their wannabe clinger-ons always assume that the military would be on their side. The U.S. was about the only instance of that, France a few years later, not so much.

The American Succession always has fascinated me. I bet Ben Franklin stuck fruit in women's vaginas and ate them. The fruit. And the vaginas. Maybe the rest of the women too.

What was I talking about? Oh yes, the Crash remake looks hideous.

If it hasn't been clear already. Super Mario Run showcases again the disconnect between the core console gaming community (NeoGAF, gaming press & forums, etc.) and the usual casual audience (which is Nintendo's main audience on mobile).

Guess what - not only is the established F2P model with micro-transactions way more profitable (which should be Nintendo's only interest), it is also more pro-consumer in the mind of everyone not in the gaming bubble.

When Nintendo announced that SMR will be a title that you have to pay only once for and you get the whole game, people in the gaming community were positively surprised at the "pro-consumer move" in comparison to the typical whaling model mobile titles established.

But is it really pro-consumer? No, it isn't because that isn't what consumers on mobile devices want. They want the ability to play the whole game for free, no matter how many "optional" micro-transactions, advertisements and pop-ups fill up the game. And that is not a bad thing. It is best for the audience that mobile devices have and more importantly for companies them wanting to make a lot of cash.

And worst, it will cost Nintendo in multiple ways. Not only do they make way less money, they will also lose mobile consumer trust, lose the typical word-of-mouth effect that results in the legs F2P titles typically enjoy and worst destroys Nintendo's main strategy of mobile titles affecting their console software efforts as it was the case with Sun/Moon. Hey, Pokemon GO was F2P with micro-transactions!

Super Mario Run will still make good money but its potential is completely wasted by not going completely F2P and it will be the same for every future mobile title if they don't adapt.
Quote
Even if profit is secondary (which it isn't), you don't engage people to your brand by turning them away from their brand which is what they are partly doing right now with SMR.

Go with him to the range and shoot them with him. The terror will turn into respect.

Start with an caliber of .22 or .380 or .9 mm. All are great starter cals. And as that gun smoke leaves the muzzle after the bullet is ejected via the hammer striking that primer, you'll learn what true power feels like, what it's like to hold it, and that with proper training, is nothing to be afraid of.

All the ranges I've been to have the four rules plastered all over the place. Abide them and you'll do fine. People will be more than willing to help if you have questions. Just say you're new to shooting.

As an archer you'll get along nicely and enjoy a new sport.

I've shot 22 rifles before when I was younger, but I know any of my husbands guns would knock me on my ass. And I'm so paranoid about safety that when I was teaching the kids archery I wouldn't even let them noc and arrow until everyone was well clear, much less draw. One of the first things they teach is to never have your finger on the trigger unless you're going to shoot. You'll learn fast.

What kind of guns does your husband have? You can rent guns at some ranges and they'll be more willing to show you the ropes.

.22 has some kick but it's a bit light. I love me the feeling of a .9 pistol. Don't try +p ammo though and if someone suggests .40 S&W run for the hills.

He has one of those ARs outfitted to looks badass, a 9m pistol, and 12 gauge shotgun. The 12 gauge would definitely put me in the dirt.

Try the pistol.

But it's so loud and I'm a wuss!  Lol I might sometime if we find a range out here

When it was shot did you have ear protection on? When you go to a range you will be supplied ear protection. :)

Where we used to live was the literal middle of nowhere, we had our own range set up in the back 40. Me for slinging arrows and him for going boom. No he didn't use ear protection, I imagine in a range that would be mandatory given echoing and the like.

Even outside he didn't use ear protection? He's got balls. :lol

As for shooting, the first shot takes courage but the more ammo you use the more you realize a gun is no more harmful than a hammer. It's the same as carrying a kitchen knife or a pair of scissors: a harmless tool if handled with safety. After shooting either you'll realize that your fear was a self made delusion as it was in the case of me, or you'll know if you just don't like guns.

If you do decide to give a range a shot a lot of ranges have ladies nights where it's nothing but women and we'll get a discounted or sometimes free night at the range. Go during one of those. You'll have fun and be surrounded by lots of knowledgeable ladies.

Yeah, we're country folk, no one uses ear protection:p Never seen anyone shoot with protection actually. Most everyone I know that owns guns using them for hunting and only does target practise to either show off a new gun or train for an upcoming hunt, and it usually is always outdoor with a mcguyvered target lol.

Ladies night sounds fun, if I find a range and go I'll let you know how it goes.

Read the thread and then consider the bump at post 38. Who would do that, especially in the context of the thread?
