Note to self: If you're going to tell a game dev to die in a fire, make sure they're a fucking white male.

Maybe just don't tell games devs to die in fires. They're just videogames, bro, it's not that big of a deal imho.

That sort of goes without saying.
You would think...

But then I remember that there are people (mostly "adult" or adolescent men) who attach their self worth and identity to games because they have jack shit going for them in their day-to-day lives.  :doge

Plopping a scene from a romance fan fic right into their multi-million dollar production sounds about right (the presentation of the scene itself should also get its due).
That's in keeping with tradition. People responded well to that shit, so they keep doing it. Kind of curious if this time they had the sense to fade to black during sex scenes.

I know it's pulp top to bottom, but I will keep whinging about this regardless.

Is curious to see people with the resist banner getting banned...

From what I'm hearing, Andromeda hasn't even been developed by the main Bioware studio, but a former EA studio they gave the BW name to. Well, not like they've made a good game since ME2, or a good main plot since ME1 lol

Bioware has never been good outside of BG2.

KotOR1. I'd say Mass Effect 1 is arguable, but I hated the way that ended pretty abruptly.

Thought I felt the end segment was way better than ME2-3

I've been watching some more gameplay vids of ME: Andromeda. Looks like the facial animations are fairly decent later in the game.

Makes me wonder if the first part and some other segments were scrapped and redone late in the design process.

This isn't unique to games. Music, pop, film, cartoons and scifi are full of raging fans that lash out at the first moment of disappointment. Sports fans say some awful shit, too. (And in person from courtside seats.)

During sophomore year of high school, our district was setting up a "safety/awareness/team skills" day where most of the school time was dedicated to fire drills, intruder drills, and outdoor activities that required students to spend most of the day in the football, soccer, and baseball fields doing random things.

I wasn't trying to do any of that, so I walked out of class to use the bathroom without asking permission, and got slapped with a day of I.S.S because of it. I knew that I.S.S students didn't have to do any of that stuff, and I spent my day knocking out worksheets, homework, and test prep, while kicking it with 3 other dudes and one of the coolest substitute teachers that was in our county. He even had the news on in the background and had granola bars.

A few months later I realized that I could have just stayed home, but whatever.

How is the whole Jamie Lee Curtis mission supposed to be making fun of her? Or hating women?

When she gets interrogated in the room, she mentions how the passion is gone between them and how the whole pseudo spy lifestyle thing was making her feel desirable but IMPORTANT. So Arnold and Tom set up this secret mission and Arnold was supposed to come clean about his secret life when she was going to be on the bed.

There's never a single scene in the movie where Arnold is pissed off at her. He's angry at Paxton and he just can't believe that his wife could have in her the drive to cheat on him. Isnt there a scene where Tom Arnold is talking about all women are cheating whores or whatever and Arnold smashes his fist into the car next to them and grabs him, telling him that his wife is not like that and to stfu about this

There's  the whole subtext of routine and passion being lost in a couple after many years of marriage, but this flew over the heads of gaffers it seems. Also both Arnold *AND* Jamie Lee think that the other one "isnt like that". Jamie mentions in the interrogation that Arnold is "just a computer salesman"

The strip-tease scene.. People seems to forget that she, herself, decides to 'fix' her outfit and her hair while she's going to the room? The deal is also that she isnt going to have sex, because "the client has particular tastes, he only likes to watch".

I dunno.

Potential college kid.  I hope he doesn't get permed before he can tell us of the inherent racism found in the breakfast options available in the cafeteria.  Or the inherent racism of not being allowed to hang up tapestries and use incense in the dorms.  Or the triggering effects of seeing scales in the gym and how no minorities are on the squash team.

Didn't read THIS GAFFER post but to be fair True Lies is really weak. I mean it's a lifted remake from an unsubtle French popular comedy and a fairly faithful one at that with the beefcake up to eleven -Thierry Lhermitte & Miou Miou are not as... exemplar... physical specimen as Arnie and JLC- (In the original, the heroes believe they're trapped somewehere in Africa or the Gulf by the brown terrorists, but after escaping trough a couple of Souk/Bazaar-like streets they realize they were in Paris all along  :doge Not exactly super woke). Not to knock on Claude Zidi (director of the original, as man with a long areer in popular films), but it kinda sets the level that Cameron got inspired by such a meh film.

The thing is though that Cameron isn't exactly the most subtle and intellectual himself. Some fans are persuading themselves Cameron must be amazingly prescient because he apparently has a method to catch the thunder of the masses attention with Titanic and Avatar but really "high" considerations in his films are often belabored and fairly simplist. The alternative endings of both Abyss and T2 are really terrible and cringy, his films are better when they cut all that textual fluff.

it's funny to me that somebody like say Activision gets so much shit from places like GAF when they've never stooped as low as to give a contracted developer less than 18 months to make a major franchise game then hosed them out of royalties for missing a MetaCritic score by a single point on a game that's sold 10+ million copies

even the Infinity Ward fight was over executive bonuses and percentage points regarding a wholely owned subsidary (and Activision had actual evidence they were talking to EA they were willing to ignore)

1) Twitter
2) The age in which I wouldn't want to be X has changed as I've aged. When I was a teen, I thought adults playing video games was like, totally lame. Many did. Spending time online is basically this generation's version of talking on the phone, which as zomgee can confirm, us olds used to do all the time too. Except now, you accidentally learn shit about other people and the world at large, rather than just what Suzy said about Tim. Of course, what we invariably learn from internet discussions is that the world is filled with assholes, but still.

GAF isn't THAT bad.

No, it IS THAT bad.  That's why this thread keeps on going strong.

It has continued to get worse and worse, to the point where all the crap that infected the Off-Topic forum has now seeped into the Gaming forum.

Where else are you going to post? Something Awful? Legit question: What other forums are out there with such a large user-base that you can get news from?

Reddit?  GameFAQs/Gamespot?  Giant Bomb?  Twitter?  FB groups?  Hell, there's plenty of news sites out there that update all the time anyway.

You can still go to GAF to get news...there's just no reason to post much anymore.  Everything gets lost in the shuffle and/or you have idiots piling on you for posting an opinion.  I got shit for pointing out that Rock Paper Shotgun had more than one set of impressions for Mass Effect in a thread that made it sound like RPS just hated it.  It was enough to make me go back to just posting in the few community threads I still like enough to browse daily.

I can't stand all the politically-correct bullshit from SJWs and millennials.  Fuck off with all that crap.  The forum sucks now.  I thought for a brief moment that things might improve with Bishop gone, but now I see more threads being locked for the dumbest reasons than ever before.  It has never been so bad there.

I see some of the better posters have long-left forums.  They haven't gone elsewhere...they're just on Twitter/FB now.  If it wasn't for smaller forums like the Bore, I'd be done with forums too.

7.7 from IGN  :betty

Eh, whatever. I'll get it dirt cheap sometime in December/whenever I get through my backlog of steam games.
